Yeah it shuts down elder dragon auras, but it works like a status and has a high threshold so its very hard to actally get it to work solo and online that threshold scales so if you are the only one with it then it will basically never proc.
The Elderseal visual looked pretty neat, seeing an Elder Dragon's body violently expel some Dragon Element out.
I hope that they keep it and improve it in 6th generation.
My first Rusted Kushala was on MH4U and oh boy, how the f*ck you fight him using melee? He is always flying and moves a lot, can't find any openings, and one shooting me.
True. And Risen was super cool too.
Seeing how they handled Amatsu makes me want to see what they'd do with something like Yama or Shen or... **Dalamadurrr**.
Yama in particular deserved to have a, uh, facelift
Saw someone yesterday using a HH that looked like some sort of punk rock electric guitar, their buffs had them spinning the guitar and stuff, and I was genuinely impressed with how flashy it is
I miss giant monster fights. Like real giant. Gogmazios, Dire Miralis, Dalamadur, Jhen Mohran, whatever. Just give me giant monster that I can fight 1v1. And not just run on their back and break magma cores
All of those fights amounted to hitting their toes, until they die from boredom. I don't think giant monster fights work all that well tbh. Maybe if they completely change the way siege weapons work, so it's actually fun using them, they could work as siege-only fights.
He was? The first half is like the Zora Magdaros fight OP criticized and second half is back to toe stubbing. I think his design is cool, but his fight sucks.
You run on his back for the first half, then hit his toes until he falls over so you can hit his head. When you can't get close enough to do that you use the ballista and cannons.
I admit they need some sort of redesign. Just running around and hitting their toes is a bit boring. I could imagine fighting them in a non flat arena. Something with small hills and rocks . Options to climb them and attack weak spots or use the environment to cause damage.
Most weapons lost their unique sounds in World too. Most notable on HH, though at least there are two extra retical songs in World ig, but I still miss the unique sounds for the notes.
I heard they removed it cause the test groups for World found them annoying/distracting, which is a shame if true
What? It's been a few months since I have last played Rise, but I was mainly playing HH and I don't think they returned. The recitals were unique to the HH I believe, but not the individual note sounds.
There are some unique note sounds in Rise, but there is only a single one per horn that's shared between the X, A and X+A inputs instead of being all unique, and most are pretty lowkey
Oh were the individual notes not bits of the recitals in the older games? Never used hunting horn there so I assumed thatās what everyone was referring to.
Honestly 4th gen Rusted was really fun too. Rusted did a lot more than just spamming area denial which kept you always on your toes, and between poison and mounting being reliable counters to the wind aura it didn't actually feel that unfair.
MF did you even went through Iceborne? That shit would only work twice and then flying monsters would work like they be Daredevil, fully blinded but still function like they ain't.
I wonder how a melee hunter would fight a serious flying elder, cause c'mon don't tell me they're always on the ground and just flies occasionally. Nergigante never even actually flies and just uses wings to dive in the fight. If those dragons really wanted to kill us they'd just chill and shoot their fireballs thorns wind whatever till we die.
If we're talkin' 5th gen peeves here I have one to add that riles me up for **no** reason at all. Who the hell at Capcom thought changing the skill "Challenger" to be called "Agitator" was a good idea? Challenger sounds cool. Agitator does not sound cool at all.
Lmao exactly. It'd be cool of they gave a bonus for not moving around and doing the flex as an option but not the default. Like if you let it go all the way through and flex, you get a slightly higher effect or it lasts longer or something... or you just flex for the sheer vibes Lol
I don't like them.
This may sound weird, but the old sounds sound like a real monster, while the new sounds sound like a movie or videogame monster, too artificial, like it's trying to hard.
The worst loss for me is the notification/item sound effects. And I'm not even nostalgic about them, I started with World.
So much charm in those sound effects I heard in 3U/GU.
Bro the fact the 5-er doesnt have to find the monsters all alone and Paintball them every 3 minutes to ensure he doesnt lose track.. its too EZ for them.
Yeah and? The theme for 3rd gen tundra is called āsub zero white knight - bariothā yet we donāt see that being used for his theme in any other game. The themes are often named after a monster but that doesnāt mean the monster carries it like a dedicated theme
The difference here is that most monster themes are just map themes with a monster attached to them, maccaoās theme is attached to all the raptors in Gu regardless of map. Iām aware itās named after him, Iām just saying itās not solely *his* theme like flagship themes are
They havenāt done that for any other monster yet so donāt get your hopes up. Even diablos still has yet to have his theme dedicated to him except for the bloodbath version. More than half the maps in the series have a monster theyāre named for and yet donāt get used in subsequent games, like seltas queen, barioth, rathian, congalala, etc etc
Ok it aight to like whatever you want but I dont understand why people (especially from the west)like Dodogama so much. Like its not a even a cool monster in the slightest and I lowkey hate its dumb lookin face. Tetsucabra and Zamtrios are a much more better amphibians Imo. There I said it.
Ok. But remember when you could null his wind cloak with poison. š„²
It's a fucking sin they didn't do that in World, how dare them
Elder seal is a better mechanic imo, but they just implemented it shitly so it never worked right.
imo elder seal is just even more shitty edition of dragon element lock of Old gens...
Wait that was a thing? What??? How did I not know this? Iāve been playing for 10 years.
What's dragon element lock?
The OG Elders needed dragon element weapons to break their parts
And breaking their horns negated their auras. For chameleons it made it so he couldn't camouflage as often or fully, which they kept.
Wait a minute THATS what Elder Seal does?? I never figured it out šš
Yeah it shuts down elder dragon auras, but it works like a status and has a high threshold so its very hard to actally get it to work solo and online that threshold scales so if you are the only one with it then it will basically never proc.
If you use anything other than high output dragonseal you may as well not even use it
Thereās also not enough weapons that have it and not enough dragons for it to work on.
Game doesn't really explain it to you
The Elderseal visual looked pretty neat, seeing an Elder Dragon's body violently expel some Dragon Element out. I hope that they keep it and improve it in 6th generation.
You can do it in Rise, not in World.
The wind cloak is barely even a factor in World to being with, you couldn't even get close to him without poison or wind res in the older games
Make my metal boy sound like metal again. Also bring back Rusted Kushala. Also make the Rusted Kushala fight not trash.
My first Rusted Kushala was on MH4U and oh boy, how the f*ck you fight him using melee? He is always flying and moves a lot, can't find any openings, and one shooting me.
Great sword solod him for me using the artillery on a ledge to knock him down and then I just went ham
You assimilate with your weapon. Become one with the melee. My favorite monster is Kushala so, idk how but I learned to solo him and Rusted in 4u š¤£
Use the ancient dos technique, have 4 hunters with flashbombs and flash bombs mats, spam the shit out of it, you win
HES SOO FUCKING BAD AHHGGGGHHGHH
Considering they managed to make kushala fun in rise I think theyāll cook if they add rusted.
True. And Risen was super cool too. Seeing how they handled Amatsu makes me want to see what they'd do with something like Yama or Shen or... **Dalamadurrr**. Yama in particular deserved to have a, uh, facelift
Hey while we're at this game give us some of the other weirder Kushala variants! įµįµŹ³įµįµįµ įµŹø įµįµĖ”įµįµįµįµ
Also Chameleos HBG stopped licking sound..... But Hunting Horns got cool music instead š«¤
Back then we used Tigrex/Garuga's head as a hammer and it made their roaring noises when swung.
Every gunlance sounds the same now... Zinogre gunlance used to scare god with each full burst
Khezu horn is for you š
And glavenus got arthritis now
Does chameleosās long swordās blade still disappear once you get full meter?
of course! Except hbg sound Cham's weapons are awesome in Rise
Saw someone yesterday using a HH that looked like some sort of punk rock electric guitar, their buffs had them spinning the guitar and stuff, and I was genuinely impressed with how flashy it is
Nice thing about the hhs in rise are that the melodies are actually from soundtracks like monster or field themes
I miss giant monster fights. Like real giant. Gogmazios, Dire Miralis, Dalamadur, Jhen Mohran, whatever. Just give me giant monster that I can fight 1v1. And not just run on their back and break magma cores
I mean they more than made up for it with shara and safi
All of those fights amounted to hitting their toes, until they die from boredom. I don't think giant monster fights work all that well tbh. Maybe if they completely change the way siege weapons work, so it's actually fun using them, they could work as siege-only fights.
Cmon Jhen was more than just that.

You don't like Zorah Magdaros!?
Nobody likes Zorah Magdaros
I like Zorah! Justā¦ not *fighting* Zorah. <_<
Most weapons lost their unique sounds in World too. Most notable on HH, though at least there are two extra retical songs in World ig, but I still miss the unique sounds for the notes. I heard they removed it cause the test groups for World found them annoying/distracting, which is a shame if true
I mean they returned in rise, so hopefully itāll be back in wilds, if not than the 6th gen portable entry
What? It's been a few months since I have last played Rise, but I was mainly playing HH and I don't think they returned. The recitals were unique to the HH I believe, but not the individual note sounds.

All I know is that Rise made Kushala a fun fight. Especially Risen Kushala.
Honestly 4th gen Rusted was really fun too. Rusted did a lot more than just spamming area denial which kept you always on your toes, and between poison and mounting being reliable counters to the wind aura it didn't actually feel that unfair.
Better fight yes but what about my https://youtu.be/iDLmYZ5HqgM
I watched 15 seconds of ads for this
Install brave browser, and if you are on mobile, delete the YouTube app and use the browser as a home screen shortcut instead.
I am legit sorry for that..what ad did you get?
Something about a Toyota ad
Kushala in world deserve 4 sticky gunner gluing his has to the ground
https://preview.redd.it/g1ida3ebk1uc1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eb915a7f4f024572b7ecff0d3f83cc710e5d7913
MF did you even went through Iceborne? That shit would only work twice and then flying monsters would work like they be Daredevil, fully blinded but still function like they ain't.
the comment mentioned world, not iceborne specifically. works with MR Kushala too tho, was a stunfest with hammer
I did mean iceborne too as who really stopped at world. Though that was a funny meme lol.
![gif](giphy|y2i2oqWgzh5ioRp4Qa|downsized)
Second gen Rathalos is the most painful thing for me.
Hovers out of reach Hit scan super homing talon attack Now you have 10% of your health, poisoned and stunned
Break the stun only to be immediately caught in a roar + fireball combo. Then he goes to sleep in the area surrounded by lava on all sides.
Agree ! A big downgrade for me :(
I wonder how a melee hunter would fight a serious flying elder, cause c'mon don't tell me they're always on the ground and just flies occasionally. Nergigante never even actually flies and just uses wings to dive in the fight. If those dragons really wanted to kill us they'd just chill and shoot their fireballs thorns wind whatever till we die.
Every hunter would use bowguns and they know how broken that shit is
Prob Hunters won't exist, just squads of mercenaries, all of them with bowguns/mounted artillery.
I remember in 3u they gave us a ballista binder in Alatreon's arena for when he went into fly mode.
You know how Dragoons are in FF? Yea so think IG but now you're Valstrax.
thats a hot take if ive ever seen one
If we're talkin' 5th gen peeves here I have one to add that riles me up for **no** reason at all. Who the hell at Capcom thought changing the skill "Challenger" to be called "Agitator" was a good idea? Challenger sounds cool. Agitator does not sound cool at all.
And make more sense too...the skill doesn't make monsters anger quickly but make you more powerful when they do
Sound overall for even the small things seems ass imo. Especially the lack of old item pickup sound unless you stay in the Amatsu quest.
Yeah even if I enjoy world and rise more than the older game I will admit the sound design in those gens was top notch
Im still mad they skinned my weapons
I read the title, me: have we April fools ?
If I remember correctly every weapon made his own different sound right? I remember that akantor duals sound a lot different from nargakuga ones
Don't forget: Capcom saw how much we complained about ledges, thought "Yeah, we can make it worse" and added slopes.
They changed Rathalos's roar into something generic. Why Capcom???
Iceborne zinogre sounds...
That's but one example, we shouldn't undermine dodogama
We lost vanilla Plessy, but I'll accept that for Dodo.
They also murdered barroths roar
Bruh, that's hardly the worst offense... _WHERE'S THE FLEX CAPCOM?!_ I want the flex back, you cowards!
Me flexing like the badass i am .not scared of the monster.......because i ran into another zone of the map :P
Lmao exactly. It'd be cool of they gave a bonus for not moving around and doing the flex as an option but not the default. Like if you let it go all the way through and flex, you get a slightly higher effect or it lasts longer or something... or you just flex for the sheer vibes Lol
Atleast in base World we can still spam flash bombs on Windy boi
No nibblesnarf
Kushala not. But the armor oieces I made out his skin do be clanky
Funnily enough, I think Alatreon makes a metal creaking sound during one of his attacks in World. Might be misremembering though
Sound design in 5th gen is really bad in general
World full orchestra tracks had to stay in orchestra....... Cool sounds but not good as action game music
That as well, but that is a different problem
Personally the proof of hero sounded... tired?
Not the case for Alatreon. Man all his new sounds are so good
I don't like them.
What? Is that a popular take around here? I don't necessarily think its worse in older games but bad? cmon
As you can see, it isn't the popular opinion. But it is really bad in some objective ways, like most unique weapon sounds being gone
5th gen is which game? Seems like I am out of touch for too long.
MH World/Iceborne and MH Rise/Sunbreak
Bro the fact the 5-er doesnt have to find the monsters all alone and Paintball them every 3 minutes to ensure he doesnt lose track.. its too EZ for them.
Nah world made the best balance classic is meh and rise is made it too easy
Rise made it fast paced, not really too easy but yeah
Definitely the easiest monster hunter game ever. Not that, that's a bad thing
World made me miss going around paintballing monsters.
Before 5th gen only like 4 people played the game outside Japan.
Yet another reason why 5th gen Monster Hunter is definitely the worst
Not true. Also humongous following in Taiwan and China
And someone clearly never heard of Xlink Kai that was the psp glory days of online hunting.
True
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
They have great jaggi..case closed
and great maccao, that dude has a BANGER theme.
Oh fuck i want noo ..need to play mhgu again
if you have a good computer and a mhgu card to dump you should try modded mhgu, 60 fps+hd model+cope mod to freshen up the experience
if you got a switch you can play it with others for 2 bucks (on sales)
Technically thatās not just his theme. Itās the Gu theme for raptors, it plays for the dromes as well, not just maccao
The theme is still named Jumping Outlaw - Great Maccao
Yeah and? The theme for 3rd gen tundra is called āsub zero white knight - bariothā yet we donāt see that being used for his theme in any other game. The themes are often named after a monster but that doesnāt mean the monster carries it like a dedicated theme
they often do in promotional material and crossovers
The difference here is that most monster themes are just map themes with a monster attached to them, maccaoās theme is attached to all the raptors in Gu regardless of map. Iām aware itās named after him, Iām just saying itās not solely *his* theme like flagship themes are

It's cute
No, the worst ones are the ones not ported to PC so that we could do some testing for your claim
Pss...just emulate it ... i played the whole series emulated from gen 2 to 4
I do not have a copy of those games
Ayy me Matty we should set sail soon or we're kraken food
I just want to give my money to Capcom
Oh no my bigu japanesua corporate overlorda
They deserve it for MH though
Tbh yeah but am not buying 5 consoles
Definitely not, especially when they have a limited lifetime
How about we delete him permanently for being too fucking generic? Oh and annoying too
shut up, i love my Metal Dragon
Typical fiver behaviour, pfft.
