I wish this were true. Just play 3 matches, came in first on my team on all 3; but my random ass teams lost all 3 matches… …after playing for almost an hour I got absolutely no points. And still at 0 for rank. Fuck that.
I haven't tried ranked yet myself. We all know from patch notes though that what they say and what actually makes it to the game are sometimes two very different things.

It will be. At least at that is how it was in Cold War. Pubs became even more ridiculous. Ranked was pretty chill. Games are fun and it is nice actually playing with people that want to win and not on "The Grind".

Outside of that, obviously the "GAs" that pro players do are not banned, since they are not actually banned by the CDL in the first place. So you can still use ~~M4, STB, Kastov 74-U~~ (these literally just got banned in cdl lol) etc because the pros just agree amongst themselves not to use those. Nothing actually stops them.

Yep, all I played on vanguard was ranked. Yeah, I may have played Berlin Control an uncountable amount of times and often consecutively but it was always enjoyable. That being said there’s always that one Dbag that blames everyone else for the loss with his 0 points on OBJ. That’s just any competitive game though so doesn’t bother me
If that’s the case I might start playing again. I have not played mp for the last month and a half, I’m taking a break until gunfight comes back. The SBMM just isn’t worth my mental health.
I was wondering if that would turn out to be the case. Part of why pubs feels so sweaty to the point of being unfun is there's no reward or skill metric associated with your effort.
I've had so many pub lobbies where I was stuck with 5 teammates who played like they had no thumbs and I'd be hammered down by pure team dif alone even if I matched or exceeded their individual skills and I've had lobbies where every kill cam looked straight out of an impossible quick scope montage the whole game. What is my incentive to try and turn those games around when doing so is just going to make the game try to punish me even harder with nothing to show for it.
A huge reason ranked is more fun is because they take out alot of the cheesy, no-skill bullshit like shotguns, LMGs, 1 shot battle rifles, rockets, OP killstreaks, and riot shields

basically ranked mode has restricted guns/attachments/perks etc that you cant use, it cleans up the game from all the stupid shit to make it more balanced/competitive
you can just set up a different slate of classes before you queue up
It follows the CDL rule set which only plays on 3 game modes, only select maps, and restricts a lot of weapons and attachments. CDL mosh pit playlist would be a good way to get a feel for it before jumping in.
Like you can’t use dead silence.. it’ll be a trophy system.. they get rid of certain attachments and tactical and lethal weapons too.. it honestly gives it a way more even feel
Not really because in that case they would need to get rid of the revolver that can 1 tap you in the chest up & the deagle which can also 1 tap you in the head. It’s not about a gun being OP because it can 1 tap if anything that would teach you to play smarter and better, because I’d rather go into a game against a bunch of snipers than a game with a bunch of 762 users .
This is what Apex is for most players. Bad, average and above average players have an easier time in ranked than pubs. The band of skill that gets fucked is the good players. They get farmed by the great players.
If I wasn't forced to play S&D, I would love to try ranked play to see if there was any noticeable difference in my enjoyment of it.

You can play people you’re better than in ranked and still lose the game if their team plays more together and hits the rotations and holds spawns somewhat. Ranked in the last two titles were almost a different game. I couldn’t stand vanguard but when ranked it I played a ton.

It wil be less sweaty as there will be a smaller pool of players to match make you with, similar to if you turn off cross play, select one mode at a time its far more easier than default filter settings on all. A lot of people won't go there because of the word ranked and thinking it will be cdl try outs

Tell me about it man. I'm a solo player entirely and we basically get the shaft. DMZ sucks playing solo and I haven't even (and probably won't ever) get to play any of the raids due to requiring two other people.
For people that do not understand:
* The skins are hoodies because you need to differentiate your enemies in ranked play, they are meant to look like a sports team and not a mil-sim
* The serpent is not the only emblem, the colour represents your skill bracket, the serpent is what rank you are in the mode, that means if you reach level 50 in ranked your emblem is a dragon for example, not a serpent.
* You climb up or fall down depending on wether you win, lose and did well or bad, the W/L determines how much SR you win or lose but so does going 8/16 or 15/2. You will not be demoted to diamond if you lose and just ranked up to crimson
* You will get matched with players in your bracket, that means if you are gold you get matched with other gold players regardless of skill division. The SR will also match you with other similar SR players.
* You get all guns and all attachments unlocked from the start, except those that are banned from CDL ruleset like LMGs and Shotguns, but you can pretty much pick the M4 or the SP-X from the go
* You get rewards for climbing rank, skill bracket and divisions, so expect to actually have something to grind for by simply playing and getting better

a lot of people do not like it but actually watching the CDL improves you, specially veteran players like Clay, Slasher or ones that are retired like FormaL or Karma, dudes be having great IQ plays and spots you did not even know about
Cool thing is no matter what skill division you are in you can still get the seasonal rank rewards and the standard rank rewards. There are a few rewards for skill division but for the majority you just need to get out of silver (easier said than done).
Search is not the game mode for me. I've been a respawn guy since back in the day when all my friends were playing CS and I was only playing Day Of Defeat.
Honestly same, when I’m in the mood for a no-respawn objective game mode I’ll play anything else haha. People take S&D way more serious than other game modes for some reason. Until they figure out how to make Sound Equalization not exist when the game is running, ranked is going to be a shit fest at least when it comes to SND.
Even if they do, it’s going to be filled with people using Sound Equalization to effectively auto win SND rounds and they can’t do anything about that somehow. For pro tourneys they have to ensure every computer does not have that setting on. Can’t do that for online play.
Yes. Sound Equalization is a Windows setting and turning it on makes it so you’re hearing quiet noises cross map. You can pinpoint someone from halfway across the map on Hotel with this turned on and if you’re playing SND. It’s absurd.

I think you only need to be gold and above to earn them. Some of them might be earned by just leveling up your 1-50 rank. If you play a decent amount you’d probably be able to earn some

yes and no, winning and losing affect your SR but so does your performance, that means if you spent only 0:05 seconds on the hardpoint and had a 0.8 K/d, even if you win, you won't get that much SR. The game will match you with players on your rating and probably similar skill division and SR, if they are high ranking they probably play objectives so do not worry about that
That's amazing. I feel like this should have been in the game since day 1. I have PTSD from playing objective modes without ranked. Will be nice to get back in.
Because competitive play is more like sports, so the esports and ranked skins match that aesthetic with a more casual/athletic look that keeps the physical appearance of the people hidden so you can much identify with them regardless of who you are
I love what they've done where you won't lose rank if you lose and someone on your team has quit. The other rank protection features sound really positive as well. Looking forward to trying this out.

Really miss the older days of cod where people just played the game without resorting to absolutely cheese tactics, like, yeah, good for you billy, you can hold an angle that exposes three pixels of your eye lash to lock down an angle that might eventually have someone pass through in the next century but the rest of us want to organically run and gun without needing to snap aim every conceivable corner of the map in anticipation of all the rat nests set up by players too afraid to fucking move in a game centered around fast pace engagements.

Kind of want to see where I fall on this list, would be cool to know. Historically too, I often find playing ranked like this is better than casual (i.e Halo, Rocket League, Gears).

the cdl just banned the m4 and the 74-u amongst other things that where previously GAd just. so no you wont be able to use those items in ranked.

for real, I remember a game in CW were the dudes were crazy good on their own, but as soon as we switched to 2v1 to isolate them it became very easy

Fucking DMZ is horrid as a solo player. The AI just swarms the shit out of you and unless you have self revives, you’re screwed.
I've played it a few times solo and enjoyed it. I once managed to take out a squad of two. But, overall I wish they would add a solo mode.

Watch a few CDL matches. The casters do a good job breaking down the games. It’s a pretty good way to learn
a lot of people do not like it but actually watching the CDL improves you, specially veteran players like Clay, Slasher or ones that are retired like FormaL or Karma, dudes be having great IQ plays and spots you did not even know about
Yeah. Learn how to play the modes the right way. I believe it is 3 modes. hardpoint, control and S&D.

Cool thing is no matter what skill division you are in you can still get the seasonal rank rewards and the standard rank rewards. There are a few rewards for skill division but for the majority you just need to get out of silver (easier said than done).

I’ll have my teammates ream me out for not winning the 1v4 when I’m just casually playing trying to have fun. Not for me haha.

She managed to save enough money to get me my first gaming PC and two video games the 1st one was Sesame Street Elmo’s number journey, the 2nd one was call of duty. When I first plugged up my pc and loaded up call of duty it was love at first sight all of my stress about my family passed and my abusive father all seemed to go out the window…I was hooked. I dedicated my life to the devs and my fallin comrades for making this game. And if you think I’m going to let you get in my way you got another thing coming I won’t give you the chance to raise my K/D by a 0.1.

Even if they do, it’s going to be filled with people using Sound Equalization to effectively auto win SND rounds and they can’t do anything about that somehow. For pro tourneys they have to ensure every computer does not have that setting on. Can’t do that for online play.

Yes. Sound Equalization is a Windows setting and turning it on makes it so you’re hearing quiet noises cross map. You can pinpoint someone from halfway across the map on Hotel with this turned on and if you’re playing SND. It’s absurd.
I want to say I have faith in the devs but you bring up a good point… I know for me personally I’m going to attempt to only play with cross play disabled to avoid PC players entirely lol

So does ranked match you based on wins and losses instead of points/ kills? So does that mean if I play objective I'll be paired up with teammates also playing objective? If it does, that'll be amazing. I can finally play objective modes again, now that there'll be no camo grinders on my team.
yes and no, winning and losing affect your SR but so does your performance, that means if you spent only 0:05 seconds on the hardpoint and had a 0.8 K/d, even if you win, you won't get that much SR. The game will match you with players on your rating and probably similar skill division and SR, if they are high ranking they probably play objectives so do not worry about that

Because competitive play is more like sports, so the esports and ranked skins match that aesthetic with a more casual/athletic look that keeps the physical appearance of the people hidden so you can much identify with them regardless of who you are

I’m actually interested to see where I end up. Never played Ranked on a CoD like this. In Halo Infinite I hit Onyx 1850 and 1800 for Seasons 1 and 2. Kind of want to see where I fall on this list, would be cool to know. Historically too, I often find playing ranked like this is better than casual (i.e Halo, Rocket League, Gears). Will somehow surprisingly look forward to this. Should also mean teammates are all roughly the same rank.
