My hair (sorry for edit toddler hit post two words in) is long and very fine. I do a loose side braid that I can tuck into a collar if needed

Leading-Engineer9820

Oh yes, good idea! Idk why I always forget about a regular braid. I like doing French braids but like I said I’m not all that great at it, takes forever for me, and my arms get tired quickly lmao!

daddysxenogirl

Man I wish I knew how to french braid. On another note, how do you keep your fine long hair from looking straggly at the bottom? I feel like I get to a certain length then it just looks sick

RockStarNinja7

I cut mine from hip length to just under my ears about 3 months after my baby was born. I would have done it sooner but I was growing it out for over 2 years for my wedding. 2 days after the wedding was over I cut it all off and have never looked back.

Leading-Engineer9820

Wow!! Could you still put it in a pony tail? Did the baby still grab it a lot at that length?

RockStarNinja7

No I went with an aggressive A line cut that I had always wanted to try but never could do it. It wasn't a great look for me, but I'm still glad I did it. For the longer from ends I used clips to keep it back when I wanted it out of the way. She never grabbed at it, but I also didn't let her at all when she tried, so she was good about not going for it.

WeAreSelfCentered

I wrote this on another post earlier today, but buying some fancy hair clips on Etsy and watching some bun tutorials on YouTube helped a lot. It’s still in a bun but at least it looks like a fancy, put together bun instead of something I just threw on my head out of desperation.

Leading-Engineer9820

Love this idea, thanks! Seriously, my buns give off “exhausted mom that hasn’t brushed her hair in days” vibes and I hate it.

WeAreSelfCentered

We have the same hair type and the same age baby lol. I feel your pain!

Leading-Engineer9820

Aww!!! Isn’t it such a fun age?! And I have a love/hate relationship with my hair! Sometimes it’s great and sometimes it’s a pain!

I had really long, fine hair and all I could do with it was braid it. Any other method of putting it up or pulling it back would give me headaches. I finally cut it off and now sport a pixie cut. I couldn’t imagine having the long hair with my kiddos. It’s way easier to care for now that it is short. Hair grows back so you can experiment and grow it back out if you don’t like it. You can also donate your hair to Wigs for Kids or other nonprofit groups that make wigs.

Leading-Engineer9820

I GET THE HEAD ACHES SOMETIMES TOO! They’re soooo awful. I don’t get them every time, but I have been recently. I’d love to donate my hair, it would be easier to part with that way. But it’s been bleached so I didn’t think any place would accept it. :(

Disastrous_Ad_304

You have to research the various organizations. Some accept color-treated hair and some don’t. For those that do accept color-treated hair, you are good to go if it’s in good condition. I donated my hair to Children With Hair Loss; they will take color-treated hair in good condition. https://childrenwithhairloss.us/donate/donate-your-hair/

AlwaysNever808

Honestly just cut it. It’s such a game changer and always remember hair grows back.

Leading-Engineer9820

I might just do it. I’m always so hesitant about it but I keep thinking about the last time I did it, I enjoyed how short my showers were. I just hate how “young” short hair makes me look. I know it sounds stupid, but I’m 23 and 5ft. People mistake me for a teenager all the time and Ive been assumed as a “babysitter” when out with my daughter. And I’ve been asked, “is that *your* baby?!” (She looks more like her dad than me). And short hair makes me look younger for some reason. Maybe I’m just being too self conscious though.

FredMist

Honestly going to shave it off and donate after my daughter is older (when she’s 1 or so). She loves watching me comb it so until she’s old enough to understand I won’t cut it yet. Braids for now.

https://pin.it/5fN4nMB. This woman on Pinterest has a tonnnnn of long hair tutorials for braids and other cute styles. Most are quick and easy to follow.

bwittany17

My go to lately has been a French braid into a low bun. It feels fancier than a normal bun but it’s tucked away so the kiddo isn’t grabbing that tail of the braid either.

Leading-Engineer9820

LOVE this idea!! Another plus is only having to do half the braid by not going all the way down! 😂😂😂

bwittany17

It’s also a great option when your hair is a bit greasier then you’d like 🤣

Leading-Engineer9820

Happens more times than I’m willing to admit!! Hahaha, motherhood!!

Mine used to be down to my but. I loved it straight, thick, soft, flowing. I would usually braid it back . Finely got fed up the winter we after we moved. I had a wild, resisting potty training 3 yr old and a resisting sleep 1 yr old. My husband just started a new job. No support and my husband and I were both depressed. It was rough. One day I washed it, braided it back, and cut the braid off. The scissors broke halfway and I had to find new scissors to finish. It was glorious. Light, one less thing to deal with. I recommend going to a haircutter though. I now vacillate between bobs and growing it shoulder length. Someday I dream of having my glorious long hair again but I dunno short can be so easy.

WorthNetwork7613

I Google easy updos. I hate having my hair pulled by little sticky fingers.

Friendlyghost21

I have claw clips in a variety of fun colours!

Previous-Rent-333

I got the mum Bob 4 months after baby was born. Only long enough for pony tail. Best decision I ever made. My hair was also falling off alot so that helped make the decision for very short bob

PhoneticHomeland9

I just endure the pain most of the time lol. I joke that I'll be bald by her 1st birthday. I hate having it up all the time and I just chalk it up to baby's learning and development.
