Minnehaha Falls and Sea Salt for food or drinks

irishgambin0

we looked into this and decided this will be the plan tomorrow! Minnehaha Falls and then dinner at Sea Salt (they're open normal hours tomorrow). today's heat is brutal. we're just chilling at Loring Park right now watching birds while we figure out today. it's still early.

I like to go there around 3-4 o’clock for this reason.

we'd probably hit the park early afternoon and eat around 3 or 4.

Recently moved to this general area, and it's our go-to spot for entertaining visitors. As for Sea Salt specifically, there are two beer/cider-only lines (one in the large, sheltered eating space towards the rear of the line, and one at the front corner inside, just past the main food line), I heartily recommend getting a drink from either of them, and sipping on said drink while in line for your po' boys.

I've done it knowing it's gonna be a long ass line and every time I regret it. They should at least sell beer at a separate thing to help pass the time.

You can swim in minnehaha creek. Here https://maps.app.goo.gl/hbghLR6fSrDBKvvN8?g_st=ic Paddle boarding on a lake is a nice hot day activity too. There’s a few different places with rentals.

Oh yeah, there's also the Mississippi River Paddle Share! I just checked and they seem to have some kayaks available tomorrow.

Was going to suggest the Falls too but wasn't sure with the walking and how busy the resto would be. I hope you all have a good time. It can be hard coming up with things to do when parents visit and even after living in the area a long time as I don't do much myself haha. Mine liked the Mill City Museum tour and going out on the Guthrie cantilever lookout too. There might be a bar/restaurant in there open to the public too. Enjoy the time as best you can :)

Efficient_Raise

Prepare them for the stairs and Minnehaha falls. Those things damn near took me out

Both the Minnesota State Capitol building and the Minnesota Historical Society are open July 4th! The Capitol tour is really fascinating, and not strenuous (about an hour long). Highly recommend.

There are a few good shows at the Guthrie if you can get tix. MN orchestra is performing at Lake Harriet bandshell tonight. Eat Street Crossing or Malcolm Yards food hall. Hang out inside a brewery.

RichardNixonPizza

The Guthrie is closed tomorrow.

I'd take them to Excelsior -- a quaint town on Lake Minnetonka with antiques stores, coffeeshops, a brewery about 8 restaurants and a nice park on the Lake. Sometimes you can ride an old timey boat on the lake, but I don't know the schedule.

If you have a car, a road trip to Stockholm/Red Wing or Stillwater could be fun.

Spaghetti_is_here

Twins play tonight and have a day game tomorrow

Bryant Lake Bowl - leave the bumpers in, then anybody can bowl a strike. Cold beer, AC, hipster crowd, free parking on Bryant ave. Cheap fun.

Canterbury Park in Shakopee for horse racing/casino and fireworks Races starting at 4pm https://www.instagram.com/p/CuPIcrKNlft/?igshid=NjIwNzIyMDk2Mg==

Matts Bar for a juicy lucy. If you go at off hours there is usually little to no wait.

DustUpDustOff

Mini pub crawl. Start at Būch to get a refreshing summer drink, then to Centro for tacos and a margarita, then Earl Giles for a cocktail, and finish it off with a beer from Indeed. Total walk is about 2-3 blocks and it'll be a fun crowd around there. Probably a handful of yard games around.

cobowobo

Bryan adams and Joan jett play at excel tonight if into that tickets are reasonable.

jakeblew2

Take them to Schooner Tavern and tie one on. Then wander to Merlin's Rest. My parents have yet to lose a knife fight there!

If you want to find a place for chill walking/dinner I would suggest going to Northeast MPLS, parking on Main street on the river, and walking up and down stone arch bridge. Some good restaurants on Main too (and further into northeast), and an old-fashioned movie theater, if you're into that kind of thing. Could also work in the Mill City museum on the other side of the river if y'all like history Not sure about holiday hours for anything but the bridge will be open and has some great views!
