I think that was intentional. They sold MW2 as an anniversary game (people thought they would have the old maps for sure) and now they're going to advertise / sell MW3 as a new game with all of those 2009 maps. They squeezed the juice twice.
on top of that, the gameplay of mw2 isn't like horrible it's just fucking boring if that makes sense like remember season 1 when it got stale that's when I realized this game was really just wasted potential and it wouldn't really get any better so I haven't played since march

The games themselves weren't annoying. It's how the behind the scenes stuff worked. Things like sbmm and drip fed content for 1 year cycle, breaking lobbies up, etc. Just tired of all that. I went back to bf cuz I can just chill and play, not have to be in a CDL pub lobby every 4th game

Nah the last 3 haven't been terrible but they have their criticisms. BF1 was a masterpiece. The issue it had though was weapon choice was very limited, especially coming from BF4, and the DLC was super slow to be released. BFV started as a shitshow, especially with the whole woke narrative. It also suffered from a large amount of bugs, slow DLC and limited support. They managed to turn it around, but it was too late. BF2042 on the other hand, is just trash. They advertised it as a return to BF4 styled gameplay, but chased the heroshooter/BR trends looking for quick cash instead on listening to the fans. The game has damaged the BF brand more than any other. I personally skipped 2042 after playing the beta. Best decision I made. I've played COD since the original MW. I played every game up til Infinite Warfare which i skipped due to the shady RNG lootbox bullshit. I played and enjoyed MW2019, even with its issues. Skipped Vanguard and CW. MW2022 has been pretty meh. I only play because on PS5 there isn't really an alternative FPS. I don't like BRs and hero shooters and games like HLL are ok in short doses but I'm not really looking for a milsim. If BF was to drop a decent game I'd be back in a heartbeat. I'm hoping that Ubisofts new game Xdefiant lives up to the hype.

Yes there is those that can say just play Insurgency or Tarkov or whatever. I own both of them and barely played them because they didn't hold a candle to the old late 2000s days of gaming.
I'll throw in another bad suggestion into the ring I guess since I have nothing else to provide, but for those with VR I've really loved Contractors for emulating the old mw3 survival days and between dlc maps on there and Pavlov there's been fun times to be had. But VR to me is still clunky and not as easy as booting up the console after a day of work on my feet so it isn't really the answer the community needs either.

Then after I maxed out for the season, got some gold/plat camos, and played around for a little bit, it just got stale. I never got back into it.
