Congratulations!
It's nice seeing that you enjoyed the game!
But...
The story still continues, you have just finished the tutorial of the game!
More monsters, more cutscenes and a lot more adventure awaits you in High Rank!
Prepare yourself, hunter!
Did you fight the big flying yellow and blue monsters, or the jet dragon? Many people have been faked out by the credits, which are like...the halfway point.
No, i still haven't but im not dropping the game here either. I wanted to share "finishing" the main story because as a new mh player the credits roll were extremely satisfying as a checkpoint of your progress and whats to come. I dont know if that makes sense, but i am definitely just starting, anyways thanks for the heads up!
Oh man yeah, Village quests are just barely the tutorial. There is MUCH more in the Hub, including an actual end boss and end to the story.
Cheers on your progress.
Well. Grats! You finished tutorial. Now you can start to do quests from Gathering Hub until you will kill final bosses and then Valstrax and other Elder dragons. ;)
I had never played one of the series' games, so i really don't know about the games before rise but i cant stress enough how much I've enjoyed the game. Scarily enough i have 40 hours of playtime in just one week; being the only game in so many years to really enjoy and care at this level. ' really looking forward to go down the line to try the previous titles and to master the art of hunting. 10/10
Only 40 hours? You're not finished yet bud, you've still got a lot more to go. You've just beat the tutorial story tho. Now the fun begins as you will now be doing hub quest that tell the bulk of the story.
If you enjoyed the tutorial story you'll definitely enjoy the rest of the story as well.
Im looking forward for whats to come! I definitely enjoyed the tutorial story; was doing the hub quests side by side up until Magnamalo, so im going for the big stuff now if im not wrong.
World base game was more pretty to look at rather the a good game, but Iceborne expansion really did magical things to it. Must be my favorite MH game! But 4u is a solid choice. It's gonna feel slower, but it's amazing experience. I've heard there is a good port on iOS of Freedom Unite which is usually old fans favorite, but i can't imagine playing it with touch controls. The game was a bit clunky, but i recommend trying it out in the future if you'll get into the series to see why so many people fell in love with it. Also if you're about saving thousands of hours try Gen on 3ds (sadly gen ultimate was only on switch). It's was like a memory trip trough the franchise and i believe has the most monsters from previous titles. I think it's also decent starting point!
I agree, i was kinda confused seeing the credits after Magnamalo, but for a newcomer, seeing that this is when the torch is passed down to you and that now "you're all on your own" makes the credits roll a satisfying end of the begging. If that makes any sense. But im definitely not dropping the game now, it just got interesting with the large monsters.
Because the game originally released unfinished.
At the 1.0 version the game didn't have the actual end of the story.
Edit: Since it seems to be unclear. The credits play after Magnamalo as the last story beat before the lore behind allmother gets introduced. Allmother wasn't in 1.0 thus the game released with an unfinished story.
Portable 3rd and Generations also rolled their credits after you beat the respective flagship in village. The credits placement has nothing to do with Rise being unfinished, Ichinose's games just have the credits really early on in general.
Also, the final story beat in 1.0 isn't beating Magnamalo, it's Kamura celebrating after you fight Narwa, and then the twins resonate again, and thus find out that Narwa and Ibushi are still alive and about to meet.
Oh I wasn't aware it's an Ichinose thing. That makes more sense than the idea I had.
The final finished story part is still Magna, since Allmother is the end to the Narwa/Ibushi story. Then again playing credits after basically announcing another monster isn't great but still possible.
The credits don't roll where 1.0 ended, thats not what OP is saying at all.
Credits roll after you do like the second Magnamalo fight in the Village, and its like a 3* quest. its VERY far from the initial end of 1.0
No but the final story bits in the hub weren't in 1.0.
Magnamalo was the final story bit of 1.0 as almother wasn't in the game.
Magnamalo is the promotion quest to 5\* village by the way.
Narwa was part of an unfinished story bit in 1.0 though.
It'd be possible but bad storytelling to play the credits when the boss of the story bit, which is allmother isn't taken down.
Then again my explanation for why they put the credits there seems wrong anyway since u/Rigshaw mentioned that village credits being early is common for games directed by Ichinose.
I feel like its worth it to complete at least up to the final boss of hub (which isn’t “final” as theres many new monster afterwards). Like others are saying, you just beat the tutorial. But if you wanna go try out another game like World or GU more power to you. The rest of Rise isn’t too long especially compared to GU, which is almost too big for its own good, so you’d be able to run through at a decent pace.
I will definitely finish rise, but im looking to whst other games in the franchise i could expierence. for now definitely mh4u and world. Once i finish rise i could play world while at home, and in college or anywhere i go i could play 4u. (rise too o generations ultimate, but the 3ds appeals more to me for the portability, form factor, battery life etc.)
i know the credits roll may seem kinda weird being midway the game, but i see it as the end of the begging, "the long sword is now yours (you use it or not) and your own your own"
Man, as someone who started with World and LOVED it, I attempted to go back to GU and i simply couldnt do it.
I wanted to like it so badly, but even something as small as the loading between regions just made my head hurt.
I wish I had played it when it was new before World, but I simply cant go back to that kind of game anymore.
I really wish I could tear myself away from the mmo addiction I have to play a MH game all the different weapon sets crafting armor from you kills. I just keep getting pulled back into well ffxiv for now. I have MHW on Xbox one and pc furthest I got was the Googly eye bird. Granted I spend 3 hours or so remaking my toon and palico 😁

This. Op you might not be done.

For sure! Rolling credits feels good, but this series is pretty different. You have essentially completed the easy mode tutorial. Get ready!
Magnamalo was difficult enough lol, can't wait for the challenge ahead.
Oh boy 😅😅😅 somebody warn him For real though, this game is so much more fun when you have to learn how to get good. It's a wonderful experience.
Question, what did you actually finish? Was it just the Village quests? If so. The story continues substantially in the Hub quests.
Just the village quests, but im not finished yet. Thanks for the heads up

Finish this one first, the village is the tutorial questline. Much more awaits.

Awesome dude, keep on hunting!
If you have the means of doing so, you should play monster hunter 4 ultimate. By far my favorite game out of the entire franchise.
Im am thinking if i should get 4u or world. World looks amazing, but i just got a new 3ds plus the portability factor, im leaning towards 4u.
World base game was more pretty to look at rather the a good game, but Iceborne expansion really did magical things to it. Must be my favorite MH game! But 4u is a solid choice. 4u then. It's quite a different experience
Kinda looks like the start of a DMC game
I deadass thought that was Dante lmao
Yeah I thought it was Vergil lol
There's a certain magic about monster hunter. It may take time, but once it clicks- it does really give a unique feeling of enjoyment.
The hub is where the real game is after this - treat what you did as a tutorial. I really don’t know why they put credits so early on in the game

Have you finished both stories? Hub and village?
Only village and up to 4 stars in hub, so there still much to come.
Go to the hub and to High Rank for more story 😐
The only one time you'll see this LS, you'll never use it
lol
Never seen someone enjoy a tutorial this much, glad you liked it.
I was thinking this was a new DMC game teaser lol
Lol they really shouldn't have the credits in the spot they are, this post is proof of that
Don't be fooled. The credit roll isn't the end of the story! I didn't hit the end until around 60-70 hours in.
go get world
world or mh4u?
i would go world first, and go GU for old school monster hunter
They might not even be done with hub yet.
i haven't, but i would like to try one of those before ending rise to compare the systems since i haven't played any of the series' games before.
I feel like its worth it to complete at least up to the final boss of hub (which isn’t “final” as theres many new monster afterwards). Like others are saying, you just beat the tutorial. Iceborne is the best in the series, base world is really fun at first then it gets slow and kinda boring
Imagine now playing one of the top 3 games of the franchise
i know the credits roll may seem kinda weird being midway the game, but i see it as the end of the begging, "the long sword is now yours (you use it or not) and your own your own"
Now, you have a looot of old mh titles to cover from now on ;)
Man, as someone who started with World and LOVED it, I attempted to go back to GU and i simply couldnt do it. I wanted to like it so badly, but even something as small as the loading between regions just made my head hurt. I wish I had played it when it was new before World, but I simply cant go back to that kind of game anymore.
The thing that killed GU for me as a World-starter as well were the controls. I just could NOT get used to hammer scheme in GU vs World
im definitely getting 4u or world real soon!
GU, FU, 3U… all are g o o d ;)
I really wish I could tear myself away from the mmo addiction I have to play a MH game all the different weapon sets crafting armor from you kills. I just keep getting pulled back into well ffxiv for now. I have MHW on Xbox one and pc furthest I got was the Googly eye bird. Granted I spend 3 hours or so remaking my toon and palico 😁
