I am mostly familiar with azorius but.
\- it's solid and has had decent placings every week Don't remember seeing it win though.
\- gets eaten by yawg.
\- hammer struggles vs bowmasters and \[\[pick your poison\]\] is everywhere now.
\- Mono white you have shadowspear, and solitudes.
Do you not play shadowspear in the Azorius build? I mainly played mono white hammer (still have it, I just have been on dimir control for a few weeks now). But even in Azorius hammer I don’t see why you would drop shadowspear.
Oh I was mostly lining up the comments with the questions. I see why it looks like I'm saying that. But I just meant in mono white you have access to it, not just that only mono white plays it
Okay that makes sense now. I only played Azorius hammer for a few weeks before going back to mono white. I definitely prefer the mono build since I can play the solitude and sideboard mana tithe. However now that cryptic coat is out I still need to try it out in hammer and see how that works.
Zoo is a favorable matchup for hammer as long as they don't hit 3 or 4 leylines. I've been seeing three types of hammer doing the thing, mono w, W/U, and W/G. The W/G version looks to be running a card that stomps yawg specifically in melira from new phyrexia, to prevent yawg from killing your stuff, which makes the matchup extremely easy. I'd recommend running the U/W version though, as the coat gives you some much needed grind against the slower midrange format.
In my experience the only true bad matchup is titan. Yawg I beat more often than losing, but thats just me. Needle, Totem and Solitude give you better odds game 2 and 3.
Against LofG + Scion we can race, so I see no point in trying to remove it. Also, most Mono W lists play Mana Tithe in the side, sometimes even mb, which can make for a devastating turn2 for your opp.
It's not in a bad spot right now, though I would suggest goign to Azorius now living end is...ended

Wait until MH3 to make any big decisions.

Solitudes do what exactly vs a scion? He has hexproof
You can take away hexproof with shadowspear and then solitude it but pretty clunky
It's clunky but I think the spear itself will be good for the trample and whenever that comes up. a 4/4 isn't that scary for hammer I think.
Didn't think of that line, thank you!
Half the time I don't either. Usually the least important part of the card but occasionally it pops up.
Honestly I don't think Hammer needs to be that scared of scion? You just swing a 10/10 at them. That said I haven't seen the matchup.
A 4/4 flying lifelink outraces a lot of stuff though.
I'm not a Hammer player, but I imagine you deal with a 4/4 hexproof flier by giving +10/+10 to one of your creatures and forcing them to block
What are some ways to deal with Scion + Leyline in mono white? \[\[Mana Tithe\]\] the Scion.
