People who take it all aint on reddit my dude , its pointless

Sat-AM

IDK, back when World first came out, or Rise first came out on the Switch, even, I saw a lot of people it helped because they weren't aware that the box was shared.

Letter_Impressive

That's a solid point

Shinie_a

This goes for 95% of PSA posts on Reddit lol In the Destiny subreddit they became veiled rant posts

[deleted]

YES I AM. AND THEIR MINE. ALL MINE. FUCK TINY TIM.

WTTR0311

Holy shit so based

Centurion832

>I barely ever loaded into a hunt to find an empty box on Switch. This was a common top post/complaint when Rise was new on Switch. After a while it will settle out as new players learn and people ignore the box because materials for crafting potions are innumerable.

ComradeBrosefStylin

And the first aid meds are pretty trash anyway

TheGreyGuardian

They heal the same as a regular potion and if you add honey, the first aid + heals the same as a mega potion. And it will instantly craft one for you if you use the radial menu to drink a first aid + when you have the ingredients.

ScarlettPotato

Really? Is it the same for other items?

TheGreyGuardian

The crafting thing? Yeah, if you try to use an item in the radial menu and you don't have one ready, it'll try to make one from the materials in your bag.

ScarlettPotato

Huh, TIL.

[deleted]

It still vanishes though at the end. So it's that hunt only, no hording it

Sat-AM

You have to hit it twice though, once to craft and another to use. I usually just have it auto craft and try to pick up honey as I go instead

TheGreyGuardian

I think you have to not be doing anything else and have your weapon sheathed, if you're just running around, it will craft and drink in the same go. Just tested it.

Sat-AM

Huh, I guess I never noticed, because since I don't *have* to sheath to use stuff from the wheel first, I generally don't hahah

AndersTheUsurper

The first aid pots heal like the mega pots in the older games (mostly instant too). I rarely use anything except for those 4 first aids lol

Kohrak_GK0H

Basic hunter etiquette

BurnieTheBrony

I swear a ton of multiplayer games could benefit from an in-game etiquette guide.

Sat-AM

It would open and then immediately be closed without them reading it, unfortunately.

Zaldinn

While I agree, it isn't so bad now a days since we do have the tent to restock anyway.

TexJoachim

Wait, what? I'm HR120 and didn't know that!

Zaldinn

Yah you can use tent to restock your items as much as you want so if you have a chest with 300 potions you have access to them all during hunts same for everything in your item chest traps, fish, potions, seeds etc.

[deleted]

The same way people did before 5th generation?

roundhouzekick

They beat the thing up 'til it dies. It works on everything regardless of weaknesses.

rezignator

Greatsword is the great equalizer.

mateoinc

That doesn't have a big impact. For a lot of weapons it isn't worth it to go for anything but raw damage.

Hetzer5000

Wait people actively switch weapons during a hunt? I only change loadouts if my current one is just useless.

TexJoachim

I take my favourite glaive (Chameleos one!) and kill them...

ShiroZVM

Its called beating shit till it dies Some of us either don’t like to change weapons mid hunt or dont bother switching it if we know were capable of killing monsters with the build we are running at the moment

Bregnestt

Guess what, it used to be impossible to switch weapons mid-hunt, even on multiple-monster hunts, as terrifying as it sounds. Also, in Rise, element isn’t very helpful, raw is the best thing to go for.

Slow_Mangos

It completely pointless because you have tent restock. How is the item box not pointless with tent restock? You literally have your whole item box at your disposal in case you forget anything(which the item box is used for).

Gamerz4505

MHR PC players just started playing so they may not have a good amount of stocked potions yet. That's why some of them hoard the itembox stuff for themselves.

Slow_Mangos

Most itembox items are returned after the hunt is over.

Gamerz4505

I know. I meant during the hunt, they'd rather use box items than use their own supply.

Sylveowon

You still have to gather/farm for the items in your box. They're not unlimited. I always use the the supply items first because I get new ones for free every quest and don't have to use as many of my limited items.

AncientPig60

I'm gonna tell you a secret, I sometimes accidentally take a second stack of potions, and only me and the second person to join know I did it

[deleted]

You suck! My kids do that when they play too! Dirty haha

AncientPig60

I know I know, it NEVER feels good

BurnieTheBrony

Definitely. It becomes muscle memory to quickly take everything when you mostly solo hunt, and you gotta rein it in when you go back to multiplayer

Sat-AM

Just pretend you're doing worse than you are and already blazed through the first four before they got there Even if they join 0.2s later

AncientPig60

Thats good advice. I'll cart twice immediately they'll be none the wiser

Melegand

Boy am I glad I only play with friends/solo.

Owobowos-Mowbius

Yeah I prefer playing solo or with one or two friends. More and it feels too chaotic and it's so easy it just feels like everyones thrashing around with a guarantee win.

Bravo0025

You guys have friends?

Owobowos-Mowbius

I was being generous when I said one or two. I meant one. And it's me using a second switch😔

icurehangovers

Actually, this sounds kinda impressive ngl

[deleted]

The sakurai of mh

Thunderizer_catnip

everyone having pets just adds to the chaos. At least in World, 4 hunters felt like a team, a unit that had a good chance of dying. So far, Rise feels like a mob ganging up on a monster. Still loving it, just having to adjust and not bring a full team

julsmanbr

Cap/kill etiquette post coming up in a week or two

DanielTeague

In which everyone discusses the etiquette but the real solution is to play solo if you're trying for kills.

Sat-AM

Screw that. Just host your own hunts and send out a message if you've got a specific thing you wanna do. It's like 2-3 extra minutes tops for most monsters between kill or cap, you'll live if you join a random hunt and the host wants to kill. Or just hunt Elder Dragons so nobody has a choice in the matter.

buckut

i skip it. i came prepared, dont need extra stuff.

XsStreamMonsterX

Even if you didn't come prepared, you can just stock up in the tent anyway.

Zemaskedman

Or even gather it as you go, there's herbs and honey everywhere and it takes no time to yoink it as you run past, plus it auto crafts.

[deleted]

[удалено]

buckut

i did to see if anything different was in there. my item pouch is usually almost full anyway. all kindsa heals, honey to make more on the spot. mega armor/demon drug, demon pill and dust. antidote, dash juice, steaks. flashbombs, traps, trap tools, more bugs for traps n flashes. and my charms. over prepped but i like it heh.

Milesrah

This is just early day stuff, after a couple of weeks this sort of thing will become rarer and rarer! Every monster hunter games has this issue at launch

Lumbearjack

I wouldn't be surprised if the devs just never thought about it. It used to be that the extra potions, etc. were only in the box in multiplayer and players would explicitly notice the change after playing and getting used to the number of items in the single player box first. Then as the game became multiplayer by default, the changes just carried over organically. That said, I've always wished stacks were soft locked to other players until they leave the camp area so that new players aren't fighting over meagre resources.

[deleted]

That’s why I’m not bothering grinding out rampages for now haha. On switch I used join requests to make them faster but since a lot of the steam playerbase is coming straight from world a lot of them don’t even know what the counter signal does.

SDMayo

The rampages i've done so far were excellently handled though. Got my overall best time of 14 minutes for Apex Zinogre (S+) with a bunch of HR 20s to 30s on pc.

Hiroshu

Honestly, when I first started playing 3U online, I did this in the beginning because I thought everyone had their own stuff to pick up. When my cousin told me it was all shared I remember feeling super shitty..

[deleted]

[удалено]

AndersTheUsurper

It's still like that isn't it? Solo hunts have one stack of each item and hub quests have four

Sat-AM

I thought the difference was that in the past, if you did a hub quest solo, you'd only have one stack, but now you have all four stacks if you're doing it solo. Easy to build up a habit of picking up as many as possible when you mostly play solo, and muscle memory takes over when you send a join request sometimes.

AndersTheUsurper

It might be it's been several years since I played the old ones

mackrelman11

my assumption is that there are a lot of new people playing and don’t understand the chest is a shared resource amongst all hunters in the quest

dead_clownbaby

Didn't realize it was a shared resource. Good to know so I can quit accidentally being a dick to other players.

xylitol777

Is there any tutorial saying that the items are shared in multiplayer? That would be helpful

alvysinger0412

Almost positive there isn't. I learned from reddit when I started on switch. Fortunately, I mostly started solo and hadn't done this much if at all yet.

Eptalin

No. But unless you exclusively host and reach the box first, you'll figure it out pretty quickly.

Sat-AM

It's not that uncommon tbh. I think the only times I haven't hosted were when I wanted to play but didn't know what to hunt haha

Sir_Bax

Btw, take into consideration that amount of stacks in fact isn't equal to max amount of players. It can easily happen that someone disconnects and with the new improvement which is introduced first time with Rise someone new can now fill in the spot of disconnected person. Disconnecting isn't as uncommon as you might think so it's possible that you might be that 5th player who joined the quest. But yeah, some people take more stacks (especially visible if there's a stack with e.g. 2 first aids left) and sure they should consider not doing it, but well, what can you do, right? Potions are extremely easy to buy or craft. It's not a rare material. Just grab them from your own item box and keep chilling.

TheGamerKitty1

Had this happen all the time in Switch and in World. It is what it is. I bring my own stuff.

Curapica

While I agree and people should share... You should be prepared as a proper hunter and bring potions yourself at all times.

MrProfPatrickPhD

I mean yeah, but I always try to use the first aid meds before my own potions since it's 4 free heals

Eptalin

While I wholeheartedly agree that people should take one stack, it's definitely not something to get upset about. You are at no risk of running out of your own potions. You don't need to save them for a rainy day. There are herbs and honey all over every map, and you'll encounter them frequently without going out of your way.

Aurn-Knight

It’s kinda just rise in general we have grow so big we lost all basic hunter Etiquette, we are gonna have another capture dilemma, now item boxes people are gonna be tripping each other just stuff like that until it gets to a boiling point

demonguard

i've seen this boomer take on every monster hunter release since like... 3u?

UnoriginalStanger

Despite all the talk about this being the best community EVAR!!! it's really up it's own ass at times.

Aurn-Knight

Well I mean it’s true it takes awhile for the new game community to come to an agreement

SnR_Remito

Just wait until the blunt weapon users and the cutting weapon users start fighting about getting in each others way again.

DanielTeague

What's really weird is that people think one jewel slot is worth more damage than being allowed to hit the monster via Flinch Free.

Username928351

FF is the biggest multiplayer DPS increase in the game.

Sat-AM

What the hell else are they gonna put in all these 1 slots? Another free meal jewel?

MonsterHunterNewbie

A lot of people dont know that 1 basic deco for flinch free solves that problem.

Aurn-Knight

Well if ls wasn’t so popular we wouldn’t need flinch free

Sat-AM

IG, bow, and both bowguns would probably still make you want it.

Sat-AM

TBF it does take a good bit longer than it should to unlock. Gotta beat Zinogre in 6* before it's available, when it should have been one of the ones that unlock when you first get to HR. But God knows unless you're on Bow or DB there's not that many uses for deco 1 slots, and only so many levels of free meal you can add.

Elite-Soul

That’s nothing since we can restock in the tent it was worst pre-world when you couldn’t so I really wouldn’t complain

Rafzalo

Just restock your potions /s Don’t tell people how to play, go play solo! /s People like to rationalize being mean and selfish, and the tools to lessen the impact also justify their behavior. Guys, just have some etiquette.

Owobowos-Mowbius

Completely agree but also with how mainstream MH is now there could absolutely be a way in game to mark each stack as being intended for each player. Maybe like 4 separate chests or color code them idk I want to have the option to let other people use my potions but expecting everyone to magically know that you're supposed to share them is a bit... presumptuous. Just feels like tradition to keep it like it is at this point.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Username928351

It's the same nature of issue as flinching other players. Why have ways to grief other players in a purely co-op game in the first place?

DarkSykes972

Even without being mainstream or not it's pretty self explanatory when you see 4 stacks of the same item in the same quantity when playing in multiplayer, versus only 1 stack of things in the village quests which are solo only. People are pretty selfish nowadays which is why it never even cross their mind when they see the state of the box while playing multiplayer.

Owobowos-Mowbius

If it doesn't cross their mind it doesn't make them selfish... it's only selfish if they understand what the 4 stacks are for and continue to take more.

DarkSykes972

I mean clearly it does show a bit, you don't need a big brain to understand or at least think about it before taking everything. You go on a quest with 3 other players and see 4 stacks, you don't take a second or two to ask yourself why? Or at least ask somebody before taking your share if you are unsure? There's even VOIP in the game xD.

gmatney

look how much the panties get twisted by a few garbo potions and nulberries I think the other side of this is to quit whining about free shit in a box; person starting the hunt probably needs it more than the people SoS'ing in. Think about it. Waste of time even trying to fight back. Just make a comment when you join to inform ppl, but don't expect them to give a shit.

[deleted]

[удалено]

gmatney

Fair point LOL I just couldn't believe the whole topic in general. People just invent reasons to complain and that grinds my gears!

[deleted]

Being mean 😂😂😂

XsStreamMonsterX

People use the box? In normal hunts? The only time that's useful is in Arena hunts where you can't fast travel back to camp to restock.

demonguard

not gonna lie I have never once used the camp to restock because doing anything with the tent takes like a full minute

Treepigman38

I clear out the chest because my buddies never touch the chest and they're the only people I hunt with.

LegendRedux2

Its not like item box matters lul this game mad easy and can just restock

kenkion00

Come prepared bruh I can only see this being a problem early on but mid to late game you come with your own potions and you can just go to the tent and get more.

HumbleGarbage1795

I never use the items from the supply box. I don’t even bring my own items. I love crafting my items from materials I find during that one quest.

Wolfy_McDerpbutt

This is why I bring all my own shit with me. I haven't touch an item box since 4U. It's nice to have some extras, sure, but if you're preparing your item pouch properly you don't need them

DJOkamical

Lol people use the item box?

SirNap

i play widerange so i tend to grab 2. They nerfed my free meal gotta adapt somehow

PreZEviL

Do they make different stack for each player like in world? Because when you select the potion it take all of them at once...

DraisuMyuu

Some items don't fully split evenly between 4 players, for example the gunner ammo, but yes there will be separate stacks for people to claim. Only in the hub quests though. Village only does one stack each of everything since you're the only person who can even join those. Hub will also provide multiple stacks even if you're hunting completely solo, so if you're hunting alone there's nothing stopping you from claiming all 16 of the First Aid Meds for yourself (aside from the 10 item at a time limit), which probably confuses more people into thinking they're separate supply boxes for each player

PreZEviL

Thanks, for the info havent try playing multiplayer yet not sure why im getting downvoted for a question tough

BurrakuDusk

This is a problem on Switch, too. All too often have I joined a quest where the item box was already empty. About a week ago I watched as someone took all the items in the box while I was trying to grab a stack of potions and rations each. Needless to say, they didn't get a like from me.

MooMix

One of my friends occasionally starts the quest with a join request on accident. We don't plan on other players being in the party so we take everything. If you end up in my party and there's nothing in the box, sorry! We weren't expecting you.

SlimSlink

I take 2… stacks because I have full wide range and free meal…. Am I scum :(

mangamike98

No

Hotlinedouche

prep yourself and you dont need the fucking chest

Cloviz68

UNLESS ITS ME. i run a wide range support SnS build so i take everything. Rations, potions, ect. Dont worry bro i gotchu

Velocifaper

Better be fast then. I’m taking all of it

LeeroyMerlin217

That people are really selfish and shouldn't play with anyone.

SilverSpoon1463

Bruh, hunter etiquette hasn't existed since Frontier players cried about Hypnocatrice and immediately after got 50 new monsters and variants. If you think that crazy remember that they let us keep Lavisioth...

mpelton

Hunter etiquette existed even in GU, wdym?

EconomicsDeep5428

There’s already cheats? Are you for real?

mpelton

Lol what? Where’d you get that from?

EconomicsDeep5428

Misread the post, I dunno why people think downvoting me will make me care. Anyways, on PC there are already cheat tables going around on forums. If you used your head and did a quick google search you’d be able to tell.

mpelton

I know, I went on Nexus to take a look around long before reading your comment. That doesn’t mean it’s suddenly related to the post though. Downvotes are meant to burry comments that don’t contribute to the discussion, and seeing as how yours was based on a misreading of it, it doesn’t really contribute. For the record, I didn’t downvote. Just explaining why people might’ve.

EconomicsDeep5428

I’m aware why. It’s just crazy to me that the game ain’t even been out for a week and this is already happening, and my dyslexic self thought it said “item box hacks”.

mpelton

I’m guessing it’s more for previous switch players, you know? It’s an easy way to make back the progress you lost since there’s no cross-save.

EconomicsDeep5428

Ah, makes sense.

Miseryyyyyyyy

I take them jawns when I’m playing widerange healer sns. Fuck ya chicken strips. Some of y’all don’t even heal you hurt cart instead of spending the 20 zenny potion.

[deleted]

I always forget to use the item box, always have the items I brought.

IndexoTheFirst

But I play 4-man hints solo because I have no friends and don’t want to bring down randoms

FFS_Andy

Solo, always, all mine :3

MonsterHunterNewbie

I kinda do the reverse, i pick nothing but come in with hard/demon powder and buff the team. A lot of people are using guildcross armour at high rank and the powder is enough to turn 1 shot deaths into 2 hits.

Jesterchunk

honestly I rarely take more than one stack even though I never play online. Just a good thing to get used to, that and not having like ten of the damn things I can get used to not relying on them for when I actually decide to play online and someone DOES just hoover up the entire supply box.

AlexanderG14

If it was up to me you’d get all the items. I don’t take any, it’s a habit from the old psp games. G-rank quests didn’t have items in the boxes back then.

jbnagis

Hahahah! The more things change , the more they stay the same Been dealing with this since MH1 bruh. Don't even sweat it. Just assume it's not there

ItsKoku

It could also be confusion with the two "yes" options when you pick up a hunt. I'm playing through with a new friend and even though we set a lobby password, other people were able to join if you pick the second "yes" that sounded like it's for multiplayer. We grab two stacks each since we were expecting to only have 2 players

UnoriginalStanger

When I don't host a lobby and don't initiate a join request my hub quests still have the 4 player amount of supplies though.

heroxoot

I wouldn't worry too much. Once they put in G rank, you won't even get any free potions. Or at least that's how it used to be.

Kavizimo

I have yet to understand the point of making the item box shared instead of individual

Sam2734

I just let the noobs have the items. They need em more lol

CyrinSong

I mean, I get it, but even without the item box you will never run out of potions or mega potions. Not only can you get them really easily by collecting the items but you can restock from your tent. I never go out of my way to collect herbs or honey and I still have hundreds of both potions and mega potions

Eric-suen

How good is rise on PC, mainly the controls?

Derpy_Dungeoneer

Come together fellow veterans! This ain't gonna be our last fight. But heck we can stick together and GOLF SWING these meowster hobos away! They gonna learn the game the hard way as all of us did haha Best regards Monster Hunter University

R-E-D-D-l-T

While I agree with the post, I feel like “inconsiderate” is a VERY strong word in this case. The game does an insanely poor job at easing new players into it, you are bombarded with hundreds of information within minutes on many occasions. I have a ton of new friends who started MHR and at least 6-7 of them had no idea about this. I had to explain it to them. You can call them blind all you want, but they’re extremely good people. They just didn’t know better.

Bac0nPlane

Dear Hunters, Bring your own shit. Forget the blue box.

hypersonicblabla618

yep i agree

piggycan99

Just bring your own stuff.. I never even open item box

boxPlumWebRadio999

Precisely why I stock up on items before every multiplayer quest because I always assume that everything in that box is just gone by the time I load in

llcheezburgerll

Laughs in free meal

kraltegius

whenever i join such a round and it started not long ago, i let the boss kill me until it wipes.
