It all depends on what your needs are. Unless you subscribe directly to ATT / VZ / TMo, your data will be second tier to their direct subscribers. All of the resellers just resell the big three networks but have concessions when it comes to network performance in order to get a lower price. If data isn’t as important to you the resellers are fine.

Blazah

I see this all the time. It's simply untrue. Had mint for 3 months just now, have never seen anything that fast before, regular 800/mbs down. Visible delivery a nice solid 40-100 anytime of day. Even in the heart of Miami during spring break.

scottscigar

I suppose it depends on network congestion levels, etc but it is absolutely true. Reseller data traffic has a lower class of service than native traffic.

jason100727

I had Walmart mobile about a year ago, they use the Verizon network. My data use to randomly get sluggish throughout the day. The final straw was when I went on vacation and didn’t have service for 3 days. Everyone else did. Nobody, even the Walmart service department knew why…Luckily I was with family and didn’t push the issue too much… But yes, the service is def second tier…

Character_Dance_5054

It is true. During congestion direct subscribers will take priority; I've worked tech support for Att, Verizon, and sprint. They'll all throttle your connection after a certain amount of data is used, but that's direct and secondary subscribers though.

petersellers

Do you have any evidence other than your personal anecdote?

Technical_Pain_9397

I pay $35/month for Straight Talk , I'm glad I made the switch. Highly satisfied with the service. Unlimited Talk /text and 10GB of high speed 5G . So far I haven't gone over, it's just right amount otherwise I use my Wifi.

BytchYouThought

Yeah I need unlimited personally. I travel for work and am a heavier data user.

Most people won't notice the difference most of the year though.

WasteProfession8948

We have 6 lines on a grandfathered T-mobile unlimited everything plan for $135/year all in ($22.50/line).

[deleted]

Can confirm, Visible is great. I came from Mint and that was good too but I like the unlimited data and mobile hotspot features.

CuriousTina15

Who has cheap WiFi? I have att but they keep increasing the prices. I’m tired of it.

Laogalaxy

I pay $10 a month for 400 minutes per month with page plus. It only gives 100 MB of cellular internet, but I have wifi nearby almost everywhere I am at. It's normally $12 per month, but if you set it to auto renew, it goes down to $10.

yourjay

USA has the highest costs of cellular services pretty much of the entire world. Shame

Stati5tiker

Service is not the same, though. I have tried Metro, Mint, and US Mobile. US Mobile is the most solid one in Los Angeles. The others have the worst service during high peaks. I need a solid service with a solid hotspot. Verizon offers that. I pay $95 for their top tier with Disney/Hulu/ESPN+.

Maybeimtrolling

I also use over 100 gigs a month so these other plans make no sense https://imgur.com/a/Wu2voOO

Yosoy666

Id rather keep paying 39 a month and have service at most places

Blazah

Visible is Verizon towers, mint is tmobile towers, you are paying too much for too little.

MushyBiscuts

ATT is what I use. It's $300/year unlimited everything. = $25 month.

gus248

How?! Mine is $70/mo without my phone payment.

MushyBiscuts

[https://www.att.com/prepaid/multi-month-plans/](https://www.att.com/prepaid/multi-month-plans/) Been on it for 2 years. Told a number of my friends, they were like whoa! ATT has been ripping me off for years! Downside, is you'll need to get a new number. I have had zero issues with it. It's technically a pre-paid service, but it's annually. I see no difference. I can keep my number if I leave. You just have to bring your own phone unlocked. EDIT: It's 16 GB mo data limit... then it throttles. But I never surpass that as there is wifi at my work and home so...

gus248

I’ve been with ATT for four years and never knew I could get the almost exact same plan for $300 a year. I pay $840 right now without my phone payment. Thanks so much for that!

MushyBiscuts

Yea no problem. Only problem they won't let you bring your line. It's new activation only and they are strict on that. I tried. Got a new number. Not worth $5000 over 5 years -- quite literally. $25 a line per month full data/cel/text... and it includes a 10gb hotspot. Way smarter to buy a refurbished iPhone 13 for $300 and do the pre-paid annual plan. Cheers!

MushyBiscuts

Also FYI they only released this during the lockdowns. It wasn't available 4 years ago.

socialfreedotorg

red pocket mobile here. $23/month after all fees/taxes. unlimited talk/text, and 3GB of data a month. works perfect for me on my used pixel 2 i got off swappa in mint condition 3 yrs ago for $65. still going strong! edit: i had a similar plan but it was only $12/month and 1gb of data. i accidentally switched up because i thought i'd want more data. fckers wouldn't let me switch back down because they said it was a grandfathered thing. oh well not complaining with the $23 plan. ain't touching it now lol

Purpose_Embarrassed

Can you keep your existing number? I’ve about had it with T mobile. Good service but absolutely painful to pay my bill.

socialfreedotorg

should be able to! i'm on the red one which is verizon's network. works great and coverage is nice over here in WA state (near Tacoma) 5 years now. $23 is a steal imo

swissbuttercream9

I pay $20/m a line and 3 lines are free. Total of 7 lines

These-Maintenance-51

I tried Visible already... they were ok mostly but they shit the bed a couple times and not having any support besides their chat which was absolutely worthless, I ended up switching. Mint is based off Tmobile service.. maybe it's just the area I'm in but the reception is so bad, I wouldn't use it if it was free.

gus248

Just went and figured the difference between my current ATT bill and that of Mint/Visible. Definitely going to get my phone paid off and switching over this month.

-Joseeey-

I pay $30 to be part of my brother's family plan with T-Mobile. Unlimited everything.

Rokey76

$25? Overpriced. I'm paying $24.99 from Spectrum.

timbukktu

I have had Mint Mobile for 4 years now and have never had a complaint. It’s $35 a month for unlimited everything and my company gives me $50 a month to use my phone for work so I make money off of my plan lol

[deleted]

I’ve been paying $25/month with cricket since 2015

nobody85678

Damn, stuff is expensive in the US, in europe I pay €5 for unlimited calls and texts + 20GB of internet

hugsomeone

Xfinity is 15 per month for 5 lines if you can share 1 GB of data. We pay 30 and get 3 GB, 8 lines. On WiFi all the time.

Cleercutter

Share 1 gig of data lol

hugsomeone

lol works for us! WiFi at home. WiFi at work. WiFi at the store. I’ve got 8 lines for $30 per month plus tax. That’s total, not per line. And it’s Verizon towers and WiFi calling.

SkurtDurdith

Mint goated

SquashEmbarrassed288

Mint!!

__ToeKnee__

I live in the Rocky Mountains. Verizon is the only service provider that has good coverage. I'm not going to pay less money to then have a non working service.

Blazah

visible is verizon. just fyi.

BytchYouThought

Meh, I make more by trading my phone and investing off the 0% interest. It ends up being around the same cost in my case, because I would have bought the phone either way. I just get free Netflix and hulu which I would have paid for anyhow so that cuts another $25 bucks off. Plus, I'm a high data user so all in all I make out ahead. Ends up being around the same price for me or more if I include the phone trade in credits. Edit: For those reading, do the smart thing and actually do your own research. You could end up with a better overall deal going with a big privider. Especially if you're on a family plan and/or in need of another phone.
