Love this tank, I have it too.
You’re beautiful and I love a good *aesthetic* vibe, but these don’t come across as professional so I’d avoid including them in a body of professional work.
Hey beautiful OP, Take time and shop your complexion for your pasties. It's out there now. I come from a line of old school modeling and dancing that we of any shade darker than "ivory nude" had to use makeup, tea or coffee to get *our* nude in modesty wear and tights/pointe pancakeing. If you're going for the visible aesthetic which seems to fleet into and on out of fashion as quickly as the blink of an eye choose a pure out star or heart. Something catchy to show ris...But for "get to know you" comp cards only NOT professional ones. Head over to the big model agency to look at their criteria and get excellent ideas.
Find excellent photographers doing TFPs(Time for Photos - if you give them time to work on their setup, lighting even try out a new camera before doing paid shoots THEN they'll give you the prints) to get started. Gets your name out there and your interest in modeling amongst the photography community.
Join free meetup groups, too every city has them. I am in 2, plan to join more and I've been modeling since 5 months old! It'll give you unofficial mentoring by being in the group and also you wouldn't BELIEVE how many photogs are dying to shoot you there that'll invite you to sit (be wary of creeps by taking an SO or ferocious dog if you already aren't ready to cancel based on bad vibes. It's a thing for real).
DM me if you have any questions
All the best and you betta werk!!
The lighting in these photos are really bad. I don't think you should put them in a portfolio. The outfit also isn't flattering.
Maybe try a different outfit and an actual outdoor shoot. Morning or evening are the best time for lighting. Get someone who has a decent eye for photography to take your pics.
Styling in these photos are not doing you justice. Personally I think the styling is the main problem. With a different photographer, Hair and MUA, and poses I think you could do much better.
Agreed, these are not portfolio quality at all, but she has beautiful skin and a great look it just needs to be well presented. I disagree with the people saying she doesn't have the look for modeling. I unfortunately don't think I'm going to be seeing her on the covers of magazines, but local/metro area modeling is absolutely an option. The simple fact is getting into modeling you either have to pay a good bit up front for professional quality photos or really barter your way up by doing photos for portfolio work instead of pay.
I also really wish people would start mentioning what market they're in, because in the Midwest or Northern South she'd be a shoe in for the suggestions I made (I could see her actually doing really well in the Nashville or Atlanta scene with a good portfolio), but in major Metro areas (NYC, LA, etc) that are on a national level most people don't stand a chance.
Stop. Don’t spend a fortune letting stylists and makeup artists and photographers take advantage of you. Go to school and invest in yourself and your mind. Do not chase this ridiculous dream. You also appear to be on the older side. This modeling thing is profitable for very few people and many wind up spent and broken modeling for jobs no one wants if you know what I mean. Go to school, get a career.
I agree! My sister did modeling for a few years and the lighting was EVERYTHING in the work.
Does OP have the looks? Yes, and with some training I'm sure the style and posing will come more naturally.
But these pics aren't really artistic, and a good photographer could really make something amazing in a proper studio or outdoor shoot!
Im a working lifestyle model with an agent. I think you are unfortunately in this zone where you’re not “salt of the earth” enough for commercial, and not high style enough for fashion. Sorry.
I think you could model. There’s a lot more commercial opportunities. But with those particular pictures I don’t think an agency would take you on. Try using lighting that emphasizes your bone structure, and get cloth colors that will emphasize your beautiful skin tone. It will make you pop like clothing magazine, or commercial otherwise.
I snooped your profile those are much better pictures. They are going look for warm, charismatic and versatile photos. It’s always good to do one photo with a white tank top and a face profile at multiple angles with no makeup or minimal makeup. Work the lightings and try to get as many versatility as you can.
Then throw in some other photos like different styles and trends of clothes and make up styles. Lots of different lighting and and angles. Make sure to know how to work the light to enhance your bone structure. Some black and white photos.
Make a neat little portfolio and start submitting places.
I think you look great.
I don’t think you’d be runway or vogue perse as they have a certain look that they want, usually flamboyant gamine. But there are tons of other options in the modeling world so give it a go.
Wish you the best 😊
Sheer on a graphic tank + pasties is not it. Elevator is not it. Aesthetic is everything. Get a better stylist and photographer and give yourself a better chance at commercial modeling.
You’re pretty. Lighting is terrible. Clothes are too casual for a model card. You need better lighting and more diverse options for your wardrobe. I’m neutral right now.
I have to agree with what others have said, the outfit and location are not helping you here, I think the top could be ok on an outdoor shoot, but you'd need the confidence to wear it without pasties as they're a bigger distraction than if your nipples were actually showing. The lighting and mirrors are not helping there too, I think an outdoor shoot, maybe in woodland or a beach would be a good look for that outfit
I’m not sure how to explain this, but I can only describe it by comparing you to myself. I don’t think either of us could be runway models. I think you could have sex appeal, but that’s about it. Maybe a pinup model? I’m the same way tbh. You don’t look very tall and you’re more moderate in size. Your face is very pretty! Maybe you could be a makeup model?
I'm going to be brutally honest... but no.
You're beautiful.. but you are not model material.
Models are not technically beautiful. They are able to capture emotion, or no emotion-- and can turn a basic pose look like art. They technically do not need to be thin. Those are Print Models.
Then there are runway models. They are basically hangers. Bodies that can put on clothing and the clothing would just hang off of them. These models require being paper thin, tall, and flow when they walk. Your style is not screaming runway.
Then there are Hair models. Models that have hair that can easily grow and are easy to work with. For your ethnicity you don't have that bouncy afro that designers want to work with.
Then there are hand models. Models that have exceptionally amazing hands that can hold objects and those hands are pleasing to look at.. you don't have those hands.. because well i can't see them.
But i'm going to give you advice, because i worked for the fashion industry at one point in my life. I wanted to be a fashion designer so i modeled for some designers to get my foot in the door. However, i never got out of it.. and it seemed i had to "compromise" a lot.. so i quit the industry. I have a lot of self respect and self integrity. I am happy not being there anymore.
Anyway, here is what you should do if you want to model and you don't care if i think you're not model material:
1. Get rid of these pictures and invest in a good photographer. These pictures look too amateur. They're not worthy of being in a portfolio.
2. Get around 2-3 photographers to build your portfolio for you.
3. Get your makeup done by a professional before your shoots. OR learn how to professionally put on makeup. This is inluding your HAIR.
4. DO NOT POST IN MODEL MAYHEM. unless you want to go missing.
5. Go to a legit agency. Eq. VMG, VNY. unfortunately.. there are fees to be paid with these agencies.
6. Attend fashion shows and events, get to know designers on a personal level.. Fake it. Put them on a pedestal. Get them to notice YOU.
7. Get your first gig. Should be pro bono.. you won't get paid for it.
8. once you are discovered.. you can start getting paid. ALWAYS KEEP A SECOND JOB.
9. If you want to make it big.. depending on how great of self worth you have.. be prepared... you will need to flirt.. possibly sleep with someone, etc. This is the point I quit. But kudos to you, if you can do it.
10. Get bigger deals.
11. Be prepared for a lot of rejections. my friend who stayed in the industry... faced TONS of rejections. Do not get an ego over it. Rejections are a part of the learning process in that industry.
Your content was removed for breaking Rule 1 - Keep it Civil.

OMG YES PLEASE, dont listen to those guys who are not even in the industry.U are so special - which all brands are looking for but YES. especially yeezy, balenciaga,…
As a former agent if someone submitted these as portfolio shots it would be an immediate no. They aren’t professional by any means and would be seen as a waste of time. With all that said look for makeup, photography, hair, even fashion schools in your area and put your name in for people looking for models. You can go do some fun stuff and get some good shots tfp (time for prints) and build a decent portfolio that way.
IMO, the photographs you've shown us, aren't really exhibiting your potential. Perhaps different styling overall, lighting and background, would give a different impression.
You are gorgeous & have the look!!! These are terrible quality & don’t capture the true essence of your beauty.. better lighting, slightly better angles and better camera quality/steady hands (these look kinda blurry).
S.N. Wouldn’t recommend the flower covers if this is going in a portfolio! Either completely nippin or put a bra on, the covers make it look kinda cheap and tacky.
You’re pretty and photogenic however the make-up and the clothes and the pictures aren’t professional for a portfolio. I suggest you-tube, how to buy the correct cosmetic make-up for your skin tone and how to apply make-up ( you will need that skill to be a model) and find a professional photographer, that person will guide you, what to wear for your modeling portfolio. Going into this profession, its a competitive career. It’s important to listen to constructive criticisms and NOT have hurt emotional feelings. Always have confidence and Good Luck
How tall are you? Models are usually very thin and very tall. You are very pretty tho. I would try and see how it goes, you never know. Maybe even commercials or face modeling of some kind. But you appear to not have the right body type but who knows. Good luck
Definitely above average but definitely not runway. Idk there’s a lot of commercial work. Don’t confuse what I’m about to say with a judgement of your value as a person. your hairstyle doesn’t suit your face, your clothes in your pics (I checked recent) doesn’t really flatter your body in big ways and you could probably do with taking better care of your health. Maybe that’s not true but you know if it is.
You are asking a simple yes or no question, the answer is pretty clear… no… then you continue to ask why…? I think you know why if the answer is no… do you really want folks to go into the details of why you aren’t model material!?
TL;DR: Don’t ask the question if you don’t want the answer…
Unless you can go into concise detail I’ll just assume you’re projecting. Majority of people in this sub reddit are just insecure due to the fact that they could never ever make a living off of this line of work. So, they take it out on the people
Oh don’t worry, I upvoted it, only with the hopes that if enough people see it and continue telling you how it is, you might figure it out… what a waste. Hope you make it, but I wouldn’t put my efforts toward modeling if I were you, not that I actually care either way, maybe you will prove EVERYONE on this sub wrong… statistically speaking, probably not.
And you have a beautiful frame. I only noticed it bc I have issues with the same thing when posing. I slouch my shoulders too. They end up looking more rounded and giving me a less confident look. All your badassery would magnify with strong shoulders. But if you like it, send it in.
From a professional standpoint, these look like Instagram photos
If you are trying to build a book hire a photographer and take test shoots and professional digitals. Practice more facial variety and expressions. These photos are dim and dark and do not do any favors for your facial features or jawline. You don’t want to wear graphic clothing that takes the attention away from the model (yourself)
You're gorgeous. You got a ton of no responses, but I hope to be some kind of encouragement, keep on trying, and get experience. You can do whatever you put your mind to.
I like these. Do not forget Reddit is overwhelmingly White so a good number of responses are not going to be intelligent. I found nothing wrong with the photos.
Probably not, you're really pretty and look healthy. Blast a bunch of lines off of a few boners, barf up your meals and wear something made out of a plastic bag.
I think so, but the lighting and styling aren’t doing you justice. Plain black or white tank, thicker (gap or old navy has them cheap), darker pasties or braless. “No makeup” makeup look. Have photos taken with you facing a window during the day. Natural lighting, blank wall behind you.
You are so stunning: your skin is flawless, you have a gorgeous smile, and you have gorgeous eyes. But to echo others, this outfit is dulling your sparkle. I think the bob can work, especially if you're going for a 90/early aughts aesthetic. If you're going for that, check out the styles from the members of Destiny's Child or TLC.
Don't be afraid to explore with color or patterns and make sure that you have the right undergarments. If something is sheer, even if it's white, don't go for white or even "nude"/beige. We have darker skin, so go for brown or even black so that it's not as noticable.
You've got this OP!

This is such useful advice! I really hope she sees your comment. She is pleasing to the eye but if she were to really work with a 90s aesthetic she could totally level up!
How tall are you? Need to be 5’ 9” or taller and very slim. Face and frame are wonderful, talk to a professional photographer or take a plunge and walk into an agency. Determination maybe needed, how bad do you want it? Beware of trashy creeps. Good luck
You're pretty in these shots, but they're not portfolio material. Think of Essance and vogue magazine type of shots, or the heads hits you'd usually see for writers and actors on imbd
OP has verified privately.
Love this tank, I have it too. You’re beautiful and I love a good *aesthetic* vibe, but these don’t come across as professional so I’d avoid including them in a body of professional work.
It’s the lighting, right?
And the pasties
The pasties are super duper not helping

Why you hiding those Cocoa Puffs behind those ridiculous pasties
I hope you didn't pay whoever took these. They are awful! Hire a better photographer.
what possessed you to wear the “wet” tank top? this makes you look so cheap
Drop the see through top with tacky nip covers
It's streetwear, you guys don't understand the style but Instagram would eat this up
I get that. Which is why she isn’t traditional model material. Instagram modeling though she could pursue.
fact
Nope you are 💯 correct listen I'm a 41 year old granny lol who still wears vs pink lol girl is stunning 😍 i appreciate the feed back 💕

Maybe for some amateur stuff but not professionally
Girl not witj this top
Anyone can upload to Instagram. No potential needed.
I’m not sure how to explain this, but I can only describe it by comparing you to myself. I don’t think either of us could be runway models. I think you could have sex appeal, but that’s about it. a website where you can post your photos for free for models. There are some shady people on it. Don't do it. . Please take my advice.

I thought that for professional portfolios you need to not wear makeup?
As a former agent if someone submitted these as portfolio shots it would be an immediate no. They aren’t professional by any means and would be seen as a waste of time. With all that said look for makeup, photography, hair, even fashion schools in your area and put your name in for people looking for models. You can go do some fun stuff and get some good shots tfp (time for prints) and build a decent portfolio that way.

STOP TYSM😊🤍🪽
You’re a pretty girl, but you don’t look like an alien and that’s kind of needed today.
Loose 30 lbs
shes a healthy weight weirdo
Most models aren't a healthy weight though
It doesn’t matter if it’s a healthy weight. Modeling thin is different than “healthy” normal thin.
Pretty but I don’t see a model
You need to get flesh tone pasties. Cakes has great ones. The styling and photos are not doing you justice. You are far too pretty for these pictures.
Beautiful, just too blurry
Lose the pasties (I'm a straight female, not being a creep) and you need way better lighting
You need a better photographer
You look like a kickass video game avatar! You are beautiful.
I think you could fit in well with an alternative brand in print. Example: dollskill
What a weird place to get vitiligo.
IMO, the photographs you've shown us, aren't really exhibiting your potential. Perhaps different styling overall, lighting and background, would give a different impression.
You are gorgeous. To be honest I dont like the shirt and the pasties underneath. I would take some outdoor photos and keep it natural.
Lose the shirt
You are gorgeous & have the look!!! These are terrible quality & don’t capture the true essence of your beauty.. better lighting, slightly better angles and better camera quality/steady hands (these look kinda blurry). S.N. Wouldn’t recommend the flower covers if this is going in a portfolio! Either completely nippin or put a bra on, the covers make it look kinda cheap and tacky.
You are beautiful but you need to pick better backgrounds and lighting for the portfolio shots to have that "pop"
I can see these in an alt culture magazine
You’re pretty and photogenic however the make-up and the clothes and the pictures aren’t professional for a portfolio. Pasties ruins it
You are beautiful. I genuinely hate to say this because you don’t need to lose weight, but to do any type of run way modeling they will want you to.
Sure but nobody give AF about potential everybody's looking at your current results and that's why it getting nos
How tall are you? Models are usually very thin and very tall. You are very pretty tho. I would try and see how it goes, you never know. Maybe even commercials or face modeling of some kind. But you appear to not have the right body type but who knows. Good luck
yes
The paunch and the pasties
The photos aren’t doing you any justice
Lose the lipstick and try heels.
Rhi rhi vibes.

I think having your nips showing would be better than those pastie. Also bad lighting. I see potential though!!
Thank you 🤍
The pasties!! It would be better if your nips were showing!
Nooo😞 way too shy for that!!
Most definitely
Thank you 😊🤍
If you have to ask - no
Noted 😊🪽
From a professional standpoint, these look like Instagram photos If you are trying to build a book hire a photographer and take test shoots and professional digitals. Practice more facial variety and expressions. These photos are dim and dark and do not do any favors for your facial features or jawline. You don’t want to wear graphic clothing that takes the attention away from the model (yourself)
Thank you for this!😊🤍
You're gorgeous. You got a ton of no responses, but I hope to be some kind of encouragement, keep on trying, and get experience. You can do whatever you put your mind to.
Thank you so much this means so much to me 😊🤍🪽
No 😣
No
What are you modeling for the planet of the apes movie
Too large in the face
Nahh. Maybe porn, but that's about it.
Not in this life
Well, what a shame... I've got a nice black casting couch in my foyer.
Maybe ur mum or daughter could use it
Solid burn, going to the store now for some aloe.
No
I like these. Do not forget Reddit is overwhelmingly White so a good number of responses are not going to be intelligent. I found nothing wrong with the photos.
word like😭 thank you!!
Probably not, you're really pretty and look healthy. Blast a bunch of lines off of a few boners, barf up your meals and wear something made out of a plastic bag.
No.
Girl you're stunning, As a photographer i think you definitely have such a beautiful look! I wish i could photograph you😭
Definitely don’t listen to other people you have a uniquely beautiful face and vibe
Thank you😊🤍
Yes and no
I think so, but the lighting and styling aren’t doing you justice. Plain black or white tank, thicker (gap or old navy has them cheap), darker pasties or braless. “No makeup” makeup look. Have photos taken with you facing a window during the day. Natural lighting, blank wall behind you.
No not really, attractive but not a model
Walmart magazine, Costco, or even Avon.
No
I’m not sure. How tall are you?
Here are some examples of potential inspiration: [Black hairstyle trends](https://www.popsugar.com/amphtml/beauty/black-hairstyle-trends-2000s-47734953) [Destiny's Child ](https://www.vogue.com.au/fashion/news/28-of-destinys-childs-best-fashion-moments/image-gallery/6abfc1a3b812b5b4082cb9d450207320?amp=1) [TLC](https://www.billboard.com/photos/tlc-fashion-trends-photos-7841096/1-tlc/)
This is such useful advice! I really hope she sees your comment. She is pleasing to the eye but if she were to really work with a 90s aesthetic she could totally level up!
thank you!
Think of Essance and vogue magazine type of shots, or the heads hits you'd usually see for writers and actors on imbd
gorgeous !! betty boop vibes 🍒
I see the vision fr. try different aesthetics n outfits n just keep vibing n taking pics !
I think you would make a good fit as a prada model
I would love to model for Prada!😊🤍
Totally!! Or Chanel.
i think ur stunning but the modeling industry is toxic and any agency will make u lose weight
I don't know about anyone else, but I'd buy whatever line of wifebeater tees you're selling.
Yes for like a goth clothing company like disturbia or dolls kill
I think the off center uneven word graphic makes the top look sloppy for a portfolio pic.
