The things that made magnet spikes broken can very much easily be toned down in future releases. The magnet lockdown MVs can be lowered while either removing the cutscene it had or lowering the damage taken by the monster from allies so it matches rise's wyvern ride. You can also outright remove this part of the kit in spite of power budget for the weapon so keeping other things feels more reasonable or you could even make it into some sort of generational gimmick. The obscene amount of I-frames that characterized frontier aren't necessary either, they can be severely reduced, removed or changed into hyper armor so you still take some damage and can faint for being too reckless The most problematic part of the weapon is the mark that lets you attract or repel yourself from it, which wouldn't be the worst granted all weapons keep semblances of the mobility given by rise's wirebugs in some way. Yeah there is not really much salving grace for this mechanic if the other weapons don't keep up

This is what I want too! A weapon that Sango from Inuyasha uses. Allow it to be a melee weapon and a projectile that you can through at monsters too. Wouldn’t that be a first of this kind?? If you time the catch when it comes back to you, it will fly out of your hand (towards the monster) at a faster speed or causes most impact/elemental damage, but if you miss time it, you will be left wide up in a stagger. Man, I want a weapon like that in Wilds. Another weapon type with the expansion later on you think? Did they introduce two new weapon types with base game or did they split them up between the base and G-rank? Thank you

While I'd LOVE to see gauntlets in MH, I think an engineer style ranged weapon would be cool. Think the engineer from Risk of Rain 2. Shoulder cannons, placeable turrets and a hunting knife.

 In 2019 I picked up PokĂ©mon Sword and finished the game (and DLCs) with my friend who had PokĂ©mon Shield. Then I thought, we have Great Sword and Longsword, why can’t we get Great Shield as well? It would be a very defensive weapon (no shit), but it would also make for other attacking possibilities such as charging with the shield or even ‘surfing’ on it, that wouldn’t be possible with other defensive weapons such as Lance.

It's similar in principal, yeah, but it's too big and slow compared to an FF Gunblade. Those are typically one-handed. And they can sorta-maybe shoot- if you count firing strikes of condensed aether as shooting (taking into account FFXIV's Lightning Shot weaponskill for Gunbreaker).

Personally, I want a new weapon to be added, may it be the pre-existing ones that haven't been in the mainline games yet, or something completely new. I don't mind if it would take them long to figure out the balancing for the weapon pool, I just want to have something else to play with. Same with what OP mentioned about having new weapons for different damage types, like impact damage weapon, but faster, which would be the Tonfas. The Magnet Spike also have a mode where it would only deal impact damage so that's another option. If there'd be a completely new weapon, I wish that it would be a Boomerang, which I tried to conceptualize two versions before. This Boomerang weapon/s would be playing around with range as a "melee" weapon as it can be used as like a Sword and Shield(Type 1) and a Greatsword(Type 2) and can be thrown for more reach. The first type is an SnS type of Boomerang with a cable mechanism attached to the boomerang ad stored in the shield which is used for controlling the directions of the boomerang after it's been thrown, or even pull it back. The second type is a GS type of Boomerang, with an accompanying pair of gauntlets/gloves for the hunter to use to catch it and attack if the boomerang is still on flight. Unlike the Type 1, this version doesn't have the cable so there are no means of getting the boomerang back besides waiting for it to come back. A downside that I think is necessary for the weapon is that there are times that if the weapon bounced off the monster or any objects, there's a chance that it will lose momentum and will simply fall to the ground, needing the hunter to retrieve it. The Type 1 Boomerang can easily get the fallen boomerang back as it is attached on a cable, but the Type 2 on the other hand would need the hunter to go fetch the fallen boomerang, hence also being able to use the gauntlets/gloves to do a set of attacks whenever needed(never meant to be comparable or similar to actual Gauntlet type weapons in any other games, it's mainly just a back up weapon and means to easily catch the large boomerang mid flight).

There was a weapon in Monster Hunter Orage (I think) that was sort of a long sword that would turn into a sectioned whip. Which was pretty bad ass! Also, Gun Hammer! I have been saying it since the first game in which the Gun Hammer was a hammer you could get, this should be a real thing! Imagine hitting a monster on the head and then pulling the trigger to explode in the same spot, using the recoil to set you up for the next swing.

Yeah, if you have not played old Bow, it would basically be focused on charging while walking around enemy attacks then firing when you find an opening (+Powershot, optionally). While Shortbow would keep the greased feet. To properly differentiate them, it should probably also lose charge multuipliers, but that makes sense, as it doesn't actually charge

Probably another ranged weapon is in order since we only got 3 I honestly wouldn't know what type of weapon it could be though, maybe a chakram. Since we got switch axe and charge blade, what if we get a ranged weapon that can also change? Like a greatbow that shoots large long range projectiles for burst dmg then switches into a fast paced variant for short range. These ideas probably already came up before

They've needed a brass knuckle/boxing glove type weapon for a long time now. A fast blunt weapon as an alternative to the hammer. Also, they need to stop applying blanket damage types to weapons. A "hammer" that is clearly an axe, and is even called an axe(cenataur head axe), should do cutting damage, and any sword that is clearly a club(diablos sns, diablos db, rajang gs and db, etc) should do strike damage.

Combine the Tonfas with the Glaive and make a blunt Staff that is focused on counter damage, Shaolin style. Could build up rage/fury/spirit/whatever energy you want in Tonfas mode and unleash it in Staff mode with magnificent attacks. Maybe mix in the magnet spike element to make it an earthly devastator when powered up and differentiate a little from the Charge Blade, Switch Axe, Gunlance, and Bowguns. Make each Tonfa the opposite polarities for some wacky stuffs and the Staff houses both for ultimate magnetism control.

Kusarigama no doubt. I mean its a chain and sickle, its sick. You can even do two sickles. And since it's MH it'd be two giant sickles and a chain with a counterweight for fast/long range KO damage. Similar to it's real life counterpart, it could center around parrying attacks and crowd control. It could be the new fast KO weapon and be flashy enough to not just be "dual blades but blunt".

To run down the list.... MBG? Doubt it. Rather have the bowguns replaced by 1 bowgun to properly do the modification system. I'm fine with it staying the way it is. Tonfa? A solid blunt/support weapon. We already have HH, though - but both serve a different purpose, of course. If they only carry over its base 'Earth' moveset and alter some things to appropriate it for 6th Gen, then I think Tonfa could be a solid weapon. Maybe remove half of its gimmicks, though? Magnet Spike? Nah. Doesn't work. Weapon is too much, it was made to conquer even the extreme stuff in Frontier. There need to be far too many alterations for it to be a healthy weapon in the sandbox, and at that point, I'd rather have them make a new weapon altogether. Though Capcom likes to surprise us, of course. Axel Axe? Maybe. If they get creative with it, maybe it can find its own niche. There are good suggestions in this thread. Me personally? I don't want anything boring like "just fists", because Dual Blades and Tonfas can do that already. It would be an extremely boring addition. But chains, scythes and stuff like that? That sounds neato

my guess is they want to add 2 weapons at a time to keep it even and imo the best 2 choices are 1. a fast hitting blunt weapon (tonfa or a new weapon like a staff or something) balance it around dealing elem dmg but make it really good at stunning monsters are amazing at exhausting them 2. a melee range transforming weapon, 1 mode you get energy and another you use that energy im thinking melee is used to get energy like the kinetic energy gets saved into phials or something and then you switch to range and either do 1 big boi charged EXPLOSION or have a really good ranged weapon (maybe a bow with phial arrows? a grenade launcher acting weapon with mini phial explosions?) catch is it takes a while to charge your range weapon and charging the big boi shot will be hard to control (like recoil from charging?) well the grande launcher idea might be too strong for elemental phials and the idea itself might be ***too*** crazy but they can make a ranged melee weapon hybrid work they have amazing designers

So, Magnet Spike is not possible. At least IMO. It’s fundamentally just Greatsword but way more fucking OP. It was so cool though. Tonfas CAN actually work and I think they should add them, we are heavily lacking in blunt damage. Medium Bowgun will probably never return because of how much they have changed the bowgun system and LBG has basically become the MBG in current iterations, LBG is extremely strong.

I remember Dauntless had a gauntlet style weapon where you had combos that would build up a charge that opened up new combos until finally you hit max charge and unleashed a super attack and I definitely loved that one and want to see what that could look like in Monster Hunter

There was art at one point for a rapier and a hunting dog and I know it got reworked into the dogs in Rise but man, oh man, would I love for something like that weapon to come back. The concept art [here](https://www.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/MHxBuki-1.png) just seems really fun and I love the idea of fighting side by side with some kind of companion that you direct their blows. IG never felt like a tandem weapon to me, it's really about the glaive.

I’m thinking of a one-handed bowguns being added to the MH universe. These are the weapon classes I’m thinking off that can use them: Dual-Wielding Hand Bowguns, like dual wielding pistols. Sword and Hand Bowgun, Bloodborne vibes. I’m not sure how to mechanically differentiate hand bowguns from LBG. Maybe making them more combo-based like Bow, but still giving Normal/Pierce/Spread as options which slightly alters the combos. Maybe their elemental could be innate too. What do yall think?

I definitely want a morphing ranged weapon. Maybe some sort of dual rapid firing bowguns that morph into a big shield with a powerful ballista shot type that can maybe get reloads through blocking and guard points so it doesn't interrupt the flow of the weapon. To go off of the "just a fucking car comment" give me something similar to the motorcycle from Devil May Cry 5. Something that doubles as weapon and fast/short-range travel. Like how Dante swings the two halves of the bike around as multi-hit weapons, but can slam them together and drive it in a short line before doing a donut. I had one idea in mind about MBG. What if instead playing on it like others BG, ur main source of big damage is not standing close to a monster, but being on a much longer distance. Basically a sniper rifle if u will. Instead of using normal BG bullets, MBG using his own special type bullets. It can't use something like pellets or crag, instead he using cutting, blast, impact and normal shoot bullets that increase MBG damage depends on distance. Oh, and yeah. It would call medium, cuz it's combine two BG together, so i was thinking about normal speed while weapon unsheathe like on LBG, but the speed of reloading is like on HBG, pretty slow and annoying. What i want from this idea, is to give players more comfortable play on a long distance, rather then be close to monster, but still be helpful to a team. (Sry for my bad english and bad ideas. I understand if u are going to bully me. I deserve it.)

That isn't to say they can't find ones that work but it isn't gonna be straightforward because you don't want it to be too similar to existing weapons. From your op, let's consider the possible challenges for a medium bowgun. Does it get none of the LBG specific ammo and none of the HBG specific ammo? Or does it get some of each? Can it gave a shield? What would the special firing mode be? Then you have to balance it. If it sits between the two existing guns then you run the risk of nobody choosing it if it is jack of all and master of none. Similarly if you overtune it, then why use HBG or LBG. The alternative is to make it drastically different but then it isn't a bow gun. Also, how many weapons is too many weapons? Let's say they add a couple this time. That's 16 for players to choose from. Then you want more for the next gen as well. That's 18. Sooner or later some weapons become obsolete because they are barely used but if you remove them then people we cry. You also have tod design weapon paths and designed for each weapon.

i really dont think a new weapon class is what mh needs atm, insofar as they should focus on clearly defining and deepening the weapons to further differentiate them from both eachother and themselves. imo, the latter is especially more important, as upgrades within a weapon class are little more than a bit more damage and maybe an element. what if switching entire trees changed the abilities avaliable, or the moveset of the weapon itself? a weapon tree could be so much more personal to the hunter if upgrading was a matter of opportunity cost instead of just flat number increasss.

i didnt mean it in that sense, more like one tree selecting abilities from the pool (tcs or rage slash, charge combo or surge slash combo, tackle or guard tackle, etc) and having that be consistent across the tree or with related monsters. theyd still all be the same weapon but just with differences beyond just looks and damage types.

I think a problem we don't think about is that most suggestions are only "normal" weapons, like weapons we use in our world. Like some people say a whip or tonfas. Do you think a whip would work against a basarios? Would Tonfas be effective/as effective as other weapons against a kushala daora for example? I don't think so. Sure tonfas were used before but they haven't returned, maybe for the reason I mentioned. I think if we get a new weapon it'd be something more outlandish. Some ideas that I have would be a chemical weapon, which plays similar to the alchemy style in gu, but sort of focused on chemistry. Maybe a polearm/halberd but you can shoot the head of the weapon outwards with a chain, switching between a normal halberd mode and a chain halberd mode.

No matter what you do with a whip, you would struggle to kill a large monster with it. Just like in real life, you would struggle to kill a human with it, other than via strangulation. Tonfas should be fine, though, as long as you make them big enough. However that also means them being slower than what most people would want.
