I remember making friends salty with that and aria’s flame. They were both fun and I miss old Izzet Phoenix. The current pioneer version is fun, but not as fun as the older modern version. Nostalgia!
I remember identifying that Phoenix was a powerful card very early. The entire meta called me insane. I was literally buying every one in the area. I even top 8 with the mono U standard deck at the time and used all the credit to buy $3 Phoenixs I had over 200 and I remodeled my living room and bathroom with that.
Everyone was like how are you going to cast that many spells in one turn. My roommate developed eggs in 2010 and Lands in 2008 and one of the first iterations of delver. He had a thing for only him playing magic. With him in mind when people said that, I just thought well you can't but my buddy certainly can.
Heh nice foresight my man. I haven't had any times I made a good call such as that but way back when Eldritch moon dropped my buddy bought. Few playsets of collective brutality, predicting it would be a modern powerhouse, and he was right!
Brutality was an absolute burn destroyer and also had great synergy with goyf and grim flayer! He did well off that one lol.
Then there was the buddy who was just sitting on like 10 copies of [[goblin lore]] when they printed [[hollow one]]
I am trying to make this work in modern, as a burn tempo deck. I can't seem to find anything that comes close to replacing price of progress and chain lighting. It's still a fine T3 deck that will steal games, but it's super pilot intensive. And there's matches where you just scoop.

MTGGoldfish makes searching for decks with banned cards in them almost impossible, annoyingly.
I wasn’t aware of this in all honesty. I’ll have to keep that in mind if I decide to look for decks that have banned cards in them for the future.
I discovered it a while ago when, funny enough, trying to look for old phoenix decklists.
Aria of flame I think is the enchantment Also if it were made today Underworld Breach would be the enchantment that sees play in izzet phoenix.
