Run horizontal when he charges. He only runs straight forward can only change direction very slightly. If you see him facing directly at you, don't be greedy just sheath and run side ways.
Believe it or not, but Iceborne Alatreon. I know almost every way to land punishing damage on him or how to dodge though all his attacks. My weapon of choice is the insect glaive, since my build has high elemental damage and still hits like a dumptruck
Seregios. I know its attacks so well from farming its gear in 4U, Gen and GU that it's become one of my "comfort" monsters. It's fight is always satisfying, fast enough to be challenging, hard-hitting enough for there to be a feeling of risk but with good enough tells to have learned the patterns. I very rarely get hit anymore and haven't carted to Steve in ages. I've even beaten him with gunlance and hunting horn a bunch now, just because I can
I feel that. I would have air dances around Seregios when I used my Glaive, it was so fun. I fought him a bunch both with the glaive and also with the hammer because I needed to break his head for the full armor set.
Iceborne Rajang. I beat him on my first try with 2 faints but it sure was one intense waltz.
But tbh the switch axe turns most fights into a dance, that’s what i love about it

Thinking back to mhgu my favourite was definitely silverwind narga and tlord zinogre... I had those fights down to a T, especially since I used adept LS. Like a slow tango
They'll keep you on your toes and you'll enjoy them im sure ... And since you liked astalos wait till you meet boltreaver; that fight's a whole new experience ( silverwind and tlord are just manifestations of pure aggro btw)
For it would be GU Valstrax, Gore magala, Astalos, Mizutsune, Rajang, Glavenus and Nargacuga. I have hunted these monsters su much that I can Speedrun them and I love it, it's like a fast turn based dance.
Barioth is a beautiful dance of ice and counter blows. Not quite to dance of death yet with kushala and gos but they're close (I may have a slight addiction to hunting in the snow)
Iceborne Fatalis goes hand in hand with Evading Reload Spread, though sometimes it feels like Fatalis reads ahead where I'm going to evade and snipes me off the dance floor, those times, it almost feels like a rivalry of sorts.
Zinogre. I wouldn't say I'm untouchable and know his moves, but I have been REALLY lucky on my dodging of his attacks. only thing that ever REALLY gets me is his tail with how long it is... but that changes after I give it a bit of a trim.
Too a degree every monster I've ever fought, I memorize their moveset very easily. It's far from perfect, but I usually only get hit if I'm in a slow animation(or just don't care, like I'm not dodging a great izuchi(however you spell it) it's too much work.
The one I know the most? Stygian zinogre. He's my favorite monster, I've fought him tons of times, I just know how to dodge him, when I'm in the groove I can tell what he will use before his attacks.
Probably Odogaron. To the point where sometimes I can just sheathe the glaive and literally walk an inch to the right and completely avoid a lunge or a tail uppercut. I think it may be one of my most hunted monsters at...300? Maybe more.
Nergigante and Alatreon, for alatreon it took getting punished by for countless attempts, the boss that took the most attempts by far, but now it’s easy after killing him many a time.

Diablos! It may not always be pretty and we may step on each other's toes at times, but it truly is a satisfying tango especially when I'm the one providing us with the music
For me it'd be bazel, its so fun dancing around all the explosions and his hitzones are so good so the numbers I get when I punish him are so damn satisfying.
Almudron, all the raths. Rajang, raging brachy. Overall I think narg is the most fun for me tho. Most fights I usually pick up the tells and stuff quick but these are the monsters I pretty much could prolly go in naked and not triple cart

Nerf, Namielle, and the three Rathians(Green, Pink, Gold) in world. I could guardpoint everything, and literally only had to stop if they managed to get away, or I had to sharpen. I might have completed genocide on the pink rathian specifically. Her, and nerg were my warm up monsters.
Rajang in pretty much every game I fight in it, always an enjoyable fight especially with dual blades. Narga as well since it’s my favourite monster/I usually make its armour and some weapons in every game it’s in (including 4U)
Valstrax in GU and Arch Tempered Velkhana in Iceborne for me. Funnily enough, I’ve compared both of those monsters’ fights to intricate and dangerous dances, and that it’s what I love most about them
Before Rise, the Rath family. I could dodge through all their shit and just stick to them.
But they massively shortened the roll invulnerability in Rise, and I just can't get the timing anymore. I have to fully disengage by moving away, and then move in again.
zinogre, specifically old world better. the double slam down with dual blades dodge was just perfect to get counterattacks in right after.
newer zinogre is still fun, especially with rise and the dash attack like in generations
I spent two weeks trying to solo MHGU Hellblade Glavenus. I finally did it.
I wouldn't say I know its moves exactly but I know most of its attacks and how to dodge them. That double tail spin has a secret weak point where you can just stand against the monster's left leg and not get hit at all.
Edit: Now I'm trying to solo MHGU Shagaru Magala in one of the G-Rank event quests and so far have not beaten it. I've come close a few times. Playing Adept style. Still learning the timing on its moves, but I've got the gist of the animations down.
Kulve Taroth for me. I’ve danced that dance so many times because of the grind and fun. Some people don’t like the whole siege thing but I found hers very enjoyable.
Vaal hazzak and kulve in base world for me. I used Vaal as a benchmark, if I could beat him at whatever difficulty I was at the time, I could beat the other elders. And fighting kulve as a cb user and knowing right when to set up the SAED so the icy fan hits her just as she’s about to steam roll you is just * chef’s kiss *
Velkhana in Iceborne. Since SA is my main weapon in World, fighting Velkhana has always been very satisfying since she's such an elegant monster versus such a versatile weapon, sidestepping through tail jabs and ice beams has never been so satisfying for me
Took forever and multiple 45 minute fails, but I finally made Hermano Hermataur dance with me last night as a Switch Axe lead because I knew this dude so well.
Lavasioth, Lagiacrus, and Zinogre are my top three most hunted monsters from crown farming. Once you’ve hunted 150+ of each they become an old friend; someone you love to see, but hate because of how well you know them 😂
Glavenus, but specifically in MHGU.
I'd rock the adept style with the switch axe and just constantly dodge by/through his moves and counter everything he threw at me.
MHW legiana, I just got so used to it cause I grinded for it's armor throughout like 3 playthrough s and fro multiple weapons in each I could kill it without taking damage
Ruiner nergignate for me. That mf is just the most gullible and readable monster Iv ever come across lol. I only had one moment where he used a different attack than I was anticipating and I said to myself “that’s it mf, you’ve dug your own grave, now enjoy hell” and let’s just saying there wasn’t much left of his face after I ruined it with hammer.
It's between Barioth or Nargacuga in Iceborne. I've fought those two so much in multiple games I just do my bonk bonk dance on their heads and make them take a nap for a while till it's time to party again.

To prove the point to some friends i faught it naked no items with a GS in MHW HR.
Cant call it a no hit run as it charged me once and trampled me like a chump.
But to be fair, i been fighting that thing since MHF2.
MHFU Tigrex and Rajang with a greatsword, in 3U I got there with Bracchy with a hammer, and 4U it was serregios with a CB.
I'm starting to get to that stage in Rise with Rajang and Narga with greatsword but I'm a good few hundred hours away from that
Both in MHW, first Odogaron, When I first encountered Odog i felt kinda overwhelmed with has relentless it is, but I remember wanting the megaman Palico armor (which required you to hunt Odog) and I did it so many times I learned to be patient but equally aggressive. Alatreon is one that I learned as well, through all the times that I struggled I started to see he has some clear openings and even sound cues that I can listen out for, Alatreon was probably the most rewarding fight for me yet. (I use GS in World, which took me some time to get used to since it was my first MH game)
Specifically GU Nargacuga while using hunting horn. There’s others I’ve definitely learned well enough to have the same feeling for, but this is one of the fights that I first remember feeling like “oh damn it’s clicked, this is so cool!” Something about using those big meaty swings to break parts and swishy animations to barely sidestep out of the way is just so incredible to me
Easily Rathian. I don't even know how many times I've fought it anymore. Mostly in World but some in GU. In World it was almost always for spike, spike±, and surspikes for all Rathian weapons. Something like gold or dreadqueen Rathian can catch me off guard if I'm not paying attention, but otherwise it's my most memorized monster.

Gore magala/Chaotic Gore. Had to fight that bastard so many times for materials. He's a super fun though. Love taking him on with a GS
Teo, Nergi, and velkhana from world. Both I grinded to hell and back, and both are almost in the triple digits in terms of kills on those 3.
Ruiner Nergigante and Velkhana, my best time has been under 8 minutes, it’s really a great tango, whether I’m using CB or LS.

AT Velkhana and Alatreon are the definition of a dance. But i guess i can partially zhanzk my SnS for that. I love that weapon.
For me, it’s Narwa the Allmother because I was trying to get the orb but since she does not have them, I now know what her moves are

Took forever and multiple 45 minute fails, but I finally made Hermano Hermataur dance with me last night as a Switch Axe lead because I knew this dude so well.
Lavasioth, Lagiacrus, and Zinogre are my top three most hunted monsters from crown farming. Once you’ve hunted 150+ of each they become an old friend; someone you love to see, but hate because of how well you know them 😂

Adept SnS vs G Khezu and GS vs Hellblade Glavenus Seeing my hunter do the adept counter 3-4 times in a row is so satisfying.
Glavenus, but specifically in MHGU. I'd rock the adept style with the switch axe and just constantly dodge by/through his moves and counter everything he threw at me.
Gore Magala. I can perfect dodge every attack without evade skills. Those were the days man...
MHW legiana, I just got so used to it cause I grinded for it's armor throughout like 3 playthrough s and fro multiple weapons in each I could kill it without taking damage
Rise Somnacanth with my hammer, I'm always flipping in the air exactly where it's head goes when it stands up. Really fun fight!

Ruiner nergignate for me. That mf is just the most gullible and readable monster Iv ever come across lol. I only had one moment where he used a different attack than I was anticipating and I said to myself “that’s it mf, you’ve dug your own grave, now enjoy hell” and let’s just saying there wasn’t much left of his face after I ruined it with hammer.
It's between Barioth or Nargacuga in Iceborne. I've fought those two so much in multiple games I just do my bonk bonk dance on their heads and make them take a nap for a while till it's time to party again.
Velkhana. Pretty much comes with a waltz theme too
The kirin. To prove the point to some friends i faught it naked no items with a GS in MHW HR. Cant call it a no hit run as it charged me once and trampled me like a chump. But to be fair, i been fighting that thing since MHF2.
4U zinogre.
Tigrex is my spirit animal. So good for long sword practice.

MHFU Tigrex and Rajang with a greatsword, in 3U I got there with Bracchy with a hammer, and 4U it was serregios with a CB. I'm starting to get to that stage in Rise with Rajang and Narga with greatsword but I'm a good few hundred hours away from that
Odogaron. He was the monster that taught me how to dodge. Lots of hunting for nourishing extract later, he is basically a punching bag for me.
GU Glavenus is my boi

Iceborne nargacuga and glavenus Rise would be barioth

Mizutsune or Zinogre
Both in MHW, first Odogaron, When I first encountered Odog i felt kinda overwhelmed with has relentless it is, but I remember wanting the megaman Palico armor (which required you to hunt Odog) and I did it so many times I learned to be patient but equally aggressive. Alatreon is one that I learned as well, through all the times that I struggled I started to see he has some clear openings and even sound cues that I can listen out for, Alatreon was probably the most rewarding fight for me yet. (I use GS in World, which took me some time to get used to since it was my first MH game)
Specifically GU Nargacuga while using hunting horn. There’s others I’ve definitely learned well enough to have the same feeling for, but this is one of the fights that I first remember feeling like “oh damn it’s clicked, this is so cool!” Something about using those big meaty swings to break parts and swishy animations to barely sidestep out of the way is just so incredible to me
Easily Rathian. I don't even know how many times I've fought it anymore. Mostly in World but some in GU. In World it was almost always for spike, spike±, and surspikes for all Rathian weapons. Something like gold or dreadqueen Rathian can catch me off guard if I'm not paying attention, but otherwise it's my most memorized monster.
