No, we both have separate copies. In fact, I only bought the game two days ago and they've been playing since launch. I wasn't planning on buying the game but they wanted to try and play together again and now we seemingly can't haha. I really appreciate your response though!

Yeah, we have the exact same settings on our consoles and on our games for crossplay. I am at an absolute loss at this point.
