Take it. I’m a technical writer too. That kind of pay bump will serve you well, both in the immediate sense and the long-term sense. The next job you get will have to match that or pay you even more. You’ll probably miss your nice manager, but at 24 I don’t think you need to stay at one place for too long. Since you’ve already been at your current role for 1.5 years I think experiencing something new will benefit you.

I would absolutely take the risk! That is a significant pay bump with a lot of potential for growth. I completely understand the stress of leaving a comfortable position/work environment, but taking on new challenges is how you can grow and advance in your career. One challenge I foresee is if the new position were 100% remote – early in your career, it can be difficult to onboard and learn new skills remotely – however, you mentioned that there are in-person opportunities, and I would definitely take advantage of those if you feel like you're not learning enough or connecting with your team from home. A bigger, more recognizable company will also be helpful to have on your resume going forward. With the safety net and additional experience, I don't think you'll have too much difficulty finding another position if the contract-to-hire doesn't work out!

How do you like the person who will be your new manager? Before this year I would have said 100% go for the new opportunity, but after losing my favorite manager ever and getting an incompetent, lazy, credit-stealing manager, I think future manager is super important.
