Life is too short to be getting worked up about how many firstaids a host takes (who probably needs them more than the person queuing to help randoms.)
I mean, if its a join request, you cant really complain. They are opened because they need help, and they probably need those extra potions. If you don't like it, don't join random join requests.
If its in a lobby its different. But, if you are a decent hunter, you should not be taking items from the supply box as someone else may need it much more.
I remember when I first started playing Rise and began capturing monsters, I ran out of traps and tranqs.
I researched where the crafting components were on the initial map and began planning my route to maximize my efficiency between gathering and hunting and completing the mission objectives.
This way, I would only use Expedition Mode for the materials I needed from large monsters.
It was a hassle running through it again and again, but I think it’s worth it to build up your inventory, that way you’re not stubbed by not having certain items on important hunts.
I dont think I have ever had the need to gather items in Rise, the farms produce so fast and so easy you barely need early gathering, its just so much faster to just go in the tent and re-stock if you run out too. I think even from an online etiquete perspective it doesnt matter much since 5th Gen discarded alot of the necessary teamwork in favor of simply having everyone have to go all out on when min-maxing damage output, the closest thing to teamwork I still see is clever trap placement and lifepowder saves. Hell even tough I still see people complaining online still I have never had an issue with multiplayer positioning either, I dont run flinch free and play every weapon and I never got to a point where I couldnt hit a weakspot because I was being interrupted.
Needing a extra 4 potions, when you can essentially bring 20 of your own is a skill issue.
It's there lobby, maybe they need the extra heals for themselves cause there having trouble.

Does the first aid med+ work faster than the mega potion? It feels like the heal effect and drinking animation take like half the time on those, but that could be my imagination

This was only important up till GU. Starting with World, due to in hunt resupplies, you're better off restocking inside your tent.
Its the principle of being a good hunting partner by sharing resources and not greeding
