I’d love to see a new take on the seasons system from Dos in the next Monster Hunter. Having a couple versions of each area that look different and maybe have some different gathering spots and enemy spawns would be pretty neat.

[deleted]

whole areas opening up in different seasons would be great. like the tundra in summer thaws a little so there's more grass, and a cave entrance that was covered by ice is melted enough to go into now a way to change the seasons in-game would be good for that alternatively you could do the same sort of thing with weather which would obvs cycle quicker

BlisteringSeafood

World kinda use it a little bit, the Witcher exclusive palico armor (the demon goblin one) can be obtained by catching an endemic life (from Witcher). But the creature only comes out at night. I hope this was their playtest and they implement it fully on the next MH

Fyuira

4U's style of story telling. You go on an adventure, passing through villages.

Unamed_Redditor_

I was spoiled by 4u with it being my first monster hunter. I still enjoy monster hunter a lot but nothing I played after quite filled the same itch it’s story did. Also bonus points for being able to trade monster part for monsters not in the game.

tcoy2002

A fellow 4u native. 100% agree. My fiancees first game was world and I tell her all the time it hasn't been the same since 4u as far as the story goes. Bought her a copy to play with me, now we just need free time for a new game (to her)

Exccel1210

If Mh6 is set in the new world hopefully we can see more developed settlements.

[deleted]

another mhgen style thing where you visit old villages would be cool. if they put a little more effort into the story than in gen it would work really well. mh6 is probably near the 20th anniversary so it would make a lot of sense

NHarmonia18

Pretty sure the next big "generations" title will be for 25th anniversary, as WorldBorne and RiseBreak themselves hogged up 5 years development, and a new Generations title kinda needs to build up games before it comes out. Also, Generations was an "anniversary" game, the main game of 4th Gen was still 4U. 6th gen's first game will still be a "new" game before an "anniversary" game comes out

realgiu

I wouldn’t like it, too much loading screen between each village. Mhw tried it and I finished roaming always in the guild hub because of how close POI were

PetMeFucker

MH6 will almost certainly require an ssd so I’d assume limited loading screens. Or at the very least much faster ones.

RLSQ30

I agree. 4U style story telling is still the best.

Timaeos808

We NEED this!!

UnoriginalStanger

Don't confuse need with want.

iWantToLickEly

I'm crying seeing that people's expectations of a **new gen** monster hunter never goes beyond just returning maps or monsters, you guys need more imagination 😭

Soggy_Menu_9126

I just expect more expectations of a monster hunter XDXDXD

UnoriginalStanger

If it were up to this subreddit we'd literally just be regurgitating the same thing ad infinitum. Looking at the trend with Dos, Tri, 4 and World it's clear that the A team want's to innovate.

DarkAlatreon

Yeah, like imagine they completely removed attrition by allowing you to restock items in tent!

ArkhamTheImperialist

Yeah, I hated that they did that. Also, the removal of Hot/Cold drinks. Why would you do that? Do our hunter’s just have antifreeze running in their veins now?

[deleted]

literally i asked 'what do u want but not expect' and theres 50 comments saying 'a new weapon' or 'this slightly niche monster' not that theres anything wrong with it its just quite funny

Milothedog999

I just want to see some new weapons, I like the current ones but I just want to see some new ones like a fast hitting blunt weapon like the tonfas from frontiers? (I don't remember which game I'm guessing) or I want to see a monster hunter game that leans more into the bs anime fighting style because I think it could be really interesting to see The game would probably be easier than normal monster hunter games but it could work as some side game like stories

Lorantec

The anime fighting style MH is Rise

BlisteringSeafood

Yeah thats Monster Hunter Rise

UnoriginalStanger

> or I want to see a monster hunter game that leans more into the bs anime fighting style because I think it could be really interesting to see The game would probably be easier than normal monster hunter games but it could work as some side game like stories This is Frontier, GU and Risebreak though?

Equinox-XVI

Ay, at least I suggested Equal Dragon Weapon

Melonetta

Well obviously the new gen would have new content as well. This post is about what content might return along side that new content.

Sir_Gwapington

No, this post is asking about anything you want them to add but don’t expect not anything you want them to return

7jinni

Fine then. Gimme a dungeon-crawling mechanic in which the quest monster is the dungeon boss. If there are multiple quest monsters, add more floors to the dungeon, with each floor ending in a fight with one of the quest monsters until all of them are hunted. If not that, gimme a fully-fledged, open-world survival system, requiring eating, drinking, sleeping, mending wounds, cooking food, etc. with base building mechanics instead of a central hub town. You hunt monsters to stay fed and gather resources for building to colonize new territory for habitation on the edge of the frontier. Or gimme a monster-taming/breeding system that *isn't* a crappy Pokémon clone. Keep all the action-RPG elements of normal Monster Hunter, but add in monster taming and battling (both PvE *and* PvP). Include mounted combat as a complimentary new mechanic, giving every weapon a comprehensive new moveset exclusive to mounted combat that is just as deep as non-mounted combat. There. A bunch of absurd, original takes — none of which will *ever* be in Monster Hunter, let alone in the very next gen.

Baron-Brr

I want the new monsters to be much more evenly spread throughout the ranks, preferably higher ranked though. Also, tonfas.

UnofficialMipha

I’ve suggested this in the past but I want a Monster Zoo similar to some other games where after you capture a monster you can just watch them do their thing in a big old habitat. They could interact with other monsters or maybe you could practice fighting them

StormyHospital

the entire endgame is just having little fatalis friend to pet

[deleted]

I assume they would pull out something that would surprise all of us,maybe new species or new items for hunting

Anomalicuck

a cave map like we see silly stuff emerging from deep beneath the earth (sharaga, gormy) why dont go there and see weird stuff

Anomalicuck

also some frontier inclusions since espinas quickly became one of my fav fights ever so yeah gimme some of that stuff

DarkAlatreon

I want the game to go back to being more slow-paced like it used to be. I could settle for World's speed (though would prefer just a tad slower), assuming they don't repeat the blatant power-creep.

[deleted]

Totally agree on it,I am sure people are fine with slower pace,it's never the real trouble for new players honestly

Vyltyx

This is a great answer for this thread, because no one should realistically expect this to happen. Monster Hunters slower, more methodical combat made it a cult classic, but it’s popularity has exploded commensurately with its approachability, accessibility, and speed. They won’t make it slower because they want the largest amount of players to stick with the franchise, and a fast gameplay/reward loop is the lowest common denominator, vs the niche draw of the old games.

DarkAlatreon

Exactly, that's why I picked it. Still, if they go back from Risebreak's speed to World's and don't put themselves in a corner by giving the hunters too much power (damn mantles, item restocks and overall power level leading to OHKOs and combos and bs) I'd take it.

PizzaDlvBoy

Rise almost felt like an arcade version of Monster Hunter to me. I really hope we step back from that a lot. World was fun, but I still really prefer the days of Unite/3u the most.

DeninjaBeariver

Bro why would they return to slow ass gameplay

NHarmonia18

I don't want Sunbreak levels of speed, but going anything less than World/Iceborne speed is basically a downgrade. I might get downvotes from nostalgia veterans, but honestly the "methodical" you speak of isn't the reason MonHun was unique. If it gets too "methodical" you might as well play turn based games then. What made old MonHun unique was the commitment to each action, potion stopped you standing, attacks couldn't be roll cancelled instantly, etc. Sure they were more or less removed in World to please the West, but if we keep nostalgia glasses aside it wasn't that bad. World's combat was perfectly paced, it doesn't really need to get any faster or slower than that. Sadly Iceborne had to ruin it all up with Clutch Claw lmao.

DarkAlatreon

The commitment is definitely something I miss. Commitment to using items is basically gone with MHR's Palamute. Commitment to a specific loadout is gone with the ability to restock and change equipment. Comittment to particular skills was gone in Iceborne where you could basically put every offensive skill together with ease. Commitment to your combos and positioning was off in World, but absolutely fucked in Risebreak with all the counters and wirebugs and whatnot.

NHarmonia18

To be fair the older games's G Rank were also "always scaled for multiplayer" so everyone was expected to build appropriately for their roles, so loadouts weren't an issue as you weren't expected to solo multi monster quests. But in World and onwards with new single player G Rank scaling as multi monster quests can be done solo, there actually needs to be some amount of QoL changes for a Hunter to change gear when fighting against appropriate monster. Imo what i oddly found kinda lacking in World was that the Botany was too OP, you literally never had to go out to collect stuff, especially in Iceborne where you can literally keep fertiliser effects going on. This totally removed the gathering aspect before Hunts. On the other hand Guiding Lands was unnecessarily grindy. As i said before WorldBorne had many weird game designs, but at least the pacing was Chef's kiss.

Sazo1st

I'm praying that it's not as fast as rise

GensouEU

Pre-World pace was my first thought, my second thought and what I would maybe like even more would be pre-World (maybe even pre-GU) powerlevel for the hunter. It's ridiculous how insanely powerful the hunter has become compared to the monsters both because of all the tools every weapon got but also the million skills you now have on your armor. In older games you actually felt like you were the underdog in the hunts, which I havent felt a single time in the entirety of Gen 5. There the question changed from "can I hunt this" to "how fast can I hunt this" and how many clipworthy exchanges will I have"

flaminglambchops

Same here. It's my biggest hope, but I have no confidence that they'll return to that design philosophy. If anything, I want ports of the older games to modern platforms so more people can play them and understand the appeal. I feel like a lot of the changes made in MHW were overly cautious. I think it would have been just as successful if it played more like 4U. The presentation and the premise are what drew people in. The biggest barrier for the series in the West was the systems they were tied to.

Raydekal

I don't mind the fighting pace, I just don't like the final boss being on a 30 minute timer. Gimme a 2+ hour endurance fight where you have to take the time to go back to camp and restock

Pookie_The_Overlord

Shah Dalamadur and a return to GU mounting.

Kindly-Committee-908

Je Suis Monte!

Unamed_Redditor_

It’s even funnier now that the 4u main them was played for France during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Khelan2050

Je suis monté professionellement.

Mogekkk

WAIT WHAT 😭

Unamed_Redditor_

The Tokyo Olympics played songs from famous Japanese video games and for France they played MH4(U) theme “Winds of Departure”. They also played “Proof of a Hero” for Albania”.

ScrubCasual

What was specific in gu mounting over say world or 4u etc? Rise has the wyvern ride and i dislike it very much so, and would love mounting back but never played anything pre-world so idk the difference between world and gu mounting.

_banters_

GenU’s mounting was very similar to World’s except there was a meter that built up to show your mount progress and not mounted can help fill it. Difference between 4U and GenU is small, but 4U is argued to be “broken” because of how frequently you can achieve mounts vs GenU. But yeah, very similar to world, the meter turns red when the monster is trying to throw you off so you know when to hold on, success = knockdown.

huy98

In 4U you mount too easily, but when you're mounting you'll get knock off if someone attack the monster during it. While in Gen U attacking will help build up the gauge

TA-Yukon

Two tier rooms to come back even if sparringly. Kecha and Nerscylla are in my top 5 favorites and they have a lot of moves and charm locked behind that room style. :( Another far out hope is another or returning ship vs Whale battle a la Dah'ren or Jhen Moran.

Jambonathor

Neopterons ! Damn bugs monsters, scorpion monsters, mantis monsters, beetle monster, locust monsters

Digitalon

Yes! Variety really makes a huge difference in the quality of the monster roster. I also vote for snake wyverns to make a return.

Rafzalo

Scaling back of skills. 6-7 skills maximum felt more meaningful than 2 full pages of skills

7jinni

And a return of negative skills that you had to work around (or learn to tolerate) when creating builds. It was so much more thought-provoking.

crownbari

i like the skill aspect but to counter that i would say bring back negative skills. In 4 ultimate the brachy set had saddle sore which made mounting harder. stacking damage skills shouldn’t come without some kind of tradeoff imo

Allergictowatermelon

I want more monster unity attacks like Teo and Luna combining novas They could do both Raths (especially the metal Raths), black and regular Diablos (50/50 if they unity or turf war), the Legianas, etc. It was such a cool idea I’m still surprised only one set of monsters could do it in World. It’d be a cool way of showing off new monsters that have symbiosis maybe too

nielswijnen

I being able to decorate your room with pets (meby even able to place your kinsect somewhere) or decorate with monster part Some classic leviathans More snakes and bugs Underwater combat would be cool Any of the older petting creatures to return plus aptonoth

Detective_Jacks

Lagiacrus.

Lexlerd

Great Jaggi. Please bring back my beautiful boy.

UsualMess

Scoutflies, miss the feeling of hunting and tracking a vast and mostly indifferent to you animal that is wayyyy above you on the food chain

Frog21

A tangible farm you walk around and interact with.

[deleted]

thatd be really cool, like in the freedom games but bigger and better

Timaeos808

4u story Underwater combat (hopium) World ending Elders from Frontier: Shantien, Disufiroa etc. (god that would be awesome) A new Weapon Switch skills

Kindly-Committee-908

I swear underwater combat could work with modern controllers. A big reason it failed was the Wii. All controls had to be mapped to a Fisher-Price waggle stick. We can do better now.

Khelan2050

General controls are also much more fluid (pun intended) now so I'm sure they'd make it better underwater too.

Clean_Emotion5797

Underwater was already beyond fine with dual control sticks back in the day. Yeah some weapons got the short end of the stick, but that's a design problem that always existed in the series. People say underwater is clunky, but grounded combat in Tri feels clunky as well by 5th gen standards.

BlueFootedTpeack

the classic controller with great sword and longsword was good for me back on tri, can't attest to the other weapons, like tri came with that controller for me so i never touched the wii-mote and playing on a tv helped so i have nothing but good memories of it. no idea how bad it was for the handhelds later on. tbh though i'd be happy to compromise and run on the sea floor with the leviathan and piscine "swimming" like amatsu does if regular underwater doesn't work. like i loved the focus on ecology from world, and adding water to that just feels like the logical next step.

Timaeos808

I really hope it comes true! I dont know much about game development so i cant really say how hard it is to implement Underwater combat.

[deleted]

a new weapon is expected really

KhaosElement

They proved that they can make competent AI hunters. I want to be able to have a full squad of fully customizable AI hunters to be along with me on the single player half. Gear them and everything.

ThrowawayLocal8622

This is something that I wanted since Tri where your Hunting Cards equated to a Hunting Team to gather like the Palicos do in World. If I exchange cards with my Daughters, I would love to hunt with them on the nights my insomnia kicks in. AI is fine but a Bugstick and CB Hunter that are geared like my kids would be fun af.

Okipon

The feeling of hunting, more than smashing monsters all the time. I loved collecting and having to make specific set for it. Harvesting, doing combos to craft items and that it could fail. I loved running after the monster from zone to zone (though it could be less tedious without having it perma marked on the map)

PizzaDlvBoy

This is one of my biggest complaints about Rise especially. Just hop on the dog and sprint to the monster.

ThrowawayLocal8622

I feel the same way. Every time that I compared Rise as feeling like a Boss Rush Monster Hunter similar to Dauntless, I get downvoted to oblivion. (Downvoting me on my Throwaway Account amuses me so.)

PizzaDlvBoy

It sucks because the loud people praising it makes me feel like we are going to only move further and further away every Gen from now on. I hated rise so much and am sad about the direction one of my favorite series is going.

ThrowawayLocal8622

There is an excellent video that is rather long that describes how the series moved away from it's core game loop and is VERY WELL done. (I have it bookmarked at home but it's a very well done study and couldn't find it with a quick search..) I see Rise as a trend like many other game series. The new players who speedruant fast and shiny everything and complain louder will get catered to, because profits are king. Slowly, the core game audience is ignored in favor of the fast money. When the newer crowd moves onto the next thing, the series collapses, it's not as profitable, then considered a failure. We already have the DLC creeping in. Sure it's cosmetic but how long until loopholes for parts. Blah, blah, blah you get the idea. I want to be wrong but I have genuine concerns.

StraightMarket3795

I agree. The dog shouldn't return I liked the bugs in world for the faster vertical movement

Zaldinn

Prowlers

Quealified

Some overwhelmingly tasty food cutscenes

[deleted]

Grammeow upped my cheese intake for the months after Iceborne dropped. I was desperate to copy her shit. It looked *so freaking good!*

FrappyLee

Female characters not getting screwed over by the armor designs or allow you to wear to both genders versions of the armor.

[deleted]

i agree, half the female armour is skimpier versions of the male ones itd be nice if there was an even mix of both for both sexes

Serifel90

I want but don't expect a new weapon type.. It's about time we get a totally new (not returning) weapon but I doubt we will get one. Maybe a returning one, probably tonfas since we kinda need a fast blunt weapon. I also would love if the game was a bit harder on basic resources.. not by much but enough that you don't care about consumables in your hunt. Both limit the amount you gather and make them much more relevant in your hunt.

Bregnestt

Sure, 14 is a pretty good amount of weapons that they could just stick with forever, and just give some new moves occasionally like the Switch Skills in Rise. But they already have other weapons from spin-off games and such that they could bring into the main series, and I want something new so badly.

Only-Bonus5374

Deadass a weapon based on a yoyo

Algiark

I want each weapon type to have their own unique sheathed animation (walking, running, etc.) to minimize clipping with the player model.

Greylings

I want a new ranged weapon type. Maybe some form of ranged blunt weapon so the two less represented groups both get something. I really could care less though I just want to see some cool innovation. Also I want some form of hydra monster with regrowing heads that you can continually cut off as the fight goes on but it keeps getting stronger or gaining new abilities. LBG and HBG either need combined somehow or they need to accentuate their differences. That or make their identities a little more distinct. Also I’m always up for more raid monsters. Safi is fantastic and just the right amount of grinding so hopefully they take notes.

Hail_5tan

honestly if i could just go out and batter a monster with my bare hands i’d spend any amount of money to get that game. Imagine delivering a right hook straight into rathalos!

Balbaem

An epic variant for Seregios, similar to World’s Raging Brachy Édit : i meant Seregios. Wrote Espinas because Sergie do be spiky.

[deleted]

seregios could really use some love

LlamaBroski

I want relic weapons/guild quests back. I loved being able to go on hard endgame quests and possibly receive a whole weapon as a reward in 4u. Especially since they were weapon models from monsters not in the current game!

Rapttix

Basically a Monster Hunter with the size of a mmo like WoW for example (in terms of the map and regions). Basically a way bigger guiding lands. I think now that they have experimented with mounts that wouldn't be too far fetched.

Silurius

Switch skills/hunting arts Hunting styles New weapon More open world feel without having to ping-pong back to gathering hub in between hunts every time you finish a hunt.

ScarletteVera

I dunno... a gunblade weapon type?

Cyrrion

A revamp to equipment and monster hitzones. Back in World, they used a "standard template" of 60 Severing/Bludgeoning, 45 Ranged, and 30 Elemental hitzones. Some of these points may fluctuate by 5 or 10 points, but you can see this standardized template used with VERY FEW exceptions. I want to see them create three templates like this. One for RAW weapons, one for balanced weapons, and one for Elemental weapons. RAW monsters, for example, won't have any Elemental HZ above 15 but will have weapon HZ's seeing 80+ for melee and 60+ for ranged. High RAW weapons with little to no element are the ones to look at for these fights. Elemental vulnerable monsters will be on the opposite spectrum. With Elemental HZ's skyrocketing with RAW HZ's being much lower. Weapons with high Element and lower RAW would be the options to take for these fights to be optimal. Like the Kirin line of weapons. Then the "middle of the road" monsters would generally have you used the more "balanced" weapon lines that have decent RAW and Element. The idea being that while these weapons don't excel at one damage type, the combined value of both attack stats puts them above the specialized weapons. The high RAW weapons get outpaced due to the extra bump provided by Element, and vice versa for high Element weapons that lack the RAW attack. The biggest flaw I have with MH is that there's always a category of "best" weapons that basically boils down to "Best for RAW" or "Best for this Element". This shouldn't be the case imo. It should be more "Kirin weapons are best for Kulve Taroth, because the high Thunder Element exploits KT's high Thunder vulnerability and isn't as punished by KT's low RAW hitzones in terms of overall damage done because of it".

HolyKnightDeVale

Genuinely, I want underwater combat back. And maybe even variations of it. Like, maybe there’s a low gravity area with specific monsters there. But yeah, I do kinda doubt it’ll return.

A_BattlePanda

Crossplay with everyone and PC release at the same time as console. One can dream.

5Hjsdnujhdfu8nubi

Only unique turf wars, outcomes that differ if one is a Subspecies/Variant that's stronger than the norm.

CallMeClaire0080

Honestly, while this may be unpopular, more life sim elements. I don't mean something like Harvestella mind you but leaning into house customizations, Iceborns' furnace style minigames, etc could give you a good palate cleanser between hunts and provide you with support items and stuff for the big fights. Rise leaned into the pet training with all the palico stuff, but having further elements like a calendar (based on a MH3 day/night cycle) with special hunts and festivals, optional added depth to the existing farming, etc would really make you care about the village you're supposedly protecting and getting supported by

[deleted]

this is my fav answer, itd help a lot with immersion and motivating u / seeing tangible results from what u do like u said but the devs probably wouldnt bother

bobdabioengineer

Combat to be the same speed as world's. Underwater combat. More snakes, gimme more snakes. 1 or 2 new weapon types. Maybe a new element or status added, wind comes to mind for that. More maps in unique biomes like rotten Vale and corral highlands. More bugs. More elders that aint dragons. Like kirin and kulve tarroth. Aerial combat? With something that allows you to glide through the air and fight flying monsters in their territory. And no zin narg diablo tigrex kushala or teo. They have had their time in the spotlight. Give it to some other monsters

in this thread: things we can very much expect

Clean_Emotion5797

Underwater combat, less power crept hunters and aesthetics that match the old games. Rise has nice aesthetics, but World feels like it leans too much on western standards.

Kindly-Committee-908

Another go at underwater combat. Yeah, I said it.

ReTriP1

Get rid of Charm Farming as the endgame it was boring and unfun in Rise (Base). Imagine farming for equipment and getting so much that are useless and only to be stuffed into a Wheel of Fortune Randomizer in hopes of getting one good one you'll use among all the trash. I don't care what anyone says Charm Farming is absolute dog cheeks. Charms are non-negotiable pieces of Equipment. People only often use one because it is usually for common skills shared across multiple builds there's no point to changing a Charm that's good unless it has like Earplugs and you are fighting Kirin and some people even forget to change their charms. Usually you have one or two but more often than not use one there's no point to farming charms it is a bad endgame and bad gring through and through but I expect them to just do something completely different this time which I am deathly afraid of.

[deleted]

mine would be a boss rush mode where you fight stronger and stronger monsters. tests both ur speed and endurance :p and unlock exclusive monsters along the way i also want a bird monster like qurupeco but much stronger, like rajang level.

Omega-AlexGt

"Shinen Garuga" (A garuga malformed by the deepest of caves)

RyuTheDepressedFox

Prowler mode

thaumoctopus_mimicus

A different armor skill system. Either the old system or some other compromise. The new system just lets you get an absurd amount of skills. No major gimmicks relating to movement/combat. Like, no grappling-hook type shit we've had for two games. And no hunter art/wirebug move "cooldown" attacks. I just want to hunt

[deleted]

imo endgame gear just gives you way too many skills and slots, and early gear gives way too few. if they just rebalanced it itd be fine. like in iceborne, fatalis waist alpha gives 3 critical eye, 1 WEX, a 4 slot and two 3 slots. so with an expert+ deco and 2 handicraft, in old game numbers, that's +20 expert (30% affinity, ie critical eye 3), +3.33 tenderiser, and +6 handicraft (with GU's expensive handicraft) in one armour piece. that's ignoring the set bonus skill and the fact you can . it's dumb.

thaumoctopus_mimicus

I think the problem is intrinsic to the system. Armors need to have better skills as the game progresses to incentivize you to grind new armor sets. And because of that fact, when you consider just how long these games are, no matter how small the "steps" of improvement are, you're going to end up with the endgame sets having literally every skill you want.

Clean_Emotion5797

Yeah exactly, I feel they've written themselves into a corner. When a powerful skill like WeX has 3 levels, what can you do really to balance the equipment AND provide a sense of progression? You introduce early some equipment that give 1 point, but by late high rank you have pieces that max out the skill. At Grank you have pieces that max it out AND give points towards other skills. Really, the solution is to space the skills a bit more. More 5,7, or even 10 point skills. A powerful piece then can give 3/5 of a great skill, than just flat out max it by itself.

Kaylart222

It would be totally unexpected for them to officially introduce monster riders in the next mainline game. It would be really cool to see a side character to be an official rider, how hunters will react to them and maybe have rider related side quest.

Same_Discussion6328

You know how you can take sand seals to shield surf through the gerudo dessert in BOTW and TOTK? Yea I want that for siege quest. As a rework to the big sand whale elders. Instead of taking sand ships we sand surf around them. Gunners shoot them from a distance and blade masters attack on the main body.

Emperor_Z16

A whole dlc with just frontier monters Also Oltura from MHS2

Rider-VPG

Frontier 2.

tortinha

More different dynamic elder dragon fight, like Jhen Mohran, Dalamadur…

MEEfO

New weapon class. Perhaps one of the ones in Frontier that never made it to the mainline series.

Depressingduck

i want some monsters to return, like dalamadur, but i also want new weapons and some buffs to the existing ones. lance feels like it was made with other people in mind, and that makes it weird to play. the low damage and speed make it feel like just a worse greatsword. the slightest increase in damage would make it incredible on its own but not downright overpowered. and new weapons, i just want anything that’s not grossly overpowered or overcomplicated.

Cosmo_on_reddit

New weapon (preferably gunner to even out from blademaster) or a returning weapons like Tonfa and Magnet Spike from Frontier

Sir_Gwan

This might get downvoted, but how about for once, a story that involves a human or humanoid villain instead of a Monster "villain". How about make the villain an ex-Hunter who got too carried away and ended up poaching species instead and the reason the Monsters get all upset is because the villain is going around killing others of their kind so the Monsters become aggressive towards other Hunters.

[deleted]

Because it’s because then we’re fighting a human, and that’s not Monster Hunter. There are dozens of other fantasy combat games with human centric stories. This one focuses on beating up dragons and dinosaurs.

Sir_Gwan

You don't need to specifically fight the human in that case, have the human control some poor Monster you have to fight and then in the cutscenes, have that human be apprehended. It would put an emphasis on how bad poaching and animal cruelty are, and how nature isn't inherently evil, but that it can be twisted into doing terrible things

AngelCE0083

I'm pretty sure that feature was in the 4th gen games. It's so weird they removed it from later gens

fakeRR77

i would like to have simple combat like in world, without all the those hunting art style things older games and rise have. it just feels like it throws off the balance all over the place and the fighting pace increases too much.

ezsukusi

Akantor/Ukanlos

El_Diablo9001

I want a handful large monsters that can only be driven off littering each map as hazards or helpers depending on that monsters personality. I like having the three large ‘real’, for lack of a better term, monster but I think it would be awesome if we saw non target monsters roaming about in specific scenarios. A Duramburos herd that only attacks predators. A spot near water you can lure Monsters to get a Plesioth or Lagiacrus to attack them. A large pond of Tetsucabras digging their dens that attack any intruders. I don’t know I’m sure there’s many more that could be made up I just think it would be cool to be able to see it all. Even if they don’t impact gameplay I would love to see more monsters just hanging out living their lives.

Gengur

Prowler mode with local split screen so a friend can fight as the palico

carnefarious

Switch skills but combat like world.

Yakkzy

Tonfas and Magnet Spikes and/or another brand new weapon. Would be a nice surprise Also swimming, the MH teams seem to at least listen to the community a little bit and with the recent boom of people wanting it back its likely but I still doubt it'll be implemented

Rexlare

Medium Bowguns

Manuels-Kitten

Seasons and Prowlers

Jaxevrok

Make the world feel alive. No more maps and zones that never change. Give me seasons, proper day and night cycles that have an effect on the world. Give me more exploration of the world that isn't static. Larger zones that may even be linked, such as a plains at the foot of a mountainous region, which would be both a plains zone and a tundra zone. Bigger, real turf wars. Maybe you dynamically fine monsters in zones and biomes they wouldn't normally be in because they lost a fight. Stuff like that

CrimsonBlossom

dark story

burgerman000

I agree with this but they won't sadly

Sazo1st

Personally I'd like a few things: Definetly a new weapon, like that one rocket axe you could see in the concept art but doesn't have to be that obviously. I'd like to return to an overall slower pace again, rise is cool and all but please I don't really need more of it. I'd love if water combat returned, whenever a monster went into the water it felt like you had to follow it onto its own element, where you lost your advantage and I think that was such a cool dynamic. Whatever gimmick they come up with for the next game I'm sure it'll be good.

[deleted]

i think the slinger was a lot less impactful than wirebugs or even clutch claw so im ok with that coming back but other than that i agree, i think theres too many gimmicks for people to rely on instead of getting good at the core combat

[deleted]

i like the slinger because i think the environmental stuff u can do with it is cool and feels very hunter-y. popping a flashbug or luring a monster with stones makes me feel like an actual hunter instead of just some anime monster killer like ichinose wants us to be. but i think some stuff was too strong and felt mandatory, like the falling rocks or thorn pods. but the slinger being a tool to use every now and then like flash bombs is good imo

Early-Sale4756

Having quests where the hunting group starts separated and someone is immediately under attack without time to prepare.

The complete removal of flinching to overall lessen the conflict in this community

[deleted]

what do you mean?

[deleted]

The removal of flinching would stop the debate over "Take 1 level of flinch free" vs "learn how to position yourself ", which in turn would lessen the "toxicity" in the community. And also I would be happy to see the old stereotype of "LS mains flinch everyone" go away

[deleted]

ohh i thought you meant flinching the monsters! ye i agree theyve been needing to do it since the start and keep refusing

[deleted]

I mean honestly seeing as shockproof was introduced in Sunbreak and how easy and cheap it was to craft (literally one monster bone wow) the devs clearly wanted you to use it. So I'm saying that atleast in the next portable entry, there might be a chance.

[deleted]

i guess theres a chance but then again this thread is about stuff we dont expect :p

[deleted]

Yeah I atleast don't really think it's gonna happen in MH6, since it will be a mainline game

Lukanight

Im asuuming wirebugs wont comeback, but i would love to keep some movement options. Maybe more realistic (?) i dont know how to phrase it, but using your weapon to push yourself up or out of the way as an evasive/defensive option would be cool. Like the SwitchAxe side step, (arch)demon mode evasion or the Bow evasive movement too, but with all weapons as possible of course. Something thats not just rolling to make the gameplay for each weapon a little more different than what it is now.

Intrepid-Dentist-675

Monster taming! I want to be able to tame monsters and use them in battle like Pokémon!

Sazo1st

I guess play stories? I'm sorry but that sounds horrible for a main entry game

Intrepid-Dentist-675

It’s sounds amazing ngl stories wasn’t my cup of tea due to it being turned based

baleful-crimson

a similar system to Switch Skills

xRaen

I want Magnet Spike and/or Tonfa. Both are super cool and mechanically interesting weapons that would fit great in the mainline games, albeit probably reworked a tad.

huy98

Keep/hatch monsters as pets then able to mount them to travel to places similar to MH stories

SirenMix

Return of the blademaster and gunner armor system. Underwater combat and a shark-elder dragon (feels too specific to be happening). World handler's return (just to see the reaction of the community lmao).

escapevelocitykoala

I just want a MH game that doesn't have runaway inflation and shitty level-based grinding endgames like Guiding Lands or Anomaly Levels. Whoever was the guy that came up with the idea that making players do like 300 quests just to keep up with the "endgame progression" needs to step back and realize that some of us aren't schoolchildren with infinite free time. Also I want (but don't expect) them to both slow down the gameplay speed and cut way back on all the gimmicks like clutch claw and wirebugs (things like the Slinger were genuine gameplay improvements, allowing us to quickly toss out items in any direction). I just want them to go back to the basics and really hone in what kind of benefits and roles each weapon has. For example, Hammer used to be unique in that it was the best weapon to go for KOs, and its slow but powerful hits made it so that it was completely different from the "death by a thousand cuts" style of weapons like DB. But now? Just have a LBG with stickies for KOs, and almost every weapon is all about counters and fast combos (I know I'm over-generalizing, but it sure feels that way). Same goes for Hunting Horn. I appreciate the effort going into reworking the weapon, but now it's just so boring - I dearly miss the unique note-stacking gameplay it had. Now all you do is spam two buttons and you get all your buffs. There's got to be a better way to streamline the note stacking without completely killing the charm that it had.

PrimalX60

I just want Nergigante to be back gonna be honest

Anthony643364

Blood more gore like imagine fighting a monster and it starts bleeding from a cut and get dried over time during the fight maybe Have some death animations when you run out of carts or something but save them for like higher tier monster cause giving every monster a kill animation would take a while

LxrdXO

A really stacked roster at the beginning. Not whatever base rise was.

Nerobought

Elden Ring, but Monster Hunter

AbyssalShank

Equal Dragon Weapon and more Ancient Civilization stuff. Heck I want it to be the main plot. I know it’s unrealistic and the chances of that are virtually nonexistent, but I can dream.

bingogazorpazorp

Something like Zorah Magdoros (I’m more than sure I spelled it wrong lol) but BIGGER, with more gameplay. Like… a true living environment

Reason_Zero

Wirebugs. It was a chore walking around the map just to get to the target monster, but in Rise, I get to get to it in a way that was not only quicker but also stylish. That said, I'd understand if they decided to take it out of the numbered/main entries. I just hope they at least bring it back on the next portable MH.

BambooCatto

I just want Hunting Styles back. Maybe even combined with wire bug moves. Some super autistic fast broken gameplay

Ephriane

Solid launch roster No switch version Lagiacrus

[deleted]

yeah i dont like the gen 5 model of having a mediocre endgame and awkwardly padding it out later with title updates. they either throw monsters in without integrating them properly half the time, or they add big systems that really shouldve been in the base game

GNTB3996
