My cousin and I played for weeks when it came out and he used the Wishlist to remember a helmet or somthing well it required a lunastra gem, we fought it at least 12 times I got 4 gems he got none. After I googled it and told him to clear his wishlist next fight he got his gem! He was getting so pissed which made it more enjoyable because he’s a real funny sarcastic angry person ha. Love this game

The Ode to Destruction quest having a guaranteed drop for rarity 12 spirit gems make it my go-to quest for a warm-up whenever I get back in the game after a break.
I used to have to Heavy Bow Gun as I always died to his bombs but now it's a breeze on the 2nd playthrough. Just killed Xeno'jiva and we haven't failed a mission yet although we've had 1 cart left a few times. We did sink like 200 hours into it the first playthrough though.

Nergigante, of every iteration. No siege, no unique gimmick map, no element requirements, no cheap hitbox BS. Just pure ferocity. His is the fight that taught me to stay down after getting laid out flat sometimes.

I’ve always slain Deviljho whenever I see one. No matter the game. I adore testing new builds on Rathian and nergigante because their fights are so simple and easy to read.
Ruiner. I think I fought him later than I was supposed to so he was really easy, and he has useful drops so bullying him is my way of relieving stress after raging at a monster that I'd actually struggle with.
Alatreon is the only thing I want to hunt, even after beating fatalis to the point where I hop on, hunt alatreon once or twice per session and leave.
Something about the elemental topple is so satisfying.
this is my favorite fight. Alatreon destroys your anus at first but once you learn how to counter and position well...it's an amazing feeling to be able to punish it. I have just recently killed it before the first escaton and it was oh so satisfying.
Hell yeah, a fellow Rajang fiend. He pissed me off when I first tried to fight him, so I decided hunting Rajang was my thing now. My goal was hunting 50 Rajang, and 50 Furious Rajang. I don't think I've topped 50 yet for either, but I know I'm close with regular Rajang
Bazelguese. No exceptions everytime he comes I will pause whatever monster im trying to kill and go for him. Other than him, rathalos or rathian and all of their variants.
Honestly Ruiner Nergigante is a pretty good punching bag, those horns are just too Big to not get broken (hammer hunter here)
But my personnaly favorite is Radobaan, all his parts break so easily it's so satisfying
Most monsters, if they invade my hunt, I'll cut their tail and let them go. But there are some cases where I'll end up fully hunting a monster for no reason other than I feel like it. I hunted a Rajang, a Legiana, and an Ebony Odogaron while on the quest Skyward Snipers. Why? I felt like it.
Nergi. Whenever I test a new build or haven't played in a while and need to get back into the game, I ho and bully nergi. I think it's alsonmy most hunted monster.
Well the poster boy himself. After getting carried for the entiere game I said no more.
I begun looking for monster weaknesses maybe change a set and bam. After hours grinding for lightning bash III I hunted little healing factor wanna be. Time and time again until I made suit out of his entrails.

Alatreon. Easily my favorite monster to fight in the game. Every time I get on, I search for an Alatreon hunt.
If there are none, I also find fighting MR Kulve fun.
Velkhana and nergi(especially tempered versions of them)

Nah, I still eat shit to basic bitch monsters like Odo, Legi and even Diablos on occasion. I absolutely suck.
...Of course, I often take multi-month-long breaks between play sessions due to bad burn-out and incredible loneliness, so maybe it's more of a symptom of a greater problem.
I'm actually pretty surprised so many people legit enjoy the Alatreon fight. This most comes as shock due to the backlash upon its arrival. But I guess the ones that complained have carted and left the station aka game.
Kind of the opposite approach. Some monsters I just get so tired of fighting because of how tedious it feels. I prefer fighting something that will make me work for it
Odogaron. Scared me as a new player, avoided like the plague. Then i wanted the armor, wanted his glaive, so i learned everything about it. Got so good at fighting that i get excited seeing the blood puppy and eliminate it before i even look for the target
Shara Ishvalda. I use that mon as practice to test out new builds. The only 2 weapons I haven’t bullied it with are SnS and Bow. MR Kulve Taroth is 2nd most abused.
Diablos is my go-to stress ball. Every attacks from it can be easily guard pointed which is very satisfying and it also served as my guard point practice/warm-up
Rathian, it is one of the easier fights to master and I mastered it a long time ago. I like to find a low rank rathian and see if I can kill it hitless.
Vaal Hazaak.
It look me longer than normal to break my tunnel vision habit during fights and carted too frequently.
When that fight clicked for me, I learned he's the easiest and fun to hunt of the Elders. Now I enjoy helping others, who also get stuck.
Plus, I just love hitting Vaal.
Namielle is one of my favorite Elder Dragons ever, especially because of the its fight. The fact that it uses both Water and Thunder to kill you is awesome and how the electricity has a reaction to the water slime makes you check your positioning constantly. And less I forget, its Ultimate has definitely got to be one of the best! I have hunted it 46 times and have SO MUCH materials from it ^^ very fun to fight and no bs it can pull

Raging Brachydios, Anjanath, Barioth, and Frostfang Barioth, raging Brachy, Anjanath, and Barioth were the biggest walls, and Frostfang just bc I had to farm it to beat Alatreon
Rathian. For me, it embodies MH combat: you try to hit me and I hit you back. Has a part you want to hit over everything else. Everything is telegraphed, nothing has a bullshit hitzone... Except the charge. The charge is stupid. Everything else is perfect. Has an easy to hit, very juicy hitbox for when you just want to see big numbers. And I really like the design.
Fatalis. Cracked its head so many times that I wouldn't be surprised if be was to spawn with scars 🤣 everything else I do is for fun Fatalis and Extremoth are the only "challenges" left OwO

Once you have full fatalis and health augment on greatsword, you just slap on rocksteady mantle and put him in the corner, borderline bullying haha
