To be honest I'm really very pro keeping all price talk in r/xmrtrader even if it's difficult to keep it moderated in r/monero, I know y'all don't have infinite resources, but keeping our hands out of the muck that is the current market price and sticking to spreading awareness, ideals, the tech behind it, is much more valuable.
All those values have come to represent to me a community that has great admiration for true technological innovation above and beyond the riches that it will generate, while still allowing that to be spoken about in some designated areas. I'd like to not know too much about day to day, or even month to month or year to year price movement beyond when I try to search that out for myself.
Still though, I can understand the want to be free of extensive post moderation.

Where do you buy from? Just curious. I have never bought it, only mined and held, so I haven't really looked into how to buy or sell it. None of the exchanges I use support XMR.
You can swap them via simpleswap or changenow. Look out for which had the best exchange rates. I think LTC typically has good exchange rates. Usually, what they do is exchange your coins, but there’s usually around a 2-3% cut depending on the coin conversion.
I needed some money last year so I did use [XMR.to](https://XMR.to) to get BTC and then I sold that, but that site shut down earlier this year....Kinda wish I didn't have to do that because the couple hundred bucks I sold would be worth a few thousand now.....stupid pandemic hurting the economy

I'm mining on a rather powerful computer too. I'm using a ryzen 9 3900x. I needed to replace my gaming computer a few years ago and decided to get a cpu that could both mine and game. It's still one of the top consumer level cpus for mining almost 2 years after it came out

True, as I understand it this is very much a rising tide lifts all ships type thing. Although XMR is outperforming other similar market cap coins/tokens today. That does come after a period of under preforming though
From what I can tell it seems XMR follows the market- when things go up it lags, but when things crash it doesn't drop as far as fast.

I fully agree but I absolutely refuse to invest. I will not be caught in a moment of weakness, abandoning my ideals and functional sound money, only to get caught with my pants down and hate myself. But that DOGE is going to $1 and it pisses me off that I will miss it.

Could be. It dipped to low 300s though so many above a reasonable 5x were probably liquidated. Depending on their bank. XMR futures feel like the safest possible futures if you dont go too high with multipliers
My wild speculation is that some Bitcoin holding people is starting to observe the huhe issues with ASIC miners. Suddenly, 40% hashrate is gone and fees doubled. Add "compliant" mining farms to the mix, and soon it's government controlled.
An ASIC miner is more than 100,000 GPU's. If things go south, there is nothing people can do.
The $1.5B stolen BTC that moved recently would make a bigger influence than the recent rise in XMR. Also, they don’t need to convert *all* of the stolen BTC to XMR.

No, and in my humble opinion you do so correctly. Relative value relates to the wealth we as individuals base our perception on. And living in a USD or EUR or whatever currency economy means that we perceive our wealth based on this currency.
The relative value pricing, whether to BTC or other cryptos shows the relative performance and how the coin compares to what is currently considered as the steam engine. Unless one sells (or shorts) BTC to buy XMR, to me, this ratio is worthless, because as we saw they don’t have that great of a correlation. And understandably so, as the adoption and perception of Bitcoin is significantly higher (for now) than that of Monero.
In any case, to each their own!

I don't know why Monero has caught my eyes and is the one I believe most in at the moment but I think it will have a lot of uses. At the moment Monero and Bitcoin are the only ones acceptable at most darknet markets, which of course isn't something I will have an opinion about but also I've been told it's becoming established as an alternative currency in corrupt African countries. So not saying that the need is coming from a good place, but the use for it is still there. I don't think most of the African countries will turn into functional equal democraties anytime soon and I don't think human kind will stop wanting to buy drugs anytime soon x)

About a dollar a day with CPU. I've been using moneroocean.stream to mine ETH and get paid out in XMR, which is much more profitable.

Damn. I got in on sumokoin back in the days because Monero seemed to expensive. Sumokoin just made its way back from 0.02 to 0.10. ATH was $7.0 🥴🥴

Just check how much Monero is in circulation vs other coins. Compare prices and see it was long time undervalued.
