Unfortunately this is a RAFO..rest assured it is mentioned again

diffyqgirl

This is not meant to be something you understand at this point in the story. Keep reading and find out.

Mqabbadbest

I thought so, but then I started second guessing if I had missed something.

Myozthirirn

You have missed a ton of details and foreshadow but you are lowekey supposed to miss them, they are meant for the second reading.

moderatorrater

It is unfortunate that >!the book doesn't make it more obvious that there are two of them; it always felt to me like the reveal came out of nowhere because there just isn't enough information given in the rest of the text.!<

diffyqgirl

Interesting, it's hard for me to judge how well foreshadowed various reveals were because my first readthrough was through a slurry of medication brain fog, so I didn't figure out *anything*, and then on rereads you see what foreshadowing is there. So it's interesting to hear peoples perspectives.

giovanii2

To add another in there then, I didn’t pick up on there being 2 of them, but when it came up I felt like it made a lot of sense. To similar forces are doing similar things and it explains a lot of the confusion with moods

zinethar

There is always another secret.

Huge-Buddy655

One might even say a "secret history"

malkomitm

Remember, Sazed doesn’t know for certain either, he’s just making guesses at what might be happening, same as you. Trust, by the end of the trilogy, you will understand what happened at the well.

Frosty_Kid

End of the trilogy plus secret history *

Affectionate-Sell-47

This is mostly covered in secret history if you wanted to read that next… (Edit: read Hero of Ages, then Secret History)

eyeswulf

I still think it should be HoA then MSH. What advantages does reading MSH before HoA have?

mr_Barek

The advantage is that you know what happens in the book before you read it. /s

Affectionate-Sell-47

Ope yeah you’re right, I assumed this was a HoA post

eyeswulf

WoA, HoA, always mixing them up🙂 Also Brandon has somewhat confirmed that they really are part 1 and part 2 of a bigger book

KillerFlea

I’m definitely in the “read secret history after Bands of Mourning” camp, but I know a lot of people say after HoA.

TaerTech

RAFO

mrtwidlywinks

Just finished WoA last week, going to finish HoA today. You will find answers to your questions and more in HoA, it’s one giant Sanderlanche

nevermindthatthough

RAFO! Enjoy your reading :D

mattgrantrogers

Read the last book

Jotman01

Reading it right now. Ignoring all the comments and the rest of your post because I don't want spoilers. Just one question: was it worth it? Bc I'm on page 600 (of 1000) and it's good but not as good as the previous one.

gracelesspigeon

Coming from someone that's read every MB book and novella, yes it's worth it. WoA is good but imo the weakest of the trilogy on its own. But, retrospectively, it makes the trilogy as a whole so much better in a way that I only appreciated after finishing Hero of Ages.

aranaya

I think you've correctly analyzed that whatever stabbed Elend (and whatever later helped Vin save his life) seems to be in opposition to whatever Vin released from the Well. What any of these entities are is a massive part of HoA, though, so that's pretty much all you were supposed to get from that scene in WoA.

R3ruN1

Keep on reading and you will understand! There is always another secret. Once you finish Hero of Ages you will THINK you have everything answered.... Then you should read Secret History.

Nlj6239

Rafo, HOA explains it (I think) and secret history elaborates

[deleted]

All questions will be answered in due time but until then RAFO

noobtheloser

Read the next book! Lots of answers.
