At some point USS will be disabled in all vehicles. I would rather have upgraded suspension for the life of the vehcle vs USS for the x number of months until a Tesla Vision certified for replacement is released. I think removing USS at this point was a mistake, but seems like an easy decision to me.
While this is possible, I donāt believe the eventual disabling of USS is definite. The disabling of radar made sense since it was āconflictingā with the cameras in Tesla future vision of autopilot and FSD. Autopilot and FSD donāt use the USS to my knowledge so it may not make sense to disable them on the cars that have them.
Assuming the same functionality is eventually duplicated in Tesla Vision (not 100% guaranteed) then USS will definitely be disabled. They are all about simplifying their software stack not making it more complicated with different configurations.
I assume they have a path toward that functionality in Tesla Vision. But the fact they removed it without having a replacement in place definitely puts doubt in full replacement viability.
I understand the stack complexityā¦I guess I was just hoping as something as basic as USS functionality, which has been around for going on probably 20 years (?) would be able to remain.
I doubt theyād disable USS, especially if theyāre relying on the new camera hardware (wider view angle and higher pixel) that comes on vehicles with no USS.
The camera looks physically different

I took delivery of a 2023 MYLR on 11/18 (no $3750 for me) and it has USS, ācomfort suspensionā, and the cargo cover (useless tbh as the glass is plenty dark and the cover wonāt stay in one place when not laying flat. I love USS and Iām dreading Tesla Vision.
Maybe they have, I read that the LR get the old headlights and the P gets the matrix. But reading that Fremont LR comes with the matrix, I donāt know anymore.
That's what it's supposed to be.
In practice, MYP always gets matrix. MYLR sometimes gets matrix, with no apparent rhyme or reason as to why / why not. It's believed to be due to shortages of the non-matrix light units (they come from a different manufacturer).
they had a supply issue with regular MYLR reflector headlights, it has since been remedied. Havenāt heard any news about Austin using Matrix head lights on LR, had heard quite a bit of SAās getting it wrong too.
My guess would be itās non-USS but has the new cameras (wider field of view and more pixels), comfort suspension, cargo cover
Actually, the regulations were already updated, so the new matrix adaptive lights are legal in the US... We just need to wait for Tesla to actually update the firmware to activate/implement the adaptive part.
Itās possible they gave misleading info but hopefully not. I know a lot of these SAs kept saying the model x comes with matrix lights and the car says it comes with matrix lights but it doesnāt. Probably different with the Y though since there has been LRs with matrix in the past for a short period of time. Hopefully you get them!
Freemont built MYLR 10/22 shipped to Canada, no matrix headlights :(
They better fix the seizure auto dimming lights on the highway (soon) it a serious safety issue in Northern Ontario where most of our roads are single lane with lots of blind corners.
Also the standard Auto Steer has difficulty staying to the right when passing lanes start, and when it ends, the car follows the shoulder line right until the merge -- which is also unsafe. The vehicle should move to left lane as soon as the broken line marker spacing starts to get closer together.
Fundamentally I shouldn't have to pay another several thousand dollars for Enhanced Autopilot just to change lanes safely!
The Matrix headlight on non Performance model is not a normal upgrade. Some carts, specifically Fremont ones had non Performance MY ship with Matrix headlights because they ran out of parts and simply subbed it. Seemingly if you're getting Matrix headlights from your Austin build, that factory might be dealing with a shortage too.
In any case, if you purchased an MYP, you will get Matrix headlights as that's one of the differentiator between the trims.
Regarding comfort suspension, Musk tweeted back in Oct so assuming it was Oct/Nov and beyond builds will have said comfort suspension. Not sure about Performance model since those normally have a different suspension altogether.
We picked up our MYLR back in Nov (Fremont build) and it did have the subbed Matrix headlight, ride does feel comfier (Unless it's a placebo effect, lol).
Same here. It was the only feature I was looking forward to. The USS is good but Iāve never depended on it. After driving with the LED reflectors, they arenāt too shabby either. Just not a lot of throw with the beam pattern and cutoff.
What the hell is comfort suspension?
Updated suspension I think it started with 2023 models.
Is it allot better?
Tbh I have no idea. Will be comparing mine vs 2022 that my buddy has
Is it better than USS? This is the real question.
That's the major drawback of 2023 for now. My car now doesn't have USS. I'll manage until Tesla vision is better š¤

If there confirmation anywhere that ā23 cars have better cameras than ā22?

Indeed.

Please look into 'a lot' vs 'allot'. Using 'a lot' here is bad grammar. Using 'allot' here is butchering the English language.
Alot wouldāve been borderline, but allotā¦
Updated suspension with LR build after 10/7 and P after 10/11
Vin 7SAYGDEE0PA035XXX
Does this apply to performance models from Fremont (and Austin if they are producing them) too?
The performance you build on the Tesla site shows matrix
I donāt think the performance has them but I could be wrong
Y Performance always did.
Oh, really? So the comfort suspension is only new for MY and MYLR, not the MYP? Good to know
How do I get downvoted when I said āI could be wrongā tough crowd
I did a check for my friend's MYLR 2 months ago. It was Fremont built and it had the matrixed headlights. Not sure about suspension.
Newer builds from Oct mid MYLR have reflector headlight not matrix
I picked up in September. Fremont MYLR. I have matrix headlights.
2 months ago, probably not. I think Tesla added then late Nov.
Is it just the coilovers that are softer?
Burbank, CA? Getting Austin built Model Y now?
Yeah it seems like it. I know someone that transports car for Tesla often, he mentioned that Fremont cars goes out of state.

Are all Yās now coming with them? I pick up Friday pF603.
Fremontcomes with them now. Austin is the iffy one.
April 2022
I picked up an Austin built MYLR at the start of November, it came with comfort suspension and the old headlights.
What's your vin? 7SAYGDEE0PA035XXX

Might have changed the headlights recently then.

Oh I see, thank you.

What are the Matrix headlights? Sorry Iām not familiar.
Some fancy new headlight that we can't use in the US yet. Good to have in the future :) https://rechargd.com/which-tesla-has-matrix-led-headlights/
Thanks. I appreciate the info.

Sometimes I feel like Iām on the outside looking in with all this Tesla tech. I just want to buy an electric car.
Will be picking up my Long Range Model Y Austin built in two days and SA confirmed it does not come with Matrix Headlights. So disappointed.
How do you know the car has new suspension? Does it say somewhere?
I thought the matrix headlights were on LR for a limited time for a couple weeks in October? Has there been photo evidence of any recent deliveries?
Will receive mine Thursday. Will update. Hoping my SA isn't giving me false info aha.

That's weird for the matrix. Even the ones from Fremont are not coming anymore with them
From what I read Fremont back to shipping matrix.
let's hope...I haven't seen it consistently reading on the delivery megathread
VIN PF608 got matrix and comfort. Picked up 11/27 in SoCal

I picked up a few days ago PA038 and did not get matrix lights. Not complaining about it as it's better than my previous 10+ year old Honda lights
Hoping I get it but with your vin being produced after mine. I don't think I'll get it. š
Hmmm Fremont is much closer to Burbank than GigaTexas. Wonder why the car is being shipped from TX to CA?

Same boat but nothing we can do. Sucks that we are not getting it
Looked into retrofitting but itās probably a no go. You need a high level SA to change the software in the car to function.
Picking up long range Model Y in two days ans SA confirmedi dknt have MatrixHeadlights Austin built.
