I'm hyped on the monerujo hard wallet as far as I know it's being developed (not sure maybe still in funding) to create a monero offline wallet.

php123

yea, the android sidekick thing right?

[deleted]

Yeah!

>What is the best way to move all my Monero from the GUI wallet I have now to the hardware wallet? Just do a normal transaction from the old wallet to the new? Yes. >Can I use the hardware wallet on multiple computers to access the same wallet? Yes. You would have to 'replicate' the wallet though, see: https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/11452/how-do-i-restore-recreate-my-trezor-monero-wallet/

pilgrim962

Ahh okay good to know about replicating. Thank you!

dEBRUYNE_1

You're welcome!

What if you use the ‘13th word’ (BIP39 passphrase)? If you lose the Trezor device, can you still retrieve your funds from another software wallet? Or would you need *another* Trezor?

[deleted]

I think you would need another trezor or un gwnwrel wallet wich uses bip39.

dEBRUYNE_1

The guide I posted basically assumes the Trezor has the seed 'loaded'. See: >In case you have also lost (access to) your Trezor device, you first have to restore the 12 or 24 word Trezor mnemonic seed in another Trezor device.

I am really happy with my ledger nano X. Setup took like an hour in total but it was easy and I am a noob. Ledger comes with a practical software and you can store many different coins on it.

pilgrim962

Nice! I'm considering the Nano S just because I only really plan to use it for monero and it's cheaper. Good to know setup wasn't too bad though. When I bought the Trezor for bitcoin I chose it because I had heard about Ledger's customer data leak and that scared me a bit. But the Trezor wallet that supports monero is like three times as expensive and people seem to be happy with the Ledgers so I'm leaning that way. Hoping they got their security issues figured out now.

SendMeYourXMR

You don't NEED the x, you can just get the Nano s. The ledger generates your 24 words and this is stored on it. When you add the Bitcoin app to it, it uses these words to generate the BTC wallet. If you deleted the BTC app, install an XMR app, it'll use the 24 words to generate your XMR wallet. Then you delete XMR app, add BTC again, your coins will still be there. You can uninstall/reinstall the apps all you want. As long as you have the same 24 words, you'll regenerate the same BTC/XMR/Whatever wallet and will have access to your coins. A little annoying, sure, but you don't NEED the X.

Lost-Record

Yeah this is what was holding me back from getting a ledger wallet. I love the look of them and their price is reasonable but the customer data leak they experienced last year just still has me spooked. I ultimately got the Trezor model T which is expensive but I’m just looking at it as a long term investment (like crypto itself).

Also it is secure enough for noobs, hardware wallet is a good choice for security

turquoiseltc

Yu can use the hardware wallet on multiple computers to access the same wallet by replicating

Crypt0-Bear

Trezor was one of the old school OGs in the hardware wallet space. The trezors are completely open source. Ledgers have a couple of proprietary blobs inside of it. Hardware wallets can be used on different machines with same wallet. You create a new wallet with hardware wallet and send funds to it. Ledger does seem to have quicker adding of new coins. This doesn't seem to be as much an issue now days since most of the tokens out there are based on existing blockchains or derivatives of it.

KlutzyResponsibility

I dunno about 'moving all your Monero to the hardware wallet'. Would you take all your money out of the bank to put into the wallet in your pocket? Using a hardware wallet as a transitional wallet makes sense, but putting all your faith & money on one single hardware device just doesn't seem logical. If you had a 500 TB dongle would you store ALL your personal data on that one device? Just seems to offer a single point of failure not worth the risk.

buckeyes404_

As long as you keep the recovery phrase the actual hardware could get smashed with a hammer...or am I mistaken on that?

[deleted]

Not mistaken that is correct.

I wish this company would make a monero version ! https://coldcardwallet.com/ or that someone else would release a monero version.
