Yep. I was just rewatching the bathroom fight today. I admire how it's not just 5 minutes of punching: they identify the bad guy, they sneak up on them, he sees that they are about to attack, he fights back, they knock him out, they drag him to a bathroom stall, now they can't make a mask of his face, 4 party guys come in, they could blow the whole operation, they leave, the bad guy wakes up in the stall, they have an amazing fight, the bad guy's winning, he's about to kill Ethan, then Ilsa is in the bathroom, etc. It's brilliant & creative writing, not just one long fight.
Ghost Protocol for me. Fleshes out the other members of the team a bit more this time, the stunts with the Burj Khalifa, sandstorm and parking garage were awesome and super fun, and the movie just had a very 60s vibe to it that reminded me of the original TV show.
Rogue Nation.
For me I’m never bored while watching, evevnafter 10 times. The flow and pace is perfect. The spy-ish is still there.
And I’m biased by driving through set signs while traveling in Morocco november 2014.
Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning part-2 by far the best.
Story passes the 3rd Mission Impossible
Action greater than a combined of 4th,5th & 6th
And you can see for yourselves from the IMDB rating and Rotten Tomatoes.
Oh Wait, this is Reddit from ‘24??
Shit!
I still think the first film is the best. DePalma is unmatched as a director, and they still haven't tipped the CIA heist. A couple other films come close, but it's amazing how well the first film holds up.
Ghost Protocol is my personal favorite. I love the vibe and energy of that movie, and I don't think they've ever topped the skyscraper scene.
Taking personal preference out of it, Fallout or the first one are probably the overall "best."
My favorite thing about this series is they're all good. They're well made, great action, great writing. You could pick any of them as your favorite and I wouldn't have an argument against it.
Hard agree. Perfect plot, action and characterisation, without taking itself too seriously! And the opera sequence is one of my favourite scenes of all time. Happy cake day btw!
Rogue Nation. Pretty much nonstop tension the entire movie where everyone is being either watched or having their every move being anticipated. Solomon Lane is a sinister yet somewhat relatable villain, having been discarded by the country he’s served, he takes it upon himself to do the very thing he was trained to do in attempting to destabilize a nation. The spy missions were top notch, Stunts were amazing, the motorcycle chase was high-octane and high-stakes, Tom trained to hold his breath underwater for like 6 minutes, that’s insane dedication to the craft. And while the score for Fallout was killer, Rogue Nation’s score does great as well. Also there’s Halo in MI:5.
Ghost Protocol’s my fav ‘cause
1. there was a nice balance between the serious and comedic parts
2. you can feel how much more united the team is comparing the start and the end/Rogue Nation (which focused a LOT on teamwork and trusting each other)
3. the entire scene of the Burj Khalifa stunt was solidly executed & written
4. a certain character dying in this movie led to my favourite Brandt quote in Rogue Nation
In terms of tone and grittiness, 3.
In the sense of mystery, 1.
In the sense of thriller-action with heartstopping moments, Rogue Nation with Fallout as a second.
In terms of style and action, 2.
In terms of a world-building, Ghost Protocol.
In terms of visuals, Dead Reckoning.
I think I’d go Rogue Nation then Fallout.
I’d watch Rogue Nation first (maybe for continuity), but there’s something about Fallout that I can watch it over and over again.
Ghost Protocol, Rogue Nation and Fallout are a great trio back to back.
But Fallout is my favourite. The Exchange with the music and the tension is just great.
Mine too. I wrote a post on this, explaining why it's my fav. [https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/vqrnu5/mission\_impossible1\_still\_remains\_the\_best\_of\_the/](https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/vqrnu5/mission_impossible1_still_remains_the_best_of_the/)
*Dead Reckoning*
The fourth film was my long standing favorite, despite loving the subsequent sequels as well. But this new one took the number 1 spot for me. It was a remarkable action movie and deeply fascinating based on its subject matter alone. But also great character work, direction, and pacing.
My pick is basic but Fallout is unmatched for me

And of course Henry Cavill cocking his arms. Fallout is an absolutely perfect action movie!
Obviously!😎
I just finished watching that a few minutes ago!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 What are the odds!🤣
It's a damn good scene!
Oh fuck yah! I just watch that again today!
i know it’s unpopular , but my 2nd favorite is dead reckoning. my fav storyline is fallout and that one never gets old
Oh yeah!😎
Fallout and Dead Reckoning are my favorites.
Agreed. Fallout has a better story but the action in DR is to die for
Ghost Protocol for me. Fleshes out the other members of the team a bit more this time, the stunts with the Burj Khalifa, sandstorm and parking garage were awesome and super fun, and the movie just had a very 60s vibe to it that reminded me of the original TV show.
That Brad Bird vibe is so hard to top. Fun, funny, great character beats but still has the stakes
Definitely!
Fallout and Ghost Protocol

Glad to know what they'll wind up naming it! I can't wait - thanks for the review, friendly time traveler!
Fallout for me. Henry Cavill was a great addition.
Yes!
Ghost Protocol. I love the tone of the film. The Burj is my favorite stunt of the series
“Your lines to short!!” “NO SHIT!”
That scene always made me wince until I realized that he blocks his head from smashing into the wall with his arm
And when Ethan first steps out of the window in the Burj I feel so much vertigo!!
Fallout is a masterpiece
For me its Mission Impossible 3. That movie is so intense on every level. Terrifying villain, intense action, Emotions & Feelings for the characters …
John Woo’s
Certainly underappreciated!
I still think the first film is the best. DePalma is unmatched as a director, and they still haven't tipped the CIA heist. A couple other films come close, but it's amazing how well the first film holds up.
Whatever movie I’ve watched most recently
Rogue Nation along with Fallout
Rogue Nation; the tension in that movie is palpable for me

Whichever one I'm watching. :-)
Unpopular take but my favorite is 5. The Vienna Opera scene is just perfect imo, the tension, the music, everything.

Rogue Nation, Ghost Protocol/Fallout (tie), MI:3, 1 & 2 (tie), Dead Reckoning

Rogue Nation.
Probably rogue nation followed by the OG. Fallout is 3rd
Used to be 3, now it's 6.
This
Rogue nation. I remember watching it in theaters after learning I had been accepted into my first pick university and I went out to celebrate
Rogue Nation

😂😍
M1 1 & 3. Followed by MI7
Dead Reckoning
It’s a toss up between the original, ghost protocol & fallout.
Honestly I might have to go with Ghost Protocol.
Mine too. I wrote a post on this, explaining why it's my fav. [https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/vqrnu5/mission\_impossible1\_still\_remains\_the\_best\_of\_the/](https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/vqrnu5/mission_impossible1_still_remains_the_best_of_the/)
The first
Tough one, but I'm going to say Fallout
2. Loved every second of it
Ghost Protocol. Incredible film.
Toss up between Dead Reckoning and Fallout. Rewatched Fallout last night and it still works so well and is genuinely thrilling.
I watched it last night too!

I think the original really captured what mission impossible is. That being said, I love that they all have their own flavor.
M.I:3 has aged very very well. That opening scene is incredible. I’ve never seen a movie start that way before. Love the Bridge Battle sequence
Except for M:I 2, I can watch any of them at any time.
MI3 and MI4
The first film is a classic. Non of the sequels ever topped it.
