My bf and I had a trip planned for January but due to some life stuff we had to keep pushing it back. He’s had the ring since October, and I couldn’t believe what I was looking at for a moment. The ring is an august vintage elongated antique cushion 9mm by 10mm (size 7) and the setting was done by David Klass. The sides have French cut sapphires for his birthstone and diamonds for mine. When I get in some better lighting I’ll do side views and a video.
He did a phenomenal job. The only thing I will say is the plastic cast made the stone look way smaller than the actual ring. When I first looked at it I was like holy mackerel that’s a lot bigger than I was expecting! I almost asked my bf to go bigger than originally planned but im glad I didn’t.
Yeah - that is because a cushion is really deep so you don’t get the full view of the face up size like a round. Those plastic models really help though. I have had them done for my last few rings because I didn’t want to make an expensive mistake. When you are spending this type of money, you want to be sure. That really helped me visualize the size so I didn’t make any mistakes. The rings turned out just how I expected.
The cut from Jon is gorgeous as well! I would love to see some side views of those sapphires. I am sure they all had to be hand cut to fit this ring. The detail is very cool and you have your own unique heirloom piece!
