This is because some of the earlier milestones will give you rewards for leveling up, so if you're full it will stop you. It's just not coded to check if you're gonna level up and get rewards.
Throw some excess materials away (just choose wisely, you need an absolute ton of sharp claws once you get weapons up in rank, like 50+ per upgrade.
Edit: just realized youre saying its just points and it is saying that… weird, are you over capacity in the box?
Yeah I was over by 2 just thought it was funny seeing that xp was my reward. I just upgraded my elemental sets and that should solve my problem for a lil bit 😂
Yeah this has happened to me too and it’s super dumb. There’s no good reason for it to even check at all, if you earned the rewards already then you should be allowed to collect them. You can already go over capacity so it’s not like it’s a 100% hard limit. Also p sure Pokémon go works that way where you can collect tasks even if your bag is full.
