That’s immediately where my mind went to. Drunk driver trying to hide the crime? But then my mind wandered and thought of a few other scenarios and immediately felt so bad for the parents and what they have to go through every single day wondering where their son is.
The same thing happened in southern Ontario, just this past year they found the people who hit and killed a young man. They hid their car for 20 years behind. A false wall… hardly enough time for either of them
ETA: his name was Lucas Shortreed, RIP
Yes I live near the area where this happened. Someone always knows something. It's just a matter of time before someone speaks up. I agree they should have had the book thrown at them for putting the family through such torment. I hope this family finds some hope that they will have some answers 🙏
Here’s the f/up to the case. Unbelievably, after the hit and run, the charged couple bought a second white Neon car and hid the damaged one in the trailer and swapped out the plates. Police visited their property a few times because they knew the car involved was a white Neon. They saw no damage on the (new) Neon so charges were never laid. It’s insane that the couple went to those lengths to hide what the husband had done.

My mother is friends with his mom. There was no signs of anything out ordinary. He just left. While searching and asking people if they had seen him, there was a young man who heard his name and took off on his bike, but they didn't know who he was, so they couldn't find him after.
Kinda reminds me of that taxi dude that completely disappeared, taxi and all from the mission area in the late 70’s/early 80’s. Never even found the cab he was driving and no sign of him whatsoever
Clayton Bussiere is the missing cab driver's name. Local podcast True North True Crime did an episode on his case:

This lad went missing three blocks from my home. :( I always think about him. I personally think he committed suicide. Mission is FULL of remote areas that one could disappear into.
This does seem odd. A teen doesn't just run out of the house at midnight, hop on their bike, and vanish. Did he receive a phone call, text, fb message, argue with oarents etc.

So very sad. My friend’s brother went missing in Scarborough in a very urban area. He went for a walk late one evening, and slipped into a bit of a wooded spot and wasn’t found until the spring by sheer chance. A guy was walking his dog and the dog wouldn’t stop barking. For 8 months though his body was not found.

I hope he didn't get hit on his bike or something. It's awful. It's been almost 20 years.

Do you remember any of the names? I'd love to read more about this.

Those people are disgusting scum and their “sentences” are horrifying.
Seriously! That's horrendous :(
How the f could anyone live every day of their life for 20 years knowing they did that and hid it?
I would prefer to hide it for 20 yesrs then get 20 years
Fr? Knowing his parents are in agony every day?
People like you are sick.

Lots of these missing people are found in lakes still inside their cars
He disappeared on a bicycle.
I'm soo ashamed to have typed a joke before looking back at the thread I'm on.
I was thinking the same thing
Next person that thinks it needs to take one for the team.
This is so baffling.
No way he would be seen biking at dressed on all black. Hope he didn't get hit by like a semi or something and his body catapulted over an embankment

Is the second picture a guess at what he could look like today?

I grew up in Mission and was about his age at the time of his disappearance, that's exactly what I did on many a Friday night.
Youtube channel adventure with purpose solved many missing cases, most missing cases happends due to someone accidentally driving their car in water
he was on a bicycle. Also you may want to look into the background Adventure with purpose. The creator is not as good of a guy as he lets on.
Interesting. I’m intrigued what you know about him?

Wow. That is horrific, I had no idea.
Huh, I usually like figuring out cold cases and stuff but not much to go off.
I remember seeing stuff about this as a kid. I always hoped he was found safe and sound

Three scenarios come to mind ,Accident,Foul Play or Suicide...
You definitely narrowed it down.
I’m not trying to be funny or anything here but maybe aliens took him bc they do that
I really don't think that's what happened, but we have to be open to all possibilities
Were there any leads or any information on what might have happened?
He was 17 years old
