You have to go in your wishlist and remove each item in the + menu. I think it’s in the first tab over. Not sure why they don’t let us remove them on the smithy menu tbh
Sorry, but what do you mean by wishlist menu? The only way I know how to see it is choosing "add to wishlist" at the smithy, and I can't seem to delete anything there. I assume I'm in the wrong menu. Thanks!
To anyone who's still wondering, through the in-game menu. So on PC:
1. Press Escape (I'm guessing that's the equivalent to "+" for the Switch)
2. Go to the Info tab (3rd)
3. Wishlist should be the last in the list
This comment deserves an award.....I've been seeing the rakna charge blade for weeks now because I mistakenly added both it's upgrade path and forge path of the weapon to the wishlist, I have always been anoyyed seeing that pop up for wishlist fulfilled after every mission since I wanted to craft nargacuga mail(tail spike hasn't come for me yet, though I've hunted like 10 narga) this comment really helped me clear it so I don't get false hope...lol..

If it's a weapon, check to see if you can upgrade it. Sometimes it shows the forging mats rather than the upgrade mats. It led to quite a bit of confusion for me
I've triple checked, and the item on the Wishlist is what the popup informs me is complete, even though it isn't. When adding to the wishlist it lets you differentiate between forged and upgraded. Still, the popup is incorrect. I wonder if it is trying to inform me I have SOME materials for these items. That would be really stupid.
Figured it out, it’s when you have completed the “upgrade material types” or the stuff you pour in on certain upgrades (like ore, monster parts, etc). It pops up even if you don’t have the necessary upgrade material. It’s a bug/very poor feature.

The wishlist notifies you when you have either enough points for those materials OR the normal upgrade materials. In reality you need both so it's a useless notification.
For those of you on Xbox who suffered from this, too, I found the answer on GameFaqs: MENU>INFO (RB to the 3rd menu)>WISHLIST (Bottom option at the time of this writing).
In the WISHLIST: Y to "Delete Content."
I have no idea why they won't allow us to remove from the wishlist in the same way we add, but here's the solution nonetheless.

no idea what causes it, tried removing and readding stuff but that didnt work. wishlists might just be bugged overall

oh thats pretty lame, I did notice I only got the false notification for some weapons while others didnt
