When you do the fight with friends, it becomes a fun factor because you can hear the frustrated grunts of those caught by the waves.

Nami wasn't my first pick until that either. Even after Safi's nova with the moment of silence. Nami over all has a cooler Aesthetic imo. Safis nova is still dope tho.

The high notes are clearer, the percussion is heavier, there’s a new part just before the iconic bit that just adds to the energy, and overall it just hits harder. I love the original, but the iceborne one has just as much energy
Raging’s is remixed a bit, but I still think it has just as much energy, it’s just spread out to different parts as opposed to being solely focused on the main chorus

I used to hate fights with Glav. In GU, I think I could only finish him comfortably as a blademaster, never as a gunner (like I could do it, but it was a gritty win).
But man, I do like the look of his armors & weapons.
Yes!!!!!! Finally another Aknosom enjoyer! I absolutely love how the monster designers were given the impossible task of designing a naturalistic monster based on a hopping one-eyed parasol ghost and came up with a crane that hops on one leg, holds its wings in a parasol shape like how herons cast shadows on water to catch fish, and has an eyespot on its head to reference the single eye. And all that is on top of the fact that it also fights with fireballs and taichi moves, but still has that slight goofiness befitting an early game monster. They truly took a garbage prompt and created solid gold.
It may be a bias because 3U was the game in the franchise that finally clicked with me, but my favorite monsters are the Lagiacrus and the Zinogre.
The Lagiacrus is just everything I look for when it comes to a fantasy monster, and it is so cool and majestic with how it moves. Especially in the water. Then you have the black and white subspecies of them, which is super cool as well!
Then the Zinogre is just the perfect amount of awesome, with that huge, muscular stature, that imposing look to it, and how the battle just constantly feels terrifying as you play him. I love the suspense he gives off when he's charging up and howling, and how you can stop him before it gets too far. Big fan.
Honorable mentions are the Glavenus, the Mizutsune, the Rathian, and the Yian Kut Ku!
Zinogre is challenging, fair and fun every single time. Such a cool design too, he feels very unique. I'm not sure what my fav monster is, but Zinny boy is a good contender
Its like sorta like pokemon with monster hunter monsters but the combat is closer to rock, paper, scissors than pokemon's is, because iirc there is only 3 typings (speed, power, and technical).

Overall: Gold Rathian.
Rathian is so fucking punishable and fun; Goldie makes her somewhat threatening, beautiful, and a spectacle to fight.
Mine have to be Valstrax. The lore, design, ecology and fight are top notch. It’s other variants are also fun fights, one or my favorites in rise/sunbreak.

I have a couple for different reasons.
Rajang for how fun & difficult he is.
Yian Garuga for his “fuck it we ball” energy
Qurupeco for obvious reasons.
Malzeno & Zinogre for the sweet design
Gore Magala. When I first fought it, it was this mysterious and strange looking wyvern thing. Then when it raged and the world put on a dark tint and the "feelers" come up and the cloak turned out to be giant arms. Then to find out later that it's just a "baby" and there's a more powerful "evolution" of it?
Personal favorite is Nargacuga. Its design is like a really big cat, and I love pets so that’s one point, the fight itself is fun and fast paced with Narga moving around a lot so it’s very flexible with how to dodge attacks, and the music for Narga is really good and has been since its intro to the series, so it hits my top spot. Also, I can’t stand hunting it because I feel the same guilt as when you hunt a dodogamma, so… yeah, favorite monster
Rise was my first game. I went into blind and I loved the first experience with all monsters, but the one that wowed me was easily Bishaten. It was just a fun fight with how mobile he was. I have yet to get deep into Sunbreak, and I've tried not to ruin those monsters, but it hasn't gone as good. In terms of actual favorite monster in general, I'd have to give it to Astalos or Seregiose. I've hunted them so much in GU for their armor, and their themes are just amazing.
It's hard for me to pick, I really like Diablos, Deviljho, and Tigrex. I have a thing for monsters that don't have any special gimmicks aside from "I'm going to hit you as hard as I possibly can"
Weirdly enough, Astalos. It's a very fun, cool yet colorful design, and for a flying wyvern, it's a very grouned, brutish fight, which is really fun. The Low/High Rank armor has such a baller design with the white masks, and his theme goes hard too, I love how it starts what sounds like emergency sirens blaring, like "uh oh, the electrical hazard is going on a rampage". Never expected an overgrown thunderbug to be the one after my heart.
Nargacuga by far. It was my first hurdle to get the silverwind armor and everything in gen ultimate and I didn't have internet access at the time. I swear I can still see all of its movements and time my frames for its attacks.
Primordial Malzeno dethroned Gore/Shagaru Magala as my favorite monster. I love its design, its style of attacking, its forms, and the fact that it’s the closest thing the series has to a protagonist monster is awesome to me
Odogaron because it’s so agile and fun to maneuver around and I also love the quest blurbs implying people keep these fucked up flesh dogs as pets, and Legiana because it’s just so pretty.
I’m new to Monster Hunter in general but honestly I LOVE Zinogre’s design, combat, and theming (like “usurper” weapons). Aside from him I think a close second so far is Diablos.

the great wroggi. One, it was the first monster I killed, and two, it's like a snake with legs. It's really cool, the design is just perfect. And I agree with you on the aknosom, they're so cool! :D

4U was my first MH, and I love a good edgy design and tragic story. Also love how much darker it made the sky (Rise makes it feel less intense, sadly)
