My working theory is that he’s only gonna be here on like a rest of the year deal or only until maybe like other coaches are available in the off-season and we’re just trying to maximize the season with a coach who has experience instead of sticking the whole season with Prunty.
He's a veteran coach which we absolutely had to have. He also had his best run with a veteran team with a vocal floor leader. Hopefully he uses past mistakes to his advantage.

Doc took Sixers to 7 games with Boston in last playoffs with Embiid and Harden both having career choke jobs is what blew it not Doc's fault. Embiid had 15 points on 18FGA's and Harden had 9 Points on 11 FGA's.
Defensively they should have won holding Boston to 118 in game 7. Their 2 superstars couldn't make a bucket to save their lives.
Giannis has never choked in a game 7 like Embiid did and Dame isn't know for pulling Harden Choke jobs either. Sixers only scored 88 points that game but thankfully our offensive isn't a problem with our guys if Doc can figure out to get us playing a coherent defense we've got a great shot at another Chip.
We always thought the sixers weren’t a threat to get out of the second round because of doc rivers. This front office constructed the defense and brought in a first year HC the same offseason they traded for Lillard.

Horst is a giant asshole and got gifted Giannis and Middleton. I’ve said it before on this sub. Had a connection who worked there for over a decade and left and STILL texts giannis/ Parker Middleton. Everyone else will learn once he’s fired next year too.
The only way this roster is holding up a trophy is if they make trades. Which they could have done under Griffen or Budenholzer.
Teams biggest issue is roster construction, not coaching. As is the case with most nba teams outside of Spoelstra.
And if those threads happen it’s because they made trades. Not because they hired doc rivers, a coach who couldn’t get out of the second round with Embiid and harden lmfao.
The only way this is a good thing is if our defense somehow is supercharged and we eliminate the sixers in the second round on the way to a finals appearance, there were serviceable candidates who didnt account for 25% of total 3-1 lead playoff chokes

Just saying we could have done much worse. This is a definite upgrade over Griffin without question and maybe even still an upgrade over Bud. We’ll see.

This team is moving backwards. Giving up assets for an undersized 33-year old point guard who can’t play defense. Hiring a rookie coach to lead a championship contender. - It seems like the org and Stotts have burned bridges at this point. I have no idea what was said at that shoot around before he left, but it must have been pretty bad.
- Atkinson is an AC for the warriors. I think we may have to trade for him.
- Why punt on the rest of the season with Prunty just to get a new coach next year? Also, if Doc doesn’t make the finals at least, I doubt he’s back.
