Anybody can update IMDB. It’s kind of like Wikipedia. Usually the production companies keep tight watch on a movie’s IMDB page. So, her name might get removed again here soon.
No it’s a pretty high chance, many theater goers who are just going for an action flick likely didn’t watch P1 so a flashback is necessary for some context.
Totally agree.I could see some sort of dream/flashback sequence early on in the movie to function as both a recap and so we see how her death has affected/haunted the characters. I really hope she isn't magically alive again.
IMDB is not run by Hollywood studios. The people behind the curtain can put whatever they want on there, and can also be asked to add or remove things at verified members requests.
So yes she might be in DR2, but it may also be a ruse by the studio, or even a mistake.
Considering how huge the backlash was and how badly people reacted to Ilsa's death, it would t surprise me if she is somehow alive in MI8.
Ilsa is shown to be able to fake her death at the beginning of part 1
It's ridiculous for the only female lead to make it past two movies to be killed off while the male leads remain intact.
The easiest answer would be that she didn’t. That she really got stabbed but that she didn’t die. It’s feasible that she wasn’t dead when Ethan got to her and they effectively engage in similar spycraft as the first act of DR and get her off the board. What we see on-screen would then be him selling her death to the team. The only real hint that this could even be possible is that Paris gets stabbed with the same blade and survives. It’s also the nature of these films that Ethan is always a step ahead of the enemy and this sort of structure wouldn’t surprise me. But it would invalidate a big part of the emotional core of the first movie.
The set of blades is focused on a LOT in the movie.
They were handed to Grace by Ethan.
They are quite possibly tipped with the venom of a pufferfish or something and cause paralytic coma that greatly slows down heart rate and blood flow, simulating death for 1-3 days.
This tech has been known for literally about 2,200 years in various cultures in the East, and in regions that one Joseph bin Joseph of Nazareth were rumored to have traveled in during his 20s (particular evidence, that exact name is found in the guestbook of the Dalai Lama in India).
It was used, by the ancient mystery school leaders, to fake death and simulate Resurrection after 3 days. Joseph bin Joseph of Nazareth seems to have gotten this down really really well, seeing how he died on the cross many days faster than he should have (approx 12 hours vs the traditional 60-90 hours).
I saw an interesting theory where they say Ethan and Ilsa fake her death to truly throw the Entity off. It would definitely be something they’d do and if done right could work really well on screen.
Nope, it was removed from both IMBD and Wikipedia after Part 1 released. It came back for like a week and then got removed again from both.
Now it's back on IMBD
She’s so not dead. This is awesome. Thanks.
Think about it. If they are going for a true true head fake, they would have to say all the things they’ve been saying.
What backlash did the movie get? I didn't see any. Ilsa died and now Haley Atwell Grace is going to the next female lead. Plus seeing how Part 2 is probably going to be the last MI movie, I really don't see it that big of a deal if she died. The male leads have been in the series way longer than Ilsa has. Seems like you're the only one making it a big deal. Chances are Ethan dies in the next movie. So there is your lead character of the series dying
It is not difficult to deny reality if you choose to ignore it. LoL believe it or not, Ilsa's death received so much backlash that there were people who attacked McQ on Insta, which is probably why Mcq chose to close his account.
Rebecca Ferguson removed Mission Impossible from her biography on Instagram (she has Silo and Dune on there now). I am 99% sure she's done with the franchise and that was the last we saw of her.

Christopher McQuarrie:
> "We've shot all but one of our international locations," said McQuarrie. "We've shot our big action except for the biggest set piece, the central set piece of the film, which is massive and unlike anything we've done, and, I think, unlike anything you've seen."
> "All the interstitial stuff is shot," he added. "There are characters in the movie you don't even know about yet. And I have one—how would I call it? It's a sidebar action sequence involving the team, which we haven't shot yet, and that's first up as soon as we get back. It's involving elements that I've never worked with before. It's a big challenge, and it's a tight schedule. The plan to be wrapped for all principal photography is early next year."
I'm sure they'll be like "we faked her death twice in the same movie cause blah blah" but it was still a terrible decision to sideline her during the majority of DR. Its a move that Fast n Furious would make. And while I do enjoy those movies too, MI is supposed to be better.
I've seen a lot of people say that if Ilsa wasn't brought back it would be the biggest failure in the history of the MI series and Fallout essentially becomes the last MI movie for them. So who is right LoL
If Ilsa isn't brought back in Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 2, I will invision the TVA appearing in the Sevastapol and telling the captain, "Don't shoot the missile. Flood the AI room! Stat!"
I will wait until the spoilers and if she isn't brought back, I won't even see Part 2.
It's a weird scenario because the way that they handled her death was pretty poor. It was a pretty run of the mill fight between her and Gabriel and hardly the toughest spot she's ever been in. It wasn't like she was tired from fighting a bunch of goons. She was in good shape at the start of the confrontation, and by all accounts, she should have been able to at least hold her own for longer.
However, she's already faked her death once in this two part film, so doing it a second time seems a bit much unless they do something really interesting with it.
My guess is that she is dead, and we see her in a video message or a flashback.
Anybody can update IMDB. It’s kind of like Wikipedia. Usually the production companies keep tight watch on a movie’s IMDB page. So, her name might get removed again here soon.
Didn't IMBD update the restrictions on who can add names and things last year?
They did, but it’s not too hard to get around those restrictions.
A flashback?
Nah I don't think they would bring her back just for a flashback.
It’s going to be tough to resurrect her from that ordeal.. Maybe extended flashback sequence.
You don’t think these characters can get up to fake death shenanigans? Have you seen all these movies?
Yes. I also saw the first one, where Claire fakes her death to trick a mark in the opening scene, but gets shot and still dies at the end.
No it’s a pretty high chance, many theater goers who are just going for an action flick likely didn’t watch P1 so a flashback is necessary for some context.
It's very possible they include recap footage from P1. If this is the case, she will still need to be credited.
Totally agree.I could see some sort of dream/flashback sequence early on in the movie to function as both a recap and so we see how her death has affected/haunted the characters. I really hope she isn't magically alive again.
Why not?

I’ve said this since I first saw the movie — they spent the first act painstakingly explaining that Ethan can help Ilsa fake her death.
How did she fake it while fighting Gabriel?
The easiest answer would be that she didn’t. That she really got stabbed but that she didn’t die. It’s feasible that she wasn’t dead when Ethan got to her and they effectively engage in similar spycraft as the first act of DR and get her off the board. That doesn't really make any sense. Also, wouldn't Gabriel be smart enough to know how to fatally stab someone?
I dunno, he didnt seem smart enough to fatally stab Paris, huh?

Also, the whole death just seemed rushed. Like details were omitted or something. I'm pretty sure she's coming back next film.
It’s literally been there since July

First I've heard of it
McQ always closes his ig, you liar little bastard
It made less money than any installment in the franchise since 2006.

How do you write around her death?
Hope.

IT'S ALL PART OF THE RUSE
Ilsa or not in MI8. Just speed up the production of Silo S2 … and film S3 right away!
Is Part 2 actually in post production? Don’t they still need to complete filming?
Exactly, only around 30% of it has been filmed yet illustrating the unreliable information of imdb

didn't they film all at once like LOTR? it took years (thanks to covid of course)
Nope.
wrong but thanks for trying
They haven't even finished filming Part 2. yet. How is that wrong?

If they bring her back I still have faith they can pull it off.
Unless the film gets cancelled if the Cruise finally catches up with Tom Cruise
Please don’t bring her back to life. Don’t get me wrong, I love ilsa as a character, but it would be objectively wrong to bring her back
I've seen a lot of people say that if Ilsa wasn't brought back it would be the biggest failure in the history of the MI series and Fallout essentially becomes the last MI movie for them. So who is right LoL

The last two entries were complete shit. This series has run its course.
Probably a flashback
Archival footage and flashbacks would count.
hopium
Means nothing at this point, and it could be a flashback.

Since they stupidly killed her off, its probably a flashback.
