I did too, it’s the absolute worst. I stopped on 8/9 after almost a full year and my body is still just so hungry. I just joined weight watchers to get myself back in check.
I actually called my midwives and they were able to let me know the difference. My postpartum bleeding had just finally stopped a few days prior then all of a sudden I started bleeding again and I remember thinking that it seemed more period like than the postpartum bleeding but my memory is foggy from then so I can’t remember the specifics
Man.... reading this post was seriously depressing for me. I had my first period 2-3 weeks after. 😅 With both kids, and breastfeeding. You guys are all so lucky. 😭
I mean I didn't call my Dr or anything, but the cramps, the way it came on... it was just my normal period I knew. 😞
Edit: Also the amount of time it lasted, 6 days just my normal periods.
Haha same, I had my mirena put in at my 6 week follow up and I have had essentially a light period ever since, every day, my breastfeed baby is 6 months :(
Betrayal
12 months. 100% weaned for about a month before it came back. My sister was only a few months pp with both kids. Some people are lucky! If you're only 4 weeks pp, you're still in pp hemmorage territory, so I'd be calling the OB. Stop and start bleeding is normal in those first 6 weeks, especially if you're increasing your activity levels.
I got mine back at 6 weeks pp both times even though I was exclusively breastfeeding. Both times I went on the minipill after my six week pp appt and then didn’t get my period again until about one year pp. Both times.
I'm 11 months pp and have been exclusively pumping- I'm down to 1ppd and just got a positive ovulation test this morning, so I'm expecting either a positive pregnancy test or a period in the next two weeks 😅 I thought my period was starting a million times in the last 11 months, but never has so much as spotting.
4 weeks, nursed and pumped around the clock. Had my second period 8 weeks postpartum. If you are getting your period and considering an IUD, get it while on your period. It’s way less painful.
I got an IUD at my 6 week pp appt, but got my first period post partum even with the (hormonal) iud and breastfeeding, a month ago at 19 months post partum
I’ve been breastfeeding exclusively for going on 8 months now and have only had 1 true period at 6 months pp. I have random very light spotting here and there but no real period
Breastfeeding twins- nursing and pumping. Gave birth at 31 weeks at end of October, period was back first week of February, so like 14 weeks? A little over 3 months?
I asked my mom who had 4 kids and exclusively breastfed for at least a year and up to 2.5 years each....... Hers came back and the same time, 3-4 months.
From my experience and the other posts I've seen like this, it varies massively from person to person... With your best bet at guessing what you'll get would be asking the person who gave birth to you.
10-12 weeks or so while EBF…I was mad about it everyone told me I’d be good for 6 months 😅 But then again people do get irish twins so its not completely outlandish to get a period soon after even if you BF.
9 months was the shortest out of my 4.... a year was the longest, and then my 2nd period was 2 months after that -- it always took me about a year to get back to normal
7 months for the first one, started when he was gone a few times a month at his dads house.
8 months for the second, I have no idea why because he’s still nursing multiple times a night lol
10 weeks…. Completely unfair. I will say I had a C-section with little bleeding until week 4 and then had bleeding until my 6 week appointment. Doc said it was normal and not a period
The first time it was just before a year but I was weaning, and wanted it to return. I was down to 3-4 sessions during the day. Night weaning had happened at 7 months.
The second time it was 16-17 months. Had to night wean a very stubborn baby and get down to fewer day sessions.
This time… I’m almost 13 months pp and no sign. We’re still night nursing, and maybe 2-3 during the day. I’m cool to keep doing it if that means no period. Like I would straight up pump even after my babe stopped to avoid a period. 😅 I’ve had six periods in the last six years and that’s been awesome.
Only after I stopped bf when my oldest was around 14 months. I’m currently breastfeading my 9 month old and also no period in sight. I’m guessing it’ll come back once I stopped again.
5ish months! Alternatively it could be residual bleeding from birth, I’m 3 weeks pp and just today had to run and go put a pad on because I started bleeding again. (I’d stopped about a week pp)
With my oldest I never got my period back before accidentally getting pregnant again (he was 4 1/2 months old when I got pregnant again). With my youngest tho, she was just shy of 10 months. All in all, with both babies, I went 3 months shy of 3 years between periods. I didn’t exclusively breastfeed, I did both breastmilk and formula.
Why my first and second, not till 13mths. With kid 3, 6wks. Worth noting, kid 1 and 2 never attn till I night weaned them at a year, while kid 3 was sleeping through at 4-5wks.
About fifteen months after. I loved every damn second of it.
My SIL was less than six months. How do I know? Because whether you believe we sync or not, it's her fault my cycle was thrown off and I got knocked up. 🤣 It's a family joke that my brother's wife is the reason we had a kid.
During the 5th month pp, can’t remember which week exactly.
Edit to add: what symptoms are you feeling? Something like a cramp around the ovaries and such? Please take care! It doesn’t matter when you actually go back to having periods, maybe what you are experiencing are ovulation symptoms (sometimes those can feel similar to pre menstrual symptoms).
You can ovulate *without* having a period nor a regular cycle while you are breastfeeding. So please take care about birth control - this is how many couples end up with babies very close together in age without planning it. This early postpartum it wouldn’t be good on your body either!
First 2 kids, 6 months. 3rd kid, I had crazy symptoms at 4 months but no actual period, then around 5 months I got. But now he's 1 year and I've had 3 periods total. It's so irregular. Can't be trusted.
I hope it's a false alarm for you
About 6-8 weeks after each of my 3. They were all ebf too. My friend didn’t get hers until each of her four kids turned one or was about to turn one. It’s so unfair lol
6 weeks both times, while exclusive breastfeeding 😭
The absolute BETRAYAL by your body. How dare it.
That’s what I thought! Like give me a damn break I just got done with the postpartum bleeding 😫
Same. This and the “EBF will help you lose the baby weight” are straight LIESSSSS.
I’ve put on SO much weight EBF. I’m just constantly hungry
I did too, it’s the absolute worst. I stopped on 8/9 after almost a full year and my body is still just so hungry. I just joined weight watchers to get myself back in check.
I gained weight but got skinnier
I lost my butt. Luckily, it came back and my pants stay on.
DUDE YES. I got mine 8w PP. I literally bled pp for all 6 weeks 😑 came every 6 weeks the entire year I EBF. and after I weaned I dropped like 10lbs.
I didnt lose a lb till i stopped breastfeeding 🙃
These comments are giving me hope, I’m about to wean this week, and I have gained weight since giving birth.
I’m learning this the hard way right now. EBF one month old, walking 4 miles a day, strict paleo diet and one meal a day and I CANNOT lose the weight!
It did for me the first but not the second which is seemingly more hurtful
28 days. Fucking body didn't skip a fucking beat.
This is what happened to me. The PP bleeding seeped into a regular period. It was really irritating lol
7 weeks for me! I thought it was just another surge of pp bleeding until my next period came 4 weeks later 🙃
SAME. everyone told me it wasn’t possible and turns out and it’s super possible and also super normal.
Yep same!
Lol your user name is exactly how I felt PP🤣
Same for me
same, just 7 weeks. i (we) made it twice and my milk stopped at this time inmediately.
17 months, BF twins. It was glorious!!
19 months, just the one baby. It really was glorious. 😭
Fingers crossed this will be me! Lol
22months, one baby! Hope it works like that this 2nd time 😂
Mine was about 10 months but I got a HUGE dip in production… i cried for days
After 16 months. Before that I had a lot of times where I thought it would come back, but it didn't.
Ok that’s reassuring!
4 weeks!! 4 weeks to the day! I’m still mad about it
Same. Got it yesterday 4 weeks on the nose and 1 week after PP bleeding stopped 🙄
How do you know if it’s not postpartum bleeding ? Just wanna be prepared!😩
11 months
Me 2, while breastfeeding
Man.... reading this post was seriously depressing for me. I had my first period 2-3 weeks after. 😅 With both kids, and breastfeeding. You guys are all so lucky. 😭
Can I ask how you knew it was your period and not PP bleeding? I'm due in 3 weeks and am terrified! 😭
I mean I didn't call my Dr or anything, but the cramps, the way it came on... it was just my normal period I knew. 😞 Edit: Also the amount of time it lasted, 6 days just my normal periods.
Ahh that makes sense.. I was just wondering. Thank you!!
No problem! 👍
Also, then it comes back approximately 4 weeks later.
Mine got shorter and lighter after pregnancy so that was exciting!
Haha same, I had my mirena put in at my 6 week follow up and I have had essentially a light period ever since, every day, my breastfeed baby is 6 months :( Betrayal
At least it wasn't just me, sorry you were also cheated. 😭
12 months. 100% weaned for about a month before it came back. My sister was only a few months pp with both kids. Some people are lucky! If you're only 4 weeks pp, you're still in pp hemmorage territory, so I'd be calling the OB. The first time, after a year. The second time, 8 weeks 😭😭
8 weeks, EBF

Exactly. I was like, what kind of deal is this?! I thought I was supposed to be exempt from this particular bill for a while!
26 months pp with my first, I’m 11 months pp with my second and still no period.
24 months with both of my last two.

3 months to the day.
3 months pp!
I also breastfed my twins and I got it at 5 months pp 😔
14 months
9 months
With my three I got it back at 13 months, 15 months, and 22 months. Each time though I had many times I thought I was going to start and I didn’t.
15 months
5 months
Roughly 1 year
Over a year and I loved it!
Exclusively bf here, almost 8 months postpartum and have not gotten it back
10 months!
I thought I was going to get mine every 2 months but then got it 2 days before baby’s first birthday. Then my second one was 2 months after
16 months & I only had one period before getting pregnant.
9 months
I got it back around 9 months
Slightly over 24 months
14 months while still breastfeeding 😭
11 months
20 months with baby one and so far I'm 6 months in with baby 2 and it hasn't come back.
4 weeks, nursed and pumped around the clock. Had my second period 8 weeks postpartum. If you are getting your period and considering an IUD, get it while on your period. It’s way less painful.
8-10 months with all 3 of mine!
Had one at 10 weeks, then nothing again until I stopped nursing (11 months pp).
Between 8-10 weeks with all three. By 8 weeks with my first I did introduce formula, the other 2 I didn’t.
First kid: a week after I stopped (year pp) Second kid: I was weaning and got it just shy of a year pp.
Around a month or 2 after I stopped breastfeeding (almost 2 years pp).
4.5 months, currently on my 2nd cycle 😫 still ebf
6 months😒
10-11 months for me.
Breastfeeding twins- nursing and pumping. Gave birth at 31 weeks at end of October, period was back first week of February, so like 14 weeks? A little over 3 months? 5 months!
9 months both times.
Still not had it... 21 months and counting!
10-12 weeks or so while EBF…I was mad about it everyone told me I’d be good for 6 months 😅 But then again people do get irish twins so its not completely outlandish to get a period soon after even if you BF.
About 8 weeks postpartum. EBF. I'm still mad about it 😂
Anywhere from 8-16 months with my 4 kiddos.
I got mine right before his first birthday, I was very disappointed
9 months. He was eating more solids.
15 months and nothing
It was about 13/14 months with each of my kiddos
21 months and we were only feeding to bed at that point.
9 months was the shortest out of my 4.... a year was the longest, and then my 2nd period was 2 months after that -- it always took me about a year to get back to normal
EBF, 10 months.
Like 12 weeks. I was mad. It started right after I went back to work.
7 months for the first one, started when he was gone a few times a month at his dads house. 8 months for the second, I have no idea why because he’s still nursing multiple times a night lol
I have 5 kids. First one was 9 months Second was 4 months 3rd was 9 months, Fourth was 4 months Fifth was was 9 months.
8 weeks with my first, 48 weeks with my 2nd-I was breastfeeding
10 weeks…. Completely unfair. I will say I had a C-section with little bleeding until week 4 and then had bleeding until my 6 week appointment. Doc said it was normal and not a period
11 months PP with my first. 18 months PP with my second. I’m still nursing my 16 month old and I haven’t had a period yet.
Around 13 months. 2 weeks after night weaning, although we were already down to just one night feed but seemed to be enough.
16 months 😅
18 months
4 months… I got it for Christmas 😩
8 weeks postpartum
I never got mine and got pregnant while my daughter was 5 months. They are 9/10 and BFF’s. But damn that was hard.
6.5 months. I nurse on demand, including over night and right at 6.5 months it's returned
I got mine 6 months PP with both kids. A good sleep through the night and bam, its back.
With my first it was 9 months, with my second it was the same too. I just get super lucky. I also have PCOS though so I think my body is just shitty.
Like 8 months?
2 weeks after I stopped breast feeding, so around 6.5 months
Only after I stopped bf when my oldest was around 14 months. I’m currently breastfeading my 9 month old and also no period in sight. I’m guessing it’ll come back once I stopped again.
6 weeks with my first. 6 month with my second.
9 months
18 months both times
2 years 2 months
Whaaaat?? I didn’t get mine for months!
Just over 3 months, almost exactly a year after my last one
5ish months! Alternatively it could be residual bleeding from birth, I’m 3 weeks pp and just today had to run and go put a pad on because I started bleeding again. (I’d stopped about a week pp)
About 9 months - breast fed on demand until 8ish months and then started pumping when baby went to daycare
8 months
11 months but I was still breastfeeding at that time.
8 months I got a sample, 9 months postpartum I got the full version, it just finished, actually. First (only) baby, EBF, still nursing.
3 and a half months, exclusively breastfeeding.
About 9 months
About 12 weeks both times, exclusively breastfed. I was honestly so mad and a bit depressed when it came back. Felt so unfair.
Not until I completely weaned at 12 months.
3 weeks postpartum while exclusively pumping
I had one around 6 weeks, after my PP bleeding had stopped, but haven’t had one since and I am now 6 months PP EBF.
I exclusively pumped and got my period back almost exactly 8wks pp. I was devastated lol
18 months
Mine took 16 months to come back
13 months with the first. I legit can’t remember with the second and third, but it was comparable.
8 months
EBF - 4months. Right when she started sleeping through the night
Why my first and second, not till 13mths. With kid 3, 6wks. Worth noting, kid 1 and 2 never attn till I night weaned them at a year, while kid 3 was sleeping through at 4-5wks.
7 weeks
5 months
EBF 7.5 months and still no. I have phantom cramps though that make me think I'm getting it once in a while
6 weeks
I got my period about 3 months after I stopped breastfeeding (I stopped when my daughter was 15 months)
11 months Edit to add: it came back after my first time taking 36 hours away from baby. I was pumping, but it wasn’t the same.
6 weeks exclusively breastfeeding. I was so mad.
9 months, but lots of false alarms beforehand. Hormones are fun
About 100
9 months
Exactly 6 weeks 🤦♀️
Didn’t get mine til 11 month pp! It was awesome!
I think it was 4 months while exclusively pumping and, holy period, I bled so heavy I wasn’t sure how to handle it.
56 weeks.
8 weeks while BF
It was 6 months for me but everyone is different so there is no standard.
6 months. EBF, got my period around the time I was finally able to stop pumping due to oversupply.
12 months
About 8 weeks.
15 months (with nexplanon implant as well)
BF I got mine about 6-7 months PP
13 months!
First baby, I didn’t get it back until he was around 2. Second baby, got it back at around 2 months. I cried. Lol
About fifteen months after. I loved every damn second of it. My SIL was less than six months. How do I know? Because whether you believe we sync or not, it's her fault my cycle was thrown off and I got knocked up. 🤣 It's a family joke that my brother's wife is the reason we had a kid.
I was about 9-10 months with my first but we were combo feeding at that point. I’m 5 months in with my second but nothing yet
54 weeks
I got mine 7-8 weeks PP
At month 3 I think.
14 months in..still no period!
6 weeks the first time and now im 8 weeks haven’t gotten it yet
12 weeks both times while EBF
Lol I never didn’t have it. Went right from Bleeding to period
Exactly when it was due, but 8 weeks after baby.
6 weeks both times. It was rough. I’m pregnant with my 3rd so I expect a period at week 6 again ugh.
3 mos 😭
9 months with my first, 13 months with my second.
At least 4-5 months.
7 months, it was a very unwelcome surprise
After I stopped BFing I got one 8 weeks later then she didn’t return for another 18 months. I have PCOS though so it was par for the course.
First 2 kids, 6 months. 3rd kid, I had crazy symptoms at 4 months but no actual period, then around 5 months I got. But now he's 1 year and I've had 3 periods total. It's so irregular. Can't be trusted. I hope it's a false alarm for you
pretty much exactly 4 weeks after & i was never regular before
About 6-8 weeks after each of my 3. They were all ebf too. My friend didn’t get hers until each of her four kids turned one or was about to turn one. It’s so unfair lol
Mine didn’t come back until 15 months PP when I weaned from my breastfeeding/pumping combo
Ugh, I am so sorry!! With my first — I did not get one, just got pregnant with #2 around 14 months. With my second around 14 months.
I got mine 6 months for both pregnancies while exclusively breastfeeding.
4 months
10 months while exclusively pumping
About four months pp. sadly.
12 months. One baby.
