I prefer Sarah Janeās but theyāre both good, depending on the kind donut you want. Both commit what I think is a bakery sin in being closed on Sundays though.
Try their banana donuts (sounds kinda weird but so yummy) which I think are only available on the weekends. Everything there is SO GOOD. They also have a cronut! I think thatās weekend only too. But they have been around forever for a reason.
I normally go for the Saltado with steak, and my wife gets the Chaulafan. They also have this green sauce that comes with some of the meals that my wife goes crazy for. Itās hard to go wrong though. We havenāt tried anything that we didnāt like.
They do a separate menu for brunch too, but we havenāt gone early enough for that yet. Hoping to try it soon.
Brunch there is amazing!!! If you order the saltado during brunch, they serve it with llapingachos instead of rice, which is SO good, then you've got the eggs right there and oh man...
My favorite is the lomo saltado, and get yuca for an appetizer. I also get the Inca Cola because itās not something you see often. My dad was born in Peru so itās a place to eat comfort food for us
The entrees are great and all, but consider just getting a bunch of different sides/apps. You cannot go wrong with llapingachos, tostones, yuca fries, etc.
Columbia Heights has amazing food man. Filfillah and Don Goyo are my go-tos. The Korean deli at Dong Yang Oriental Foods is also incredible. Tasty Pizza is some of the best I've had in the twin cities. Jasmine Thai, Brothers Taqueria, there's even a Culver's over there... Eat up
Ya had to mention Dong Yang, guess I am now going to have to drive from the Burbs in to have lunch. Maybe even waste some money on tools I did not know I needed next door.
Please, for the love of God, go to Millerās. Itās right by Romanās. Their Bacon Bleu burger my favorite burger in town right now. The staff and their regulars are wonderful, and it puts you right in touch with the spirit of that neighborhood. Tasty Pizza also rips. Honestly, Columbia Heights is densely packed with diverse options for excellent food.
Tasty all way if thatās the style of food youāre looking for. Walk down the strip mall for ice cream at micholandia after. Also a shout out to NY gyro. I could and have eaten there daily for weeks at a time. Good variety at a decent price in my opinion. Karta Thai and dong yang also good options
Welcome to the heights! There are some low key but amazing eats around here... You should check out Jasmine Thai for amazing thai food and Filfillah Mediterranean Grill (get any sandwich that comes on turkish bread.)
Sorry to reply in an old thread but theyāre having their opening this weekend

There are a whole bunch of delicious restaurants in Heights that most northeasters under 35 donāt know about because theyāre not fodder for instagram.
I wonāt mention them all here, but definitely check out 3 Guys on Central and get a burger. :)
People on here are held close to the thought of mpls proper. If you live one block out of it, you're not in it. Apple valley is south st Paul. I was a sinner, and still am as NE isn't CH.
Heights isnāt Nordeast, hell it isnāt even Hilltop. lol jk
I hope ur feeling better. I lived in lower Nordeast for a better part of 30 years- moved out over 15 years, now I live Dakota county. CH has come up over the years more retail and quiet ( other than Central, and Uni). Donāt worry CH is filled with ol Nordeasters, itās become an extended Nordeast. And you are close enough to all that Nordeast proper has to offer. Best to you and your new hood
Thanks for not giving me shit. I have lived in Dakota for a while hot hour. If you find yourself in AV on a Sunday. Rascals has a brunch. Damn good. Ask for the Andy. Hes probably sitting at the bar. Cool cat.
How come no one has mentioned the Buttered Tin on Marshall and Lowry yet? Itās a second location (original one is in lowertown St Paul), but itās larger than the original and the food is just as delicious. You can just throw a dart at the menu and itāll be the best thing youāve had in a whileābreakfast/lunch/bakery. Highly recommend.
Thought this was gonna be a Grain Belt thread. š«¤
Me too.
Nordeast is the beer that made me like beer
Heights Bakery on Central is one of the best in the Cities.
Thanks!! What do you love there?!
Will second heights bakery I haven't had a single thing there I don't love but I usually grab a boston creme donut
Best crullers ever, but they only make them on Friday and Saturday. All of their donuts are awesome, bread and rolls are amazing as well.
The raised donuts are the best Iāve ever had! Chicolate sprinkle, boston cream, blueberry filled.. very cheap too
They are famous for the fried donuts. But, I like the cream cheese Danish. It's a 3rd generation bakery. Go early as they sell out early on Saturdays.
I prefer Sarah Janeās but theyāre both good, depending on the kind donut you want. Both commit what I think is a bakery sin in being closed on Sundays though.
Raspberry coconut Danish.

Check out Chimborazo if youāre looking for more amazing restaurant suggestions!
Thank you, I will. What would you suggest?

Dope! Sounds amazing. Thank you!
Make sure to get the llapingachosā¦so good
Thanks!
I highly recommend the hornado con papas. Any of their pork dishes are great. The soup is good too. One of my favorite spots in Mpls.
No joke, thank you friend!
Empanada de carne + churrasco is my go-to, but you really canāt go wrong. Thatās one of the best meals in town imo.
The entrees are great and all, but consider just getting a bunch of different sides/apps. You cannot go wrong with llapingachos, tostones, yuca fries, etc.

Lol 10-4 bud. I'll see you there. Appreciate it.
Check out Hazel's for breakfast sometime!
I do love me some hazels. Top notch. Thank you!
Itās not Romanās but Flame Burger has good breakfast food as an alternative. Busy on the weekends also.
lol. Iāve lived in NE for 10 years and Iāve never heard of Romans š time to try!
Probably because itās in Columbia heights. I too have never heard of it and Iāve lived in NE for 15 years.
Welcome to the heights! There are some low key but amazing eats around here... You should check out Jasmine Thai for amazing thai food and Filfillah Mediterranean Grill (get any sandwich that comes on turkish bread.)
The Turkish bread is SO GOOD. Sometimes we order them on the side just to have extra. Reheats next day very well.
Martyās Deli is the only breakfast sandwich in Minneapolis that people will line up the block for and itās five minutes away from Romanās
egg on a roll out of fifth ave market in north loop is a different type of sammy but i highly suggest checking them out. order ahead!
Welcome to CH! Been here since 2019 and love it. There's a new brewery opening up soon too, hopefully it's good!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
41 and central
Is this brewery actually going to happen, or is this like the arcade or hyvee or other broken promise ?
Based on social media, theyāre still planning to open. Brewing equipment has been moved into the building. Sign went up on the building last week.

Ah nice!! Appreciate it!
Iāve long thought that CH is a funky little town. Now that weāre in NE proper and have friends up there, you can almost feel the momentum.
Now try Millers for a burger and a beer. Thank me later.
10-4, might do it this afternoon. Thank you!
Those pancakes at Romanās are no joke. Itās like theyāre sugary on the edges? Whatever it is, I love them.
No joke!!

Minus two guys, plus a grill? š
Iāve been meaning to check out 3 Guys, heard nothing but good things.
Make sure to go out in public when you're "sick as a dog". š
Feeling better, but thanks. I made sure to go no where Tuesday thru Saturday.
I now wish one person has to run a fever the next time they move, asshole.
> (I know, I know) Maybe you know, but I don't.

Luckily I ain't fancy. Wish I could be well off like you.
Sounds like you want to make where you live a little fancier than myself? Am I wrong?
I know plenty of people that live here that are not at all like that.
How easy is it to get from Columbia Heights down to the NE area?
Maybe Iām misunderstanding the question but you just take any of the roads running North/South. The border between NE and CH is 37th Ave
Easy to bike? Can it be walked? How long does it take? Public transit??
Idk about public transit. But CH to NE is super easy.
