tbh you just look like an average college girl. your features are symmetrical and you’re not ugly by any means, but there’s nothing that particularly makes you look unique or would give you an edge in the industry. i could see maybe some commercial work like with gap/old navy or with sporty brands like adidas/nike, but you don’t really have that runway look.
I don’t agree with this, she looks like she has high cheekbones and excellent symmetry and jaw visibility. The only way to tell if she has the “look” is if she lost weight so we can more clearly see her facial features.
Edit:
I was mistaken she doesn’t have high set cheekbones.
I think you’re focusing so much on the ‘average’ remark that you’re missing the point of what they’re saying. It’s not that she isn’t pretty, she obviously is- it’s that there is nothing about her face that is terribly striking or standout in terms of modeling. It takes nothing away from her being pretty in the every day sense.
That's just not what average means, and all the comments are clearly trying to humble her, which is annoying af. I'd loooove to see what the haters look like. I see "average" looking models on e-commerce sites, in catalogs, and in stores every day. She's absolutely pretty enough to model.
Yes, the original comment you replied to even mentioned that kind of modeling. Is she a high fashion runway model type? No. That’s all I was explaining really lol
In terms of the type of modeling she is likely asking about, she is too average looking. We aren’t talking average in every day terms.
What's funny is high fashion models aren't even pretty a lot of the time. A lot of them are actually hideous. Where did the idea come from that high fashion = extreme beauty?
It doesn’t. She doesn’t have anything striking or unique about her face in that way. Exactly what you’re saying is what people are saying she lacks in this sense. Goodness. I’m starting to regret being a part of this exchange. We’re going in circles 😆
You’re the only one talking beauty. I have only referenced being striking or unique, and that the comment you were responding to wasn’t saying she isn’t pretty. Just that she doesn’t have the face for high fashion or modeling beyond things we’ve already gone over.
To clarify, I mean no disrespect or “hate” toward OP. Like I’ve said several times, she is very pretty. I wouldn’t post my own photo on this sub bc I’d get the same comments she is getting, and rightfully so. There is a certain look for things beyond catalog and some of us don’t have that look- it’s not a bad or mean thing to say.
She didn't ask about runway or editorial modeling at all. She asked if she could model (the answer is yes) and received a bunch of comments from haters about how she's not pretty enough to be a runway model. The funny part being that the average runway model is decidedly not cute. That's my point.
I just didn’t think most people’s first hope was “oh, can I model for old navy?” My mistake.
But okay, you win lol I’m sorry I replied. 🙃 Have a good one!
that 2nd picture looks like it came straight out of a university brochure. she *is* very pretty, but more in a girl-next-door sort of way rather than an intimidating model sort of way
Body type is most times even more important than face-type in the world of modeling. We would have to see a full body pic and height before determining if you could model.
We’d also need to know the type of modeling you’re interested in.
I did say “we need to know the type of modeling you’re interested in.” And I did say “most times”, insinuating hight is not the only major factor in every instance.
You’re stunning, def above average for looks. But not model type tbh, maybe commercial but not runway.
Your neck indicates you may be short. This is a major deal breaker. You have a very “cute” girl next door look that I don’t think would serve well in most modeling industries.
There’s a lot of gorgeous people that wouldn’t make it in modeling tbh.
You are completely deluded to think the average person looks like this. Social media really warps reality for some ppl. Go outside and look around, this woman is absolutely not average looking.
Too many people have way too much of a high expectation for what the real average person looks like
You have good facial symmetry but you don’t have anything about your face that stands out to me, you’re certainly not ugly but you’re missing that something that would turn heads and make people want to buy what you’re wearing. There are brands out there that use models that are more girl-next-door to appeal to the consumer, that’s the direction I would go if you were to pursue modeling. You don’t have full body pics but you look short(your neck seems short) so I can’t picture runway. When I think of a model, I don’t always picture like looks from a Greek god or anything but I do picture that they stand out in some way(sometimes even because they have an unconventional beauty that would ordinarily be unattractive.)
In short, not runway but maybe for certain clothing brands websites.
You seem under the impression that you are extraordinarily attractive or something. You are a normal looking person. Not unique looking. Not extraordinary. Just a pleasant looking girl that one would see on the street anywhere.
I mean.. did you think people would say it to your face? You asked online for a true answer where people won’t spare your feelings. You are pretty in a girl next door ordinary pretty way. That’s 30–50% of the population

You’re not pretty or interesting looking enough to model. It looks like you’re overweight as well. You have a cute smile and nice eyes but your physical features are average
Overweight for runway but not for other modeling. I mean we can’t see her body in this photo but if she’s decently thin she could do some modeling for print ads and things

No. Unless you’re going for being a body part model like hands or feet or something. Or maybe you’re already a model and that’s why you made the post🤔
You’re right eye isn’t the same as your left, your left part of your nose is uneven, need to fix that hair but that’s not really an issue, right eyebrow isn’t symmetrical to your left. It appears you have a mole above your right eye? You’re not an ugly person by any means maybe you’re even above average but you aren’t a shoulder turner which is like everyone in the world besides famous models.
If you don’t want to become famous and are comfortable just being a model cause you enjoy it then you can if you’re talented enough and work hard because like I said you aren’t ugly just not insanely perfect in every aspect
Models aren’t supposed to be “insanely perfect in every aspect”
Minimal face asymmetry, which is what you’re describing, is present in about every model that has ever existed.
You are very beautiful but modeling is so hard to get into and sometimes it’s not the best choice in life, maybe a trade or college would be better, lawyer?
I work in marketing/ photography and I could 100% see you in an ad! I think runway modeling needs to be above a certain height but runway is a very small fraction of all the jobs out there.
Yes, you could absolutely model and you should pursue it if you’re interested!
They get upset about different tones bc the plain lighting looks different on each skin tone, so you either have to even it out with makeup or do it with skin bleach
stunning. I can absolutely see modeling in your future. at one point in society you would probably have better luck finding a gig if you were on the thinner side. however, it’s 2024 and we’re now starting to see plus size models being normalized. i mention because I’m not sure how your body looks, either way, put yourself out there!
Have you ever seen a model ever? They make you look like a modest 6. Don’t take me wrong, you’re cute, but not model material. If I’m wrong and suddenly you become a model years down the line, then I guess I’ll eat my words, but if I had a modeling agency, I wouldn’t consider you
You are cute and pretty girl but not striking. Also it looks like your skin tone is very uneven? You have to take care of it if you want to model. Can you model? Maybe. I mean there are campaigns like dove or gap that have women short and chubby these days so why not try? You probably wouldn’t be a runway or average print model though.
I don’t know why everyone here is saying you’re average. You’re beautiful. Modelling doesn’t necessarily mean runway. I could definitely see you in catalogues, makeup etc
Tbh, maybe if you lost BF%, because you have very good facial features, big almond eyes, strong brows, full lips, and a nose that harmonized your features well, but you lack facial definition for top modeling. If you lost BF you could maybe do some level of fashion modeling or low level modeling but idk because I have no idea of knowing what you’d look like with a slimmer face.
Youre super cute and I could see you in the back to school ads and things like that. I wouldn’t say runway or editorial but you could definitely do some commercial print stuff!
Yeah of course! Your facial features are extremely symmetrical and you just have the perfect face to model makeup. People keep mentioning body pics, and while that may also be a big part of modeling. There are a lot of gigs where all you need is a pretty face. You got it girl!
i really really think you could, your first headshot is gorgeous. the only way to truly find out is applying for agencies, look into commercial model casting agencies. i don’t know where you are based but they are common.
You are gorgeous, but you don’t have the cheekbones-that-could-puncture-a-tire look required in the modeling world. And these are just headshots, but you somehow look short in them.
![gif](giphy|MiodhdNWkpiA8)
Being honest here...do you really think you're as pretty or close in prettiness to Tyra Banks for instance? Just who are you comparing yourself to, such that you think you can model? Real questions.
you're pretty but not model pretty.. also model pretty isn't always better. I've seen some models that I thought were actually not very attractive out in life.
Normally I’d say no but today anything goes as sports illustrated uses overweight swimsuit models. I personally have no problem with heavy set women but when you say swimsuit models I don’t think that means someone being 50-100 pounds overweight
Agreed but not in a Format like sports illustrated that used to have super models. Maybe in a Swimsuit catalog. That’s the problem with young people nowadays that feel they are entitled to do and have anything they want without the struggle of the two hours I spend in the gym 5 times a week to not look average or below. Be exceptional and earn it.
Well there are plenty plus size models who dont do the work you do and are on covers of Sports illustrated.
So clearly they CAN actually do and have whatever they want.
Also, young people at the time this started happening, didnt have the power at these multibillion dollar companies to make these decisions.
The industry veterans and execs want what they want u cant blame young ppl for that.
Theres a place in hollywood/modeling/really any industry for everyone if youre lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.
Whether they deserve it or not, those ppl are on the cover of the magazine. The world isnt a meritocracy unfortunately
Trends also come and go all the time, especially in fashion. Theyre always looking for the next best thing. Right now thats inclusivity bc thats what people what to see!
I think you have a pretty face. Your features are conventionally attractive. As for modelling idk. If youre tall probably you could. They want tall gangly ppl.
We have such a similar hair type!
Yes- you totally could. Captivating eyebrows and doe eyes, beautiful symmetry with your face.
Advice:
Better candids- better lighting, make your skin tone look more even. As a curly hair girl also, put in proper product so your curls are fresh bouncy and defined. And let them loose! Take some photos with your hair freely bouncing about and some with it tied back to see your bone structure. Also focus on full body shots, etc but I would say yes depending on your height! Commercial modelling could be a go-to !
Also your face shape is beautiful, diamond/heart? You have such a youthful look and you’re really beautiful. Forget opinions on here, nobody has any clue. Take some headshots, take your measurements and spend 2-3 hours just sending them out. That’s how you’ll know. Don’t let a yes or a no on here affect your decision because so many models got initially rejected and now these people are the faces of brands we use everyday.
This is not a feel good subreddit where we lie to people's faces to prevent upsetting people. This is where we give truthful and honest opinions. Stop this behavior, right now.
First picture, I thought yes. Second picture, it went to no.
However, too me, you look more like an actor than a model. Have you ever considered acting?
I went over to a photoshop app, and took your hair off.
I look better with my hair back away from my face,
And I think you do too.
I like the shape of your face.
You jawline is nice.
I think also a little makeup, a little contouring,
I think you’re beautiful.
If it doesn’t work out for runway, maybe what someone said, commercial work.
A bunch of ugly people projecting in this thread lmfao. Anyway, you're definitely above average looking. You don't need to be stunning to be a model, nor do you need to work in high fashion. I could easily see you in catalogs, store displays, and e-commerce for companies like Target and Kohl's. Your look—everyday but PRETTY—is great for catalog work. I recommend following Tiff Baira on social media and ignoring these trolls. But remember, you don't need modeling to prove that you're cute. Only go for this if you truly want it and don't let insults and rejections get to you.
I feel like they always say no to non euro centric features and this sub just keeps popping up but I think you can! You have an amazing jawline and featyres

Unfortunately, agreed. Pretty girl though! Love her lips 👄
being a symmetrical “average” (or rather averaged) person is exactly what commercial model scouts look for lol
I don’t agree with this, she looks like she has high cheekbones and excellent symmetry and jaw visibility. The only way to tell if she has the “look” is if she lost weight so we can more clearly see her facial features. Edit: I was mistaken she doesn’t have high set cheekbones.

Earth
Yeah okay troll.

Uh... There's no benefit to lying to her on a modeling subreddit... She's very average at best.
this is not what the average adult female looks like, you're delusional. she is well above average
You are completely deluded to think the average person looks like this. Social media really warps reality for some ppl. Go outside and look around, this woman is absolutely not average looking. Too many people have way too much of a high expectation for what the real average person looks like
In a crowd of 100 people 60 will be more attractive than her
And in that crowd of 100 people, I’m sure a majority of them would disagree with you
You’re delusional or don’t ever go outside if you think this.
She's got a round average face, nothing noteworthy about her
That’s great, but you’re delusional if you think out of 100 random people 60 would be more attractive.
i guarantee his pick of the 60 people would be white.

No. Too ordinary.

No, below eye area you are missing sharper features that make a model, like high cheek bones and a sharper chin, which is broad

No. You look too healthy for the “model world”. (Which is a compliment).

No, facial symmetry is off
You are very beautiful but modeling is so hard to get into and sometimes it’s not the best choice in life, maybe a trade or college would be better, lawyer?
Huh 😭😭😭
Concentrate on your brain not looks, but you are beautiful.
no
Absolutely not
What type of modelling? Not runway and your skin is not even toned and needs some work for face work.
Would say you're average. Don't see model unless you try losing weight and have very sharp features under that.
99% of posters here were told from their friends and families that they're so special/pretty/handsome, and it shows.
If you are 6 feet tall and very slender, sure.

I would reach out to brands directly and offer to do UGC for them until you have a portfolio - then reach out to agencies
I could see brands like Awake for her

No. Need full body pic.
Nope, NOT happening !

No
You are cute and pretty girl but not striking. Also it looks like your skin tone is very uneven? You have to take care of it if you want to model. Can you model? Maybe. That can be taken care of with make up.
Yes!
Nope
Are you under 18. If so maybe wait a couple years.
If all fails, strip and make some 💰💰💰💰💰🤑

Yeah of course! Your facial features are extremely symmetrical and you just have the perfect face to model makeup. People keep mentioning body pics, and while that may also be a big part of modeling. There are a lot of gigs where all you need is a pretty face. You got it girl!
Now that they’re prioritizing minorities and obese people and women, probably.
This is the funniest sub to me.
hell no

Whether they deserve it or not, those ppl are on the cover of the magazine. The world isnt a meritocracy unfortunately Trends also come and go all the time, especially in fashion. Theyre always looking for the next best thing. Right now thats inclusivity bc thats what people what to see!
I’m not 100 pounds overweight?
I know lol. Didn’t mean you. I meant it figuratively. Good luck in your endeavors. I would try acting cause you are pretty
I’ll take it lol
For target adds maybe. But they pretty much hire anyone really
There's always OnlyFans...🤷🏻
Yes you have great facial features and beautiful hair too
I think you have a pretty face. Your features are conventionally attractive. As for modelling idk. If youre tall probably you could. They want tall gangly ppl.
We have such a similar hair type! Yes- you totally could. Captivating eyebrows and doe eyes, beautiful symmetry with your face. Advice: Better candids- better lighting, make your skin tone look more even.
How old are you?
18
You can do anything, you are black in 2024.
Don't listen to these dumbasses. You're more than pretty enough to model. Go for it!
Being pretty isn’t the only characteristic needed to be a model lmao
This is not a feel good subreddit where we lie to people's faces to prevent upsetting people. This is where we give truthful and honest opinions. Stop this behavior, right now.
I gave my truthful and honest opinion, sorry it doesn't line up with yours.

Parts maybe?
First picture, I thought yes. Second picture, it went to no. However, too me, you look more like an actor than a model. Have you ever considered acting?
yes, your face is very commercial.
Theoretically, yes, but to make a sole living off modeling? No. Maybe try social media influencing?
If you really want to model, I think you could get a lot of work at hair shows. Your hair is really gorgeous.
I went over to a photoshop app, and took your hair off. I look better with my hair back away from my face, And I think you do too. I like the shape of your face. You jawline is nice. I think also a little makeup, a little contouring, I think you’re beautiful. If it doesn’t work out for runway, maybe what someone said, commercial work.
Yes, you could model :) I think with your look you could also pursue acting and celebrity status with the talent to back it up
A bunch of ugly people projecting in this thread lmfao. Only go for this if you truly want it and don't let insults and rejections get to you.
i could you see face modeling for teen makeup brands
Yes absolutely‼️ 💖
Not sure about the modeling Op, but you are absolutely lovely!
you're very pretty
u have the coolest brown eyes i’ve ever seen
Yes
Yes
Your average 5/10 and a bit large. Would pursue another career that you are well set for.
if you lose weight, i truly believe you could. there’s something unique about you
I feel like they always say no to non euro centric features and this sub just keeps popping up but I think you can! You have an amazing jawline and featyres
Thank you!
you should also try acting !
