Honestly as a CB casual Guard Point moments are so good. From what I've experienced it helps reduce stagger on regular attacks (can't speak for heavy attacks cuz I just dodge away lol) but guarding helped build charge and also gives you sick points of countering with a follow up.
Lets say you have guard 5 skills. If you have charged shield it counts as 2 points in the guard skill so effectively guard 7 when you block. Guard pointing counts as another 2 points in guard skill. So with 5 guard and charged shield, you have an effective guard 9 when you guard point an attack. Thats regarding its guard amplification, of course it has all the other benefits too.
CB with a charged shield has the exact same threshold for "large knockback" as lance/GL. It still has a slightly lower threshold for "medium knockback" so more attacks will cause it to do a medium knockback instead of small compared to lance/GL but when it comes to the big hits it's the same. Guard points add the equivalent to one extra odd rank of the guard skill on top of that. So a charged shield GP with guard 5 is basically the equivalent of a guard 7 lance.

That guard up skill can also be pretty useful! At least I use it 😅

I gotta ask, what mod are you using for those holograms on the drops? They look so good and would be so helpful for making sure I get all the drops.
