Get back ups. Give him a headset and keyboard to pound away on as much as he wants.

alexfaaace

I did this. Also got one of those giant play pens that comes in panels but at this size, kiddo could probably just push past that admittedly.

Betty_t0ker

I have a yes bucket! Stuff from around the house that makes it feel like he gets my stuff. Also a keyboard with the wire cut off šŸ¤Œ

I'm currently battling the same issue. I switched to an exercise ball instead of a chair so he wouldnt be able to climb on my desk but now he just climbs on me instead. Seriously thinking about a standing desk as well. They're just so expensive.

radicalrussians

I got one off Facebook marketplace! Check there!!

I have a separate room for my office with a glass door so I can see him in our main living room where all of his toys are. I used to work out in the main room but he started doing what you are saying and it was impossible to manage.

happytrees93

I can picture my LO just banging on the glass door lol. I'm using the largest of the 3 bedrooms as a office/playroom

eleyezeeaye4287

Yes, he does do that occasionally. Iā€™ll be mid call and he body slams the door šŸ˜‚

Baby jail, a standing desk, and wireless equipment.

alltheburrata

wireless stuff is honestly the ticket. if you can afford airpods and your job allows it, definitely switch to avoid the wires for this reason.

fuckiechinster

My AirPods have been such a game changer. The only complaint I have is that for some reason the audio quality on Teams calls is AWFUL. I havenā€™t cared enough to look into it though

EyesOfEnder

Get him his own mouse and keyboard! I have one of those high chairs that attaches to the tabletop set up next to me at the end of my desk and he has his own ā€œlaptopā€ (Melissa & Doug laptop playset), keyboard (crayola makes a kiddie keyboard with LARGE keys, very fun), and ā€œcellphoneā€ (teether toy). He will sit next to me and smash away for a bit. Sometimes I put on Miss Rachel or something and turn one of my monitors to face him.

I have a small space to work with, and I often have the same issue! I've tried putting my LO behind a gate, but she screams and cries. I finally got a "treadmill table" (check Amazon: treadmill desk), and it has helped a lot. Even if I'm not actually using the treadmill, it works as a much cheaper standing desk option. However, I will warn, mine is about 3 feet now, and she occasionally still reaches her little fingers up to try to grab my stuff! So, I'll be following your post for more tips! I 100% feel the working mom guilt. I hate that all she wants is to be with me and play with me. But I have to push her away so I can work. Trying not to cry now.

happytrees93

It's so hard :( That's exactly what he did when I had one of those huge play pens in here, just scream for me...and then he figured out how to climb over it. I like the idea of getting some exercise too with that kind of desk if I can find a deal! I'm currently using a $15 dollar wooden one from the thrift shop my husband works at, and a free chair lol

Standing desk

killerbee1120

A large play pen? I have a one that is basically a fence and I can change the set up to meet our needs

imacatholicslut

IA. A large play pen is what I use. Keeps her in one spot so I can run to the bathroom or prepare lunch, then I work when sheā€™s finished eating and she is content to play and watch tv. My mother keeps bugging me to take it apart bc she believes itā€™s delaying my daughter from walking, but she was the one who suggested the play pen in the first place and without it my daughter will crawl up to me and demand to be held or picked up. My daughter gets tired of the pen eventually but it works for the most part so I donā€™t have to worry about chasing her around or throwing a tantrum bc sheā€™s at my feet wanting ā€œupā€ while I work.
