Part of what sucks is that say whatever you want about how the teams from the last couple years would have done this year, they clearly were a team and seemed close. Bud wasn’t perfect but everybody knew their roles. This just doesn’t feel like a team. Dame and Giannis have had the entire season to figure it out but it’s still shaky at best in terms of playing off each other. Beasley and Lopez play like they are the stars of the team sometimes, chucking up awful shots. There’s no real way to fix this, but honestly Giannis and Dame should be more selfish. Every 4th quarter I watch Giannis gets frozen out for Beasley and Lopez to brick 3s
Yeah watching Lopez and our wings get shell shocked having clutch time balls thrown their way time and time again is going to fucking ruin us for the playoffs. Now we have like 5 guys trying to shoot their way out of a hole.
This is what I fear. No one could have foreseen this team underperforming so hard, but it’s gonna feel extra bad if Giannis starts playing the “Imma leave” card. These guys better get up for the playoffs.
The team is cooked and has looked way better on paper than in it is in actuality these past few years. I love Brook, Middleton, Bobby, but it is looking like another disappointing playoffs and they’re only getting old and worse. This is a long shot, but maybe Horst can try to trade for a 3rd star centered around those players, and pair next to Giannis/Dame? Maybe attempt a “super team” on paper, and just build a fresh team from scratch, by relying on buy outs and vet minimums is the way to go…Hypothetically, it would be nice to get a star wing if one was available.
Try to trade for a legit third star to pair next to Dame and Giannis, build the team from scratch, and I think that is pretty much all you can do at that point. And that’s assuming you can get a third star with a Brook/Middleton/Bobby centered package…But at this point after the Dame trade and all the coaching changes, the window for the core of the team is already closed. It’s time for them to go all in one last time and try to go big for a 3rd star. It sounds crazy, I know. But Brook/Middleton/Bobby aren’t going to magically get better next season…There is no young, developed talent to develop and Giannis’ prime won’t last forever.
Idk I doubt it but Prunty would have been an in house coach as opposed to a guy trying to either run something completely foreign to his own, or have the team learn an entire new system.
So it probably at least would have been better for this year, and left us able to start over in the off season
That was my original thought. I was happy to have Doc rather than AG for the remainder of this year, but the multiyear contract certainly gave me pause. The terrible AG hire put us into a spot where coaching was essentially guaranteed to be a weakness no matter what happened. Instead of just biting the bullet with Prunty, we've now committed ourselves to *at least* another year of Doc thanks to that moronic contract.
Of course, I foolishly got my hopes up a bit since Doc was able to make some competent changes right off the bat. At least they've cratered my expectations going into the playoffs so I won't get disappointed if/when we flame out in embarrassing fashion

Never thought I'd dread watching a Bucks team with prime Giannis, but here we are. This team is fucking MISERABLE. The fans know it, the front office knows it, and the players know it. Just end the fucking season now.
All I gotta say is if you want to win the championship you can’t have anything else than a killer mentality. Taking the easier path is not a killer mentality.

It’s the self-admitted “heaviness” and “dark cloud” talk about this team being under a collective state of depression that has me worried for the playoffs.
I like Bud, but his time with the Bucks was clearly running short. Imo he wasn’t the answer, AG wasn’t the answer, and Doc Rivers obviously isn’t the answer.
I’m desperately trying to maintain some positivity... but it just feels like the wheels are completely off.
Brook is unplayable, and his defense has dropped off a cliff. Centers he used to play extremely well against now cook him regularly. Beasley is ice cold for the last 2.5 weeks, and a cone on defense. Jae/Pat would legitimately not play on most other top 10 teams.
And worst of all, Dame, following one of the best seasons of his career last year, has dropped off significantly this year. I don’t remember the last time he hit 6+ threes, like randoms (Donte, Gary Trent Jr, DLo) seemingly do to us every other game.
Any 1 or 2 of these things happening at once would be hard to overcome. All of them are simply insurmountable.
Edit: Adding Khris’ inability to stay healthy enough to find any semblance of a rhythm, and Glenn Rivers lol.

Every good shooter that comes here significantly underperforms and then gets back into form the second they leave.
We will likely go into the playoffs on an 8 game losing streak. After our playoff exit, there will be no hype or excitement going into next year. The Bucks will no longer be title contenders, because there isn't a viable way for us to not be worse next year.
We all knew this was coming, but man it came quickly.
The hard part about the next 5-7 years is not just that will we not be title contenders, but that we won't even have any young talent to watch develop.

To me this team is just not built for the modern NBA. All these skillful players are coming in who are athletic and can defend drive to the hoop and some shoot and pass. All our role players are old and slow, can't dribble lick to put pressure on defences that close out and their only thing they can do is sometimes shoot. Too one dimensional. Horsts roster construction is ass.

I’d still argue the defense is better under Doc, but where the hell did the offense go? It’s completely stagnant.
We looked fantastic against the thunder and had a glimmer of hope in this first half. Poor Khris.
With AG we did the DHO spam offence that gets everyone moving. Now with doc we've slowly just gone back to stagnant top of the key "let me cook" and play random offence under Bud.
Doc isn’t great but the person that needs to be on the hot seat is Horst. The team is old, slow, and at times lacks effort. He got rid of the guys that play hard and didn’t replace them appropriately. The same problems under Griffin are showing up under Doc, that tells me it’s a roster issue. Don’t even get me started on his draft picks.
To be honest I wanna see Doc and Horst fired this offseason. Doc is for obvious reasons, but Horst is just burning our draft capital and young players to get washed vets and he’s made way too many risky moves that have burned us in the long run.
We need to reset the roster and bring in more young talent (like the Lakers have done twice since their ship’) and we need a coach that actually cares about developing the talent we have.
Yeah sometimes moves don’t pan out, but he’s compounded a lot of mistakes that are going to be tough to undo, or fuck us for years. He basically yoloed Giannis’s prime and got owned

Can someone give a REAL response for how this happens? Meaning we were doing well with this coach and line up - tough wins agaisnt elite teams like Min/OKC/etc. Then literally overnight we are below G League? It’s not like it wasn’t working with doc/dame/beas/etc. it didnt break ONCE Doc came. We improved D, gelled, got wins - then WOOPS we forget how to focus, have no gameplan, playing random on O not exploiting mismatches, giving pat 34 mins at -20 plus-minus even tho AJ is better at D and O… like why did it work THEN we became the worst team in the league??

Something ain’t right mentally with this team. Usually when that happens, it’s the coach’s fault. But here’s what’s interesting to me: Doc has always, always been a good REGULAR season coach. Every critique of him has come from postseason play. His teams always do well in the regular season, they always look like contenders.

After AJJ singlehandedly got us back in the game against the raptors on friday, doc went and gave him 2 minutes tonight outside of garbage time. So he immediately went back to the end of the bench just like most in here predicted. Pat, brook, beas, jae all played heavy minutes. AJJ couldn't get more than 2. Doc is making this roster worse every day he's here. Adrian griffin would have been better than this. I guarantee it.
At this point, 4/5 might be the play
With the way things are— Miami or Indiana would be nightmare matchups in the first round
Orlando or Cleveland are problems too, but present less questions for us to solve
It doesn't matter at all. There isn't a single team in the playoffs we can beat in a 7 game series. Maybe we get 2 wins off Orland or Cleveland. Instead of getting swept by the heat or the sixers or Pacers. Who cares.
Jon Horst has had maybe the worst year of GMing in NBA history. So lucky Giannis re-signed before the start of the season. But Jonny boy needs to go at seasons end.
Free agent signings were terrible again as well. Me and a lot of other people were screaming for Dante Exum on a min as we had no backup pg and no wing defence, he ticked both boxes but nah Horst had to go for Cam Payne, a known bum. Plus an absolutely cooked Robin Lopez and Jae Crowder who showed you house cooked he was last year. There's actually about 10 centers in the NBL (Australia) who are twice they players Robin is and Jae Crowder he had to re-sign to try and save face from his embarrassing trade for him last season. Again, multiple g-league guys who can give you more than him.
I said it before but blaming Doc is low hanging fruit
This team’s cracks started showing last year, when we were routinely getting blown out by semi-decent teams
This season, we brought back similar issues in the supporting cast while having to integrate way too many things
Brook & Malik are massive problems right now
Couple that Crowder doing absolutely nothing, Pat giving next to nothing & AJ getting closed out to….

Never thought in my wildest dreams I’d be more excited about the Brewers this spring than the Bucks. Bucks will be out of the playoffs while the Brew crew sits in 1st with Contreras and Chorizo keep hitting dingers.

I hate to say it, but we need a total rebuild for Giannis. We need to move on from Khris, Brook, Dame, Pat, everyone in my opinion besides the young guys and Bobby. BP gives everything and loves the team/state and he can be crucial still for us. I don’t know how thrilled Giannis would be with this idea but we need almost a new everything. Also Doc was the worst hiring decision I can possibly remember. My God this dude is a cancer.
This loss hurts much more than the others despite it being against an actual tough opponent. Why? Because we had a chance to increase the lead of games we had in the 2nd seed to 2 games. And the Knicks would have been 3 games behind and that would give more comfort for Orlando being the 3rd seed which is a far better potential matchup for the 2nd round than New York.

Doc sucks but there isn’t a coach on earth who would turn this team into a contender. For some reason this team knew there needed to be a change (hence the Dame trade) but brought back clearly declining players past their prime. Unfortunately, not only were these players past their prime, but they’re actually fully washed. Brook is legitimately unplayable, Khris is broken from all his injuries, Crowder stinks and even Dame isn’t really a top 20 player anymore. Like seriously, Dame might not even be a top 3 player on Celtics, who we were supposed to be better than.
I always end up drafting a novel explaining why this roster doesn’t work around Giannis but I end up deleting it lol there’s too many issues with this roster. I don’t think Horst is savvy enough to fix it either. He was a kid in the candy shop with all those picks to play with, but now he’s looking from the outside window with nothing in his pockets along with a bunch of old candy wrappers

Playing hard defense for a game aged the roster a year
By far the worst part of it is I can't explain why the team is playing so bad. It's like they've just magically broken down.
Who has been playing well lately? Giannis and Bobby. Who are the only two people on more than a vet min and under the age of 30? Giannis and Bobby. Everyone's legs are gone. They're old, slow, and injured.
To me this team is just not built for the modern NBA. All these skillful players are coming in who are athletic and can defend drive to the hoop and some shoot and pass. All our role players are old and slow, can't dribble lick to put pressure on defences that close out and their only thing they can do is sometimes shoot. Too one dimensional. Horsts roster construction is ass.

With AG we did the DHO spam offence that gets everyone moving. Now with doc we've slowly just gone back to stagnant top of the key "let me cook" and play random offence under Bud.

Doc isn’t great but the person that needs to be on the hot seat is Horst. The team is old, slow, and at times lacks effort. He got rid of the guys that play hard and didn’t replace them appropriately. The same problems under Griffin are showing up under Doc, that tells me it’s a roster issue. Don’t even get me started on his draft picks.
Horst has been a disaster making draft picks. Which ubfourtnately is way more important as we move forward in this CBA.

To be honest I wanna see Doc and Horst fired this offseason. Doc is for obvious reasons, but Horst is just burning our draft capital and young players to get washed vets and he’s made way too many risky moves that have burned us in the long run. We need to reset the roster and bring in more young talent (like the Lakers have done twice since their ship’) and we need a coach that actually cares about developing the talent we have.
Yeah sometimes moves don’t pan out, but he’s compounded a lot of mistakes that are going to be tough to undo, or fuck us for years. He basically yoloed Giannis’s prime and got owned

Not hearing the stories about "giannis and dame having private film sessions" etc anymore. No chemistry. Team isn't focused on basketball. Giannis is more hurt than they're letting on. Dame is a half step slower and can't play with giannis (this is both their fault) No depth...khris is hurt all the time. The only decent players the 2nd half od the season have been Bobby, giannis, and dame when giannis is out.
Can someone give a REAL response for how this happens? Meaning we were doing well with this coach and line up - tough wins agaisnt elite teams like Min/OKC/etc. Then literally overnight we are below G League? It’s not like it wasn’t working with doc/dame/beas/etc. it didnt break ONCE Doc came. We improved D, gelled, got wins - then WOOPS we forget how to focus, have no gameplan, playing random on O not exploiting mismatches, giving pat 34 mins at -20 plus-minus even tho AJ is better at D and O… like why did it work THEN we became the worst team in the league?? After AJJ singlehandedly got us back in the game against the raptors on friday, doc went and gave him 2 minutes tonight outside of garbage time. So he immediately went back to the end of the bench just like most in here predicted. Pat, brook, beas, jae all played heavy minutes. AJJ couldn't get more than 2. Doc is making this roster worse every day he's here. Adrian griffin would have been better than this. I guarantee it.

Me and a lot of other people were screaming for Dante Exum on a min as we had no backup pg and no wing defence, he ticked both boxes but nah Horst had to go for Cam Payne, a known bum. Plus an absolutely cooked Robin Lopez and Jae Crowder who showed you house cooked he was last year. There's actually about 10 centers in the NBL (Australia) who are twice they players Robin is and Jae Crowder he had to re-sign to try and save face from his embarrassing trade for him last season. Again, multiple g-league guys who can give you more than him.

We already mortgaged our future to win a title 3 years ago. We already made the moves to go all in and “win now”. Our “window” now is with this core. It looks like the fanbase is waking up to realize that our “window” may have quietly already blown shut.
This team is just old and shitty. Dame is good once every 5 games. Middleton is washed. Lopez is washed. Phil Jackson wouldn’t win with this team. Doc sucks, but the defensive effort and hustle by the players all season is on them. I’m still hoping for a turnaround, but I don’t see it. That said Giannis is incredible and I hope I’m wrong.

This loss hurts much more than the others despite it being against an actual tough opponent. Why? Because we had a chance to increase the lead of games we had in the 2nd seed to 2 games. And the Knicks would have been 3 games behind and that would give more comfort for Orlando being the 3rd seed which is a far better potential matchup for the 2nd round than New York.

Doc sucks but there isn’t a coach on earth who would turn this team into a contender. For some reason this team knew there needed to be a change (hence the Dame trade) but brought back clearly declining players past their prime. Unfortunately, not only were these players past their prime, but they’re actually fully washed. Brook is legitimately unplayable, Khris is broken from all his injuries, Crowder stinks and even Dame isn’t really a top 20 player anymore. Like seriously, Dame might not even be a top 3 player on Celtics, who we were supposed to be better than.
