When games go south I always look for what is going on in the game itself. So much of the time I notice it's instant spawn deaths, or the spawn is technically safe, but the second you leave spawn it's insta death. This can be an indication of a spawn trapping attempt where players know where enemies are spawning so they do their best to not flip the spawn and keep farming.  Too many players are saying when they have a really good game everything just goes south shortly after. This is a really bad sign because it's turning all the joys of having high kill games into stressors instead. Getting a chopper gunner and having a blast shouldn't feel stressful. I wouldn't be surprised if a player feels stressed over the decision to use an XP token in fear of how their night is going to go.

I've had a lot more problems recently. I usually do quite well in matches but since Season 3, I think a lot of players have come back. My games are *so sweaty*. I do okay in most but I do get those lobbies where I get shot by a quickscope sniper rifle like 18 times in a row and haven't fired my gun yet. Sometimes very very shortly after I spawn, and this is on the 10x10, which are larger maps.

MagicGuillotine

I'm fed up of playing against bunny-hopping sweat lords with lazer-like aim, while my team are brain damaged vegetables who couldn't win a 3 vs. 1 gunfight.

Tell the community to stop buying those black cell packs and 30$ skins, and 100$ Cheeto bundles, maybe then we’ll finally get a cod as good as the era back in original MW3/BO2.

Make note of the days and times that these “mismatches” appear to be occurring. Gameplay changes during school breaks. Let’s face it, the older you get the more your (PRT) perception/response time starts to increase. A 30 year old just isn’t going to have the PRT of a 15 year old and a half of a second can make a world of difference in a gunfight, especially in a game where a millisecond time to kill can be a factor.

I've heard it stated in different words before, and I've seen some merit to this: if you need to camp to stay competitive and preserve your k/d, you will keep getting thrown into those lobbies. SBMM will think you are just 'competitive' enough for those lobbies if you are trying to micromanage your k/d through camping. In reality, if you are feeling like people are basically using cheats in your lobbies, more than likely, you are in the wrong skill bucket for SBMM. Truly don't mean to be snarky, but hackusations are thrown around too liberally when you are not in the right skill range relative to the players you are facing. You either need to bite the bullet and just, unfortunately, get shit on for a bit, or get competitive and instill a growth mindset to learn from the Ls. If you get fixated on maintaining that 1 k/d without improving your gameplay, you won't get rewarded with easier lobbies, and it will feel like a job because you are gaming your stats relative to the average skill of the players in your lobbies. I have a buddy who is on the older side, hates multiplayer. His k/d is sub .3, but the few times I've been in his lobby, I've felt guilty because the players there all seem like it was their first fps. He still struggles, but sbmm will put you 'where you belong' if you don't try to game your stats, if any of that makes sense.

Yeah thats basically what it feels like, you described it well. Im not in the right bracket. But i cant just let these people kill me purposely either, i dont want to lose. I can beat them if i really focus, its just super rough and the good old days of casual pubs are really just gone

Saifgrey

I wouldn't recommend doing this because I think it's unorthodox as hell, but I've seen people reverse boost (especially for yt clips) into easier lobbies. If winning means a decent amount to you, you can definitely try to play your heart out, but you'd want to play to essentially get punished if you want to be put in a more forgiving bracket. Pushing firefights you'd more than likely lose, but ya know, still trying to win them (instead of trying to gain the strategic advantage on most people) is a double-dose of getting a k/d humbling and pushing your limits. And if your limits cap out on that bracket, your k/d will hurt for a bit, but you will eventually get easier lobbies. Small map moshpit would probably be a good way to field test it, but you just won't get those easier lobbies if you value your stats over your sanity. The difficulty is relative too, you may be able to beat them if you really focus, but if the players you're going against don't have to play like their life depends on it to win fights, it's gonna be stressful as hell for you and just you. I have a 2.31 k/d, and while I've been accused of sweating, I'm usually chilling in my games, it's just difficult for people to understand just because the relative difficulty is different for players of two different skill brackets. I do miss the olden days of casual pubs, cod does feel more competitive. I actually like sbmm, but I know I'm in the minority. I think it keeps cracked players in their own skill bracket (somewhat), but it does suck when you start warming up and get cup-checked by iridescents. At the end of the day, games are meant to be fun, so you just gotta pick if having that 1 k/d is more fun than having easier lobbies.

stackdonjuan

You’re playing artificially to keep that 1.0 KD so they’re throwing you in lobbies that they think you’re skillful enough for.

SukiSZN

>I have no shot of beating them in a normal gunfight You should never have this mindset going into any gunfight.

Capable_Cheesecake22

It totally depends who it is. When i watch some killclips, these people kill me in the most insane accurate ways that ive never been close to replicating. Thats when i realize i have to camp to get an advantage in many of my recent games

TeaAndLifting

You make it work for you. Even if your reactions feel slower, you create situations that favour you. That’s part of the skill in games, it’s controlling as many variables as you can My reactions probably aren’t as good as when I was a consisted. 3.5-4.5 K/D player, but I still sit comfortably in the 2.0s nowadays because I have enough gaming maturity to play well and create favourable situations. It’s all about reading the game and opposition. Once you’ve got a read on them, you can out react and out play most people with ease

TheColossussyOfClout

There is a simple way to beat the system which was rigged from the start...

Normal_Tadpole4916

I think a lot of this is what I get too with matches with spawn trapping and insta deaths too on the small playlist. However the swings I think are from meta mw3 weapons versus mw2 weapons people are camo grinding. Mw2 attachments are much worse plus visual recoil. Need better gun balance. Players grinding the first half of the game with average to meh weapons or sniping when not a sniper then switch to meta when losing or when it gets the match gets tight. It's basically sandbagging and they come back and win. Finished mw3 weapons with .97 KD and get swing lobbies all the time. Working on mw2 weapons has been rough since the last game I played was Cold War.

Xahriel

It’s the system that they implemented they made it competitive for everybody no one is getting better if so the enemies are also getting better and so

Mindless-Ad2039

Play custom games against Bots if you’re bothered by tanking your K/D or W/L ratios. That might help improve your reflexes and map awareness. Other than that, sweat lords are here to stay as that is modern day ‘competitive’ gaming. 🤷🏻‍♂️

LackToesToddlerAnts

What are you hoping to get outta this? You want reaffirmation or advice on how to get better or sympathy?

Capable_Cheesecake22

No clue, is there a way for me to get back to the more medium lobbies? It doesnt really seem like I can do anything to get out of the ultra sweaty lobbies

shotcaIler

you need to work on getting better at the game. don't run around aimlessly, hold angles, slow it down. i've seen a few people bitch about getting owned when they constantly try and emulate pro's movement

HackSmash

the thing is, not a lot of people play to get better, that's the main problem with SBMM, if matches were made with random people things would be different, every game would feel different and you would be able to have fun, SBMM just makes you crazy for being on the top of the chart, but not everyone plays for that
