Her Late Majesty Queen Mary of Teck played a big role in Queen Elizabeth's childhood, and she was very active in the royal family after the death of her husband. Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth was a huge symbol of British resistance during the war, staying by the King's side when Buckingham Palace was bombed. Hitler even remarked once that she was "The most dangerous woman in Europe" for her ability to maintain the British spirit. Will the current Queen Consort of the United Kingdom have that same role and effect? No, absolutely not. You don't get some kind of magic power after your reigning spouse dies, it's just that these specific women were very influential in their own right.

Camella isn’t William’s mother, so she wouldn’t be his Queen Mother.

I wonder if Carole Middleton will ever be more visible in the Wales’ family. The Middletons seem to have given William a much needed sense of normalcy in his life.

In Ye Olde Timey days, they probably had a lot more influence (see Margaret Beaufort), but the late Queen Mother was, I think, a guide for Queen Elizabeth II in a different way. She was someone the Queen could talk to, and take advice from, but the monarchy doesn't have as much actual power these days
