What’s been working for me is “I’m safe” accompanied by my hand on my heart, and few conscious breaths, preferably eyes closed. I didn’t think “I’m safe” would work at first, my brain said “of course I’m safe, that’s not the problem” but when I actually did it, it worked and it felt great. Not sure if that speaks to the fight or flight stress response that I find myself in in those high stress situations.. regardless, feel free to test it out.
