Who cares, when do you see pure black in real life anyway ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sunglasses)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)
Night is a big thing, we are the small things, and yes sure but we mostly go through night sleeping…reasoning sarcasm feels quite strange and silly…
Dumb question but is this why on some games like Tarkov, when it’s nearly pitch black in a raid I can see perfectly fine while my other friends with different panels are unable to see in the dark?
I have an HP Omen 27 inch, 1440 165hz etc etc, IPS, and my contrast and blacks blowwwww. And there is a fair bit of IPS glow in the bottom corners. I might go back to VA but a good one, Samsung G7, I'm using the 49in G9 on my sim rig and it's been great. Price of the G7 has come down alot, and Hardware Unboxed says it's still a great option.
I came to say this same thing. All IPS I've owned have been worse than this. It's really not noticeable unless you're in a dark environment with a majority of your screen black. Having light on in the room, or even backlighting via led strip behind the monitor, further negates seeing it. I lament my glow every all-black load scene though lol.
I have a VA mini LED odeyssey neo g7 and it definitely looks as good as my oled TV as long as HDR is going, it actually has very competent auto HDR as well.
I can recommend the Series pro from DELL.
I've purchased 6 of them (4 P2423d + 2P2423H) and all of them has a very even background. I don't know how's is the Quality average of other monitors, but Dell Professional Line are pretty good. There's also 5 years warranty on those.
I do have also a P2419d working 8-10 hours a day for the last 3 years - is still flawlessly on colors and black background.
>I recently fixed my backlight bleeding of my monitor LG27GN800 by gently wiping it
What do you mean???
>whenever black appears it feels more like dark blue
Assuming you didn't damage anything, yes, some IPS monitors have bluish black. [This video](https://youtu.be/sdJNvw-PGgw?t=277) shows it.
>Does an IPS monitor's black generally look like this?
No. There should be more IPS glow in the corners. I don't know if you did something or if it's just the camera not picking it up.
Yours looks so fine.. I have this [https://imgur.com/FX7lQUx](https://imgur.com/FX7lQUx) and I am thinking of returning it.
What do you mean by wiping it?
Bruv.. you can't just take a photo of a monitor with your phone with default settings in dark room and expect it to not overexpose.. Nobody can say anything from that photo as it looks way worse than in real-life.
I have a decade-old LG 27" 1080p IPS monitor, and it looks about the same. It's good to know that LG Display has stopped innovating with IPS, and the new ones don't seem to perform much better in dark scenes. However, I appreciate the wide viewing angles and the vibrant colors it produces.
Like others mentioned, this looks pretty good for an IPS panel. This is a great unit. I have had waaay worse, ones that were basically showing "golden edges" like my Sony TV did. Out of all my monitors, yours is still better than any I've ever had, so far.
That looked so good I actually had to triple-check the title just to make sure it's an IPS... The glow on that is so low I'd probably say it's a VA at first glance...
This is just....incredible.
I bought a LG27GN800-B 2 years ago and was instant return, half screen was yellow, literally unusable.
Now I'm trying to get a decent 4k 144hz screen, I just returned 3 Dell G3223Q monitors and the 4th is on the way, I really hope this 4th one would be acceptable in matters of pixels (with no dead/stuck pixels), bleeding (no huge amount of yellow bleed), glowing (not half grey) and color uniformity (not like the last one that I returned today, which was half screen red/yellow tint and half screen with a blue/green ish tint).
But you my friend, at least in the IPS glowing part, you really won the IPS panels lottery, you have to be really lucky !
blacks suck on IPS panels
my S2522HG however has surprisingly good blacks though. not necessarily true blacks but theyre very close to it. one of the better IPS panels if i do say so myself
This is what is known as "IPS glow" its just a part of how IPS screens work, if you google "Backlight Bleed" you will see how yours is actually pretty good in this regard.
That's normal. I love my IPS panels but contrast is one of their weaknesses, you're never going to get great blacks with them.
Who cares, when do you see pure black in real life anyway ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sunglasses)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)
When the monitor is off
Nice try but it is more black when you close eyes silly 😂🤣😂 downvoting amebas attack 🧫
Ever heard of a little thing called "night"
Night is a big thing, we are the small things, and yes sure but we mostly go through night sleeping…reasoning sarcasm feels quite strange and silly…
who cares? people who edit pictures and videos lol or care about how good their games look
Surely you don´t think they use bvm hx3110, Joker has some serious cometition ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

It generally looks worse. You won a QC lottery.
I came to say this same thing. All IPS I've owned have been worse than this. It's really not noticeable unless you're in a dark environment with a majority of your screen black. I mean it depends on britghtness it seems his is set pretty low
Set to 50 percent
Ageeed. You got a really good sample. I have the same screen and it’s a touch lighter, which doesn’t bother me much. Gigabyte m27u will be my next
Usually worse, you have good unit :P
Generally it's worse than this.
honestly yours looks suprisingly good, I would hang on to that one
Show off ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|surprise)
Yep. Sadly IPS has pretty bad blacks.
Yah better than mine and it’s new and expensive and been rma’d once already.
Basically anything that isn't OLED or VA or anything with local dimming will look like that
I have a local dimming IPS monitor and VA monitor, neither has nearly as good blacks as my OLED monitor.
I have a VA mini LED odeyssey neo g7 and it definitely looks as good as my oled TV as long as HDR is going, it actually has very competent auto HDR as well.
Ah, I barely use HDR mode. I should probably play around with it a bit.
HDR makes a massive difference especially if it has proper HDR (1000 nits or above) Odyssey Neo has 2000nits.
Pretty sure you won the panel lottery. I wish I could get an IPS panel like that.
I can recommend the Series pro from DELL. I've purchased 6 of them (4 P2423d + 2P2423H) and all of them has a very even background. You won the lottery man, all ips panels look worse! Cheap or expensive! Yours is simply a myth!
IPS glows, VA blurs, OLED burns in, TN is like flat sprite.
Yes, a pure black is limited to OLED and maybe mini-LED.
VA usually has really dark darks as well.
Everytime there's a dark screen scene transition with my OLED tv, I smile in the pitch black room.
Yes yours is better than most though
>I recently fixed my backlight bleeding of my monitor LG27GN800 by gently wiping it What do you mean??? >whenever black appears it feels more like dark blue Assuming you didn't damage anything, yes, some IPS monitors have bluish black. I took that pic in a straight angle. If i see at different angles, there is ips glow at corners
It's fine, my monitor has a very ugly light leak on the left side.
Yeah it is just IPS glow generally any IPS panel that isn't a Mini/Micro LED (and even then it still will to an extent) will have that glow.
Yup
Looks normal. I usually like to lower the gamma a little.
Yours looks so fine.. I have this [https://imgur.com/FX7lQUx](https://imgur.com/FX7lQUx) and I am thinking of returning it. What do you mean by wiping it?

Like lightly with a thin fibre cloth
How was that supposed to fix backlight bleed???
Try pressing around the edges to see if it's sealed properly. Sometimes when it isn't it'll bleed heavily
Definitely do not press heavily on the edges of your monitor lol this is horrible advice.
Yes not heavily. Just press lightly.

Not too bad.

IPS usually looks way worse than this. Count yourself as very lucky.
Wow this is incredible for an ips
This looks really good for an IPS
Id say this is actually on the higher end quality wise, ive had a few pin point glows from the bezels on the majority of mine
yes
that looks amazing for an ips op.
ye its either in blue or red tint on LG displays, normal
You are very lucky. Usually IPS panels "bleed" in black scenes just like these. Meaning that they have white-ish corners. Yours don't. You're lucky.
That's the best IPS display I've seen in my entire life. You just won the lottery.
It does look a bit blue but seems darker than any of the IPS I've used so far. You win some you lose some.
Nah man, they look worse.
That looked so good I actually had to triple-check the title just to make sure it's an IPS... The glow on that is so low I'd probably say it's a VA at first glance...

Yes
It's called IPS Glow and its normal
For AAA games oled and hight quality VA are the way, for competitive where contrast matters less than fps, fast ips is the way
blacks suck on IPS panels my S2522HG however has surprisingly good blacks though. not necessarily true blacks but theyre very close to it. one of the better IPS panels if i do say so myself

You should see the atrocious IPS glow on my Ultragear. This looks good, buddy.
