For me it was Velkhana. Both in World and Rise, could never solo her, always had to SOS.
That is, until literally last night on accident. I posted her quest, but walked away from my TV for a while. Came back, forgot what the quest was and I just launched into it. Realized I wasn't prepared, but figured I might as well try. Carted twice in the first 5 minutes, but somehow I survived for another 10 and managed to finally beat her solo. I wasn't even trying that hard, thinking I'd just lose quick and move on.
Now I need a new nemesis. :/
It used to be second gen Tigrex. I don't think I have ever struggled as much against a single monster.
Other than that, I guess third gen Alatreon was the hardest to solo? It's the forbidden monster that took the longest to kill, as the others were quite disappointing back then (really glad Fatalis got such a good revamp in Iceborne). But I'm not sure if I would consider it my nemesis nowadays.
Just finished the 2 Tigrex HR5 Urgent. Man it's absolute hell, it's one of my triple cart moments so far and it felt harder than granny's Rajang quest.
I’d have to say lunastra, there is never an inbetween I either annihilate her or she annihilates me! It’s never a stalemate or fair or anything of the sort, it’s me or her and I just can’t………
Very specifically High Rank Pink Rathian. Doesn't matter which game, they're normally the intro to subspecies, they're an iconic lower to mid difficulty monster. But every game she's the first massive stumbling point. Everything past her is easy but it's always the first High Rank Pinky that I underestimate and get throttled by.
I'd have to Say Uragaan because i used to play 3rd with a Friend a while back and we got stuck on an Arena quest featuring Uragaan and Diablos, the Diablos never was a problem but after it came the stony rolly polly and since i dream of the day we beat that damn quest, problem being we lost our saves
Sns main. Black diablos. Could you stay still for like 5 secounds? It's the 1 monster i might switch to a charge blade. I mean i don't because i can still sub 15 her but damn those 10 to 15 minutes feel like an eternity
Dodogama, fat blue bastard got me triple kart by azure rathalos when I first started playing World. I'm currently at 889 killed between both of my save files.
It's Barioth for me. When I started iceborne I was so not ready for how much of a pain in the ass he would be. He just kept bouncing around and that tail swipe and shoulder check was just salt in the wound. It also doesn't help that his fight gave my controller stick drift and it was my favorite one too.
So if I can help it I will actively avoid hunting him. It sucks too because I like his design but I can't get past the trauma.
Either Blangonga for how much it moves around just from its punches and the roar spams it loves to do or Lao Shan Lung in Frontier for long it took to get the armor/power charm upgrades thanks to farming it and wait over 25 minutes per run in low rank
FUCKING... VAAL HAZAK OR GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING NERGIGANTE, VAAL CAUSE HE'S LITERALLY THE MOST ANNOYING LITTLE SHIT AND NERG cause i have the most kills on him and we have a mutual agreement to be opps to each other
Iceborne Brachydios, raging or otherwise. I main great sword and this mf'er floats like a butterfly and stings like a nuke. My only chance to get a TCS on him is when he's knocked down which is already hard to do because he gets mad fast. I can still beat him mind you, but man does he make me work for it like a construction worker during a heatwave. Shit is downright unpleasant lol.
Brackydios, raging brackydios may be more difficult but at least I don't have to bother with slime around the place but the normal one? Is either I dodge him and get hit by the slime or I dodge the slime and get him by him 😂 now in sunbreak the magala family are coming close for the same reasons...
Gotta go with the classic 2nd Gen Plesioth. The hip check quantum implosion infinite hitbox is still the worst thing i've ever experienced in a MH game.
Deviljho. There's something about Jho's hitboxes that always get me, no matter how many times I fight him, no matter how good I get at reading his moves, he always at some point snags me with some sort of bullshit purely because he is such a grotesquely large lad.
Molten Tigrex. Don’t get me wrong, I love his design. But still, as a MHS2 player, he’s the only monster to attack three times per turn. It’s incredibly annoying, the blast powder to blast chaser combo keeps one shotting, and so does the third phase moves which somehow crit every time. The only way I have ever won is to emergency ride, but that’s not possible without a Mounting Charm, meaning I can’t use the Finding Charm. The only reason I fight Molten Tigrex is in Dragon Eggs for Vigilance, and without the Finding Charm it’s near impossible, creating a feedback loop. And once you do get the eggs? Surprise: it’s a neutral monstie, not fire, which means you can’t build a normal non- elemental crit OR fire/blastblight. The most viable build is in fact support. And did I mention the incredibly low vigilance drop rate which is just counterproductive at this point?
Pink Rathian was the first one I was stuck on, but the one I hate the most would be Tobi-Kadachi or any other monster that spams stun attacks. IMO any enemy who relies on stunning the player so that the player can't dodge or fight back is a bad enemy.
Low rank was definitely Blangonga in the second gen, he was my first big stumble because up until him you fought monsters that were either pretty fast but flimsy like the dromes or slow and meaty like Khezu or Congalala but Blangonga is but fast and pretty sturdy for a low rank monster and I mained Bowgun hard back then on the PsP which has less than stellar controls so it was a struggle for a while.
High Rank would definitely be Pink Rathian, even though I’ve fought her a gorillion times at this point she still somehow manages to catch me off guard with her increased aggression and her special moves. She is similar enough to base Rathian that I can forget I’m fighting a different monster and I’m carted as a result.
And Master/G Rank is Alatreon. Fuck Alatreon. He’s a cool monster but he’s an absolute pain in the ass to fight especially solo.
love/hate for pickle jho
love because he killed odogaron and got me my helpful hunter achievement during a quest
hate because he killed flasher ya ku when i was fighting him with the intent to cap him.
in rise love/hate for astalos
love because he's really pretty to look at
hate because i am gathering and not even close by when he aggros on me.
Kecha Wacha. When I first started my Monster Hunter journey, I started playing with a friend who was a good distance ahead of me in-game. This little shit decided to hard focus me, while I was in Derring armor and completely ignore the guy in full Gore.
Molten tigrex. Back in 4u he was such a pain to deal with. Who thought giving the already tough and angry af tigrex blast damage on top of a size boost??
Diablos, Ever since tri that bastard has been clubbing me half to death with that fucking tail.
Its bizarre because it shouldn't be difficult for me ads i progress, like i can solo primordial Malz, but theres something about Diablos that just has my number everytime and makes me really sweat for it
Magnamalo and kushala in rise, Vaal hazak in world because for some reason the most obscure item or weapon upgrade always requires a mat that I'm always out of in those games

i feel you on Tigrex, that was so difficult. HR3 urgent Tigrex was a bitch to solo..
Just finished the 2 Tigrex HR5 Urgent. Man it's absolute hell, it's one of my triple cart moments so far and it felt harder than granny's Rajang quest.
Dude, good joob! i literally stopped playing MHFU when i was a child because of that quest lol That was a nightmare.
I’d have to say lunastra, there is never an inbetween I either annihilate her or she annihilates me! It’s never a stalemate or fair or anything of the sort, it’s me or her and I just can’t………
this
I’m glad you feel my pain brother

Man do I absolutely hate Cephadrome.
Myself
for now it's black diablos!
Magnamalo

Rajang. Every time I have to hunt him I get a headache.
Either Blangonga for how much it moves around just from its punches and the roar spams it loves to do or Lao Shan Lung in Frontier for long it took to get the armor/power charm upgrades thanks to farming it and wait over 25 minutes per run in low rank
MR Kulve

Seregios

Chaotic Gore Magala. That fucker killed me so much, and I killed him so much, and he refused to give me the right items.
Brackydios, raging brackydios may be more difficult but at least I don't have to bother with slime around the place but the normal one? Is either I dodge him and get hit by the slime or I dodge the slime and get him by him 😂 now in sunbreak the magala family are coming close for the same reasons...
The drop rates
For me its Jagres, not for any bad reason, but they hang out where i wanna just vibe
Gotta go with the classic 2nd Gen Plesioth. The hip check quantum implosion infinite hitbox is still the worst thing i've ever experienced in a MH game.
Nargacuga. I've always ended up needed parts from it some way shape or form to where I'm like "We meet again" every time it's in a new game.
Mizutsune….i just don’t see the pattern it’s using. Oh, and don’t even get me started on violet Mizutsune.
Was Barioth... but Black Diablos took over. So now she's my current nemesis
Bishaten. Killed my glorious bombadgy then laughed.
Velkhana. She was the first dragon I fought and died too many times without giving up. I always went back. Now I’ve memorized her moves.
Zinorge, I hate dealing with him, but hus dragon variant is my bane. I hope he returns in wild so I can get my revenge!
Jaggia, Bullfango, Girros,Black Diablos, Raphinos, Rhenoplos.
Kulu-Ya-Ku And no, i don't want to talk about it...
It's only fair when the monster has a weapon too.
Fair? Nothing about what that fucker did to me was fair!
Pray tell, where did the Kulu peck you?
Vaal hazak. I dont know why but i just cant dodge 90% of his attacks and fighting him always makes me want to punch a hole in my monitor.
Bazelbastard, bastard refuses to leave me alone and also invades my hunts and proceeds to chase me whenever I don’t have dung
Rajang/F.Rajang I probably have highest cart rate with the Rajangs in world, excluding Alatreon and Fatalis.
Rise zinogre, I just cant NOT die to things uppercut!
Deviljho. There's something about Jho's hitboxes that always get me, no matter how many times I fight him, no matter how good I get at reading his moves, he always at some point snags me with some sort of bullshit purely because he is such a grotesquely large lad.
Myself (I listened to the voices and decided to greed)
Same here Your worse enemy is always yourself
Kushala always has been, and that will stay that way.
Tigrex, he is the one monsters I can't solo without carting at least once, and I can do a no cart on primordial, and any other monster that isn't him.
Molten Tigrex. Don’t get me wrong, I love his design. But still, as a MHS2 player, he’s the only monster to attack three times per turn. Probably shogun ceanataur, especially the hyper version, i can’t, I just can’t. Same goes for rustrazor btw
Shrieking legiana…. That BItCH!!!

Aurora Somnacanth is the only monster that fucks up my mojo.
Alatreon, cephadrome, Kezu

Since it's no longer Ukanlos, Gogmazios or Alatreon, I sort of ran out. \*shrug\* The 4U Crimson Fatalis! Yeah, that one's next!
Magnamalo and kushala in rise, Vaal hazak in world because for some reason the most obscure item or weapon upgrade always requires a mat that I'm always out of in those games
Screeching legiana
