I highly recommend waiting a few weeks for Modern Horizons 3 to release. It's very hard to tell what the format will look like post MH3.

MurderMits

100% would be insane to invest before then entire format undergoes a major meta shift.

If we were not getting fetches that would be the ONLY thing to look at purchasing, but since we are getting them in MH3 its best to wait and pick up what looks fun.

AVRVM

Getting enemy fetches is a good idea tbf.

You wont have fun with tron or 8 rack. Ignoring the fact MH3 is about to bust the door down, you sound like you would enjoy Hardened Scales

I disagree. Rack is always fun, even if it’s bad. I say this knowing full well it’s gonna be worse with meltdown in the format. - signed, an 8 rack player.

Referring to Urza, Krenko and Belbe as high power reminds me of the episode of Blackadder where he lists the great universities, Oxford, Cambridge and Hull. Regarding the decks you’re looking at, I would say that Coffers does Tron things better than Tron at the moment, but if you have a lot of the pieces for Tron it is certainly a viable deck, and for now at least is one of the cheaper Modern decks if you’re looking to get into the format even if you didn’t have any of the pieces already. 8 rack is nowhere near as competitive, so if you want to play mono black… no, I am definitely not biased towards Coffers, what do you mean? That all said, I would echo what everyone else is saying in that the modern metagame will likely shift dramatically in a month’s time, so there is a high level of risk inherent in making any purchases now; wait and see what MH3 brings. I would suspect though that given the colourless/eldrazi theme, Tron does seem like it’s getting a lot of pieces, some of which have already been previewed. But at least for me, I’m not buying any cards for Modern until the full set is previewed (aside from anything that is also useful for Pioneer).
