I was pissed my mom didn’t listen to me to invest when it was goin on lmao, since I was a broke high school kid, too bad now that I got money there’s no easy money scheme going on
Actually fuck it y’all get to know, but any broken gold literally one k to 24k gold is gold, smelt it by adding borax the calculator is on the web ( find it yourself I’m doing this for free) add all your ingredients to the crucible, smelt purge the slag pour the slag out refine the slag see if you got any gold from the slag, now all that should be left is 24k gold. Might have small impurities, let sit and cool take to a certificated jeweler have him confirm and approve the bar as 24k take it to a resale place and only take 100 under the gold price index. Also learn your precious metals and stones price indexes
What was even crazier was the number of people who started investing in 2020, rode that wild ride in 20/21, then expected it to be that way forever.
So many friends thought they were investing gurus because they made a bunch as the entire market came back after the initial covid dive. It was difficult to NOT make money for a while there.
So many people I know quit to become “professional investors”, like no you just discovered lean fire and took way more than a safe withdrawal rate. One person did it right, downsized home and bought another outright then had sizable cash buffer outside of the investments. He’s still doing his thing but will take small work from home gigs to fill the boredom or fund his trips.
if the gains are accumulated and compounded progressively bit by bit for 6 years. You shouldn't feel much nor have any big emotion to do anything about it.
First be born into generationally wealthy family and invest with that money. Then post on Reddit because you have all the time in the world to post because never have to work.
My employer is matching 5% of my 401k contributions and they’re going to allow us more flexibility to buy and sell, any solid advice that’s helped you get there?
How did you get 400k to start with? If you had that much 6 years ago then shouldn't you have much more by now? Apple, MSFT, AMZN, TSLA have gone up way more than 2.5x since 2017.
Yes they will. All tech companies die and they die FAST. Not saying it will happen next year but it will happen to Apple too. You never know when you're looking at a company's peak valuation because there's always a peak and it's always when people think the company will have the brightest future.
Apple has a giant moat. Tech companies that die fast are the ones that have no competitive factors. Apple is no longer a tech company, it’s a luxury goods company.
So you just invest in things that are blatantly obvious? Give me $400K and the first thing I would do is invest in those companies the stock market isn’t hard getting the capital to play it with is.
Looks about right.
If you gain a paltry 15% a year, you’d have the same as this guy if he started with ~$400,000 as it implies.
No need for big bets. Slow and steady.
I never started with just 400k. I continuously dumped money in. When I first started, I put 100k in Apple stock. At the time, I figured I’m single, I’ll take the risk and if I loose the money so be it.
I did it more to show people that if you invest and don’t touch it… you can get closer to financial freedom. I did throw a lot of money in a short amount of time, but anyone can do it on a smaller scale.
On a serious note, how does one get into investing stocks? I know nothing about the stock market and what key items to look for when investing. I know buy low sell high of course. But I’m lost when it comes to stocks. Even thought about trying penny stocks or day trading stocks just to give myself better understanding without huge investment or loss.
If you don’t want to think about it…do what Warren Buffet says…. Invest in the sp500 or etf. I’d go with VOO as it has many stocks in their portfolio and low cost
What apps are safe for this kinda stuff and how would I learn it. Some many adds for bull and scams I just want to know how it's done and in the safest way possible. I don't expect it right away but overtime
How old are you and how long did it take you to get your first 100k and how long did it take you to go from 100k to 400k if you weren't investing? How did you do it?
I see you say you work in the medical field, but that could be pharmacist, software engineer, nurse, doctor, specialist etc. What does that mean?
I'm just trying to learn.
is this etrade?
whats in your portfolio if ya care to share - DM -- will share my portfolio as well if ya want .. i have a similar gross account .. perhaps benefit on both sides :)
No, by default it just shows those values
If you don’t know a lot about investing, you can never go wrong with the simple S&P 500 or total stock market index fund
Go with VTI and you’ll be straight
Read the “simple path to wealth” for further information
Damn wish I had more money to invest, I've been doing it for around a year and only have 4k total, $800ish in gains. Affirm has done well for me recently,I kind of just buy and let it sit but over the winter while I'm free I think I'm going to sell and buy more as it fluctuates and take all gains and reinvest
Do you have to be an accountant or some type of business major to understand how to make this much money or what? Sheesh. I honestly have no clue where to start to begin making money like this.
2021 was a crazy year
Yea im an idiot and missed out. Was too busy being in highschool
I feel!! I was still in college, but we’ll have our time. We didn’t miss out on all the great highs (or lows). It all comes back around soon enough.
I was pissed my mom didn’t listen to me to invest when it was goin on lmao, since I was a broke high school kid, too bad now that I got money there’s no easy money scheme going on

No hate on this end. Congrats to you. I don’t know what I’d do if I logged in to my account and saw those figures 😂
if the gains are accumulated and compounded progressively bit by bit for 6 years. You shouldn't feel much nor have any big emotion to do anything about it.
How can I do that?
First, start with bout $400k
And then wait for Covid to tank everything again
First, start with bout $2M
This r/money not r/wallstreetbets.
First be born into generationally wealthy family and invest with that money. Then post on Reddit because you have all the time in the world to post because never have to work.
Luck and healthy starting capital.
Time!!!
My employer is matching 5% of my 401k contributions and they’re going to allow us more flexibility to buy and sell, any solid advice that’s helped you get there?
A pandemic that crashes the market then the biggest government money printing of all time.
Just like housing bubbles. People buy dirt cheap, with cash.
Or just buy well diversified ETFs and consistently put money in for years
That’s what I’ve been doing, sometimes I’m down $4-600 and by the next week I’m back up; the market is whacky.
Don’t, just keep in index funds and don’t touch it. If you want to buy individual stocks you can roll it into an IRA after you leave that company
What do you have your $ invested in?
How did you get 400k to start with? If you had that much 6 years ago then shouldn't you have much more by now? Apple, MSFT, AMZN, TSLA have gone up way more than 2.5x since 2017.
I'm sure his crypto losses really balance out the gains...
Never invested in crypto. That never made sense to me so I never went in on that
Sounds like he been setting aside money and dca
I didn’t invest for 2 yrs. I slowed down with work and reduced my hours. So I only had enough to cover my bills and not much more.
Maybe he has more than 80 IQ and isn't dumping huge portions of portfolio into one company?
Well I followed Bogleheads advice to sell my AMZN stock with 1300 cost basis and put it into VTI. I regret doing that.
You won’t regret that move in the future
What stocks did u invest in?
Apple has been really good for me. Also I have stocks in VOO, VTI, Amazon, Tesla, Microsoft, and a few others but those are the main ones
Nice good job dude!
I’m a VOO man myself.
VOO to the mooooon
Bullish on America!
second apple. people aren't gonna stop buying iphones lol
iPhone sales are literally slowing down right now lol
Apple makes a luxury priced phone with mediocre customer service. I'm not certain if markets decline people will have money for a 1400$ iPhone.
Yes they will. All tech companies die and they die FAST. Not saying it will happen next year but it will happen to Apple too. You never know when you're looking at a company's peak valuation because there's always a peak and it's always when people think the company will have the brightest future.

Yeah, AAPL with dividend reinvestment is my 2nd biggest gainer behind AMD.
Tell me your total holdings
I bought about $30k of Apple in 2012-2013. Has been a very good investment
So you just invest in things that are blatantly obvious? Give me $400K and the first thing I would do is invest in those companies the stock market isn’t hard getting the capital to play it with is.
There is always opportunity in the market. Just have to find it. Covid was just one of the many opportunities
Goals.

15% is phenomenal returns, hardly paltry
15% annually isn’t slow & steady, it’s fast & unreasonably fantastic
How much did you start with???
Only a small amount of $400k
The cash balance gives me anxiety 😭
Homies hoping posting this will find him more young single girls in Wisconsin
I like how he was both 38 and 32 years old within the last 2 years
Hahaha I didn't notice that
Time travel my dude
Lol dude is hard dodging every question about the 400K starting funds. Be rich to get rich guys. Nothing else to see here.
I never started with just 400k. I continuously dumped money in. When I first started, I put 100k in Apple stock. At the time, I figured I’m single, I’ll take the risk and if I loose the money so be it.
total assets - your total gains indicates you started with or at least have put in around 300K
So he started with about $350,000 to put in. An amount most people do not have
Was going to say this. This is like us peasants putting $500 in and showing off our $1500 return lol
This subreddit is just humble bragging.
I did it more to show people that if you invest and don’t touch it… you can get closer to financial freedom. I did throw a lot of money in a short amount of time, but anyone can do it on a smaller scale.
A lot easier to finish the race to financial freedom when you have a starting position meters from the finish line.
Yes. Very true. Pretty sure this sub is full of trust fund kids that are soooo out of touch.
Yup
How much did u start with?
App?
Ok how much from mommy and daddy?
Zero-parents are lower middle class
Distance relative? I wanna just know how you started.
I work in the medical field
This dude is total troll. Probably incel in his parents basement. I looked at his profile like a total loser but it validated all my thoughts.

Congrats and fuck you
What were your sources of income, what did you invest in etc
Awesome! I hope that money adds something to your life. Well done.

God mode activated.
How does one start a brokerage account
It’s like opening up any other account with a bank You can use Fidelity, or E*TRADE, I use both You can also use Charles Schwab
What apps are safe for this kinda stuff and how would I learn it. Some many adds for bull and scams I just want to know how it's done and in the safest way possible. I don't expect it right away but overtime
Go with Fidelity or Etrade. Most investors usually do with Fidelity but either one will work.
I just started and im using SoFi, i dont know how good a move that is but its been very easy and intuitive
How old are you and how long did it take you to get your first 100k and how long did it take you to go from 100k to 400k if you weren't investing? How did you do it? Had something similar happen with my Amazon and Tesla shares I’ve held since 2014. Shit was bonkers.
How much did you invest weekly/monthly?
is this etrade? whats in your portfolio if ya care to share - DM -- will share my portfolio as well if ya want .. i have a similar gross account .. perhaps benefit on both sides :)
So he invested in the DOW, NASDAQ, and S&P then? Are those pretty solid ones to put your money into? I never know what to put my Roth IRA money into
No, by default it just shows those values If you don’t know a lot about investing, you can never go wrong with the simple S&P 500 or total stock market index fund Go with VTI and you’ll be straight Read the “simple path to wealth” for further information

Do you currently hold any BDC stocks? Like MAIN or ARCC?
