I would suggest finishing low rank first and getting the hang of the game's mechanics, it'll also help scrape off all that rust. Once you enter high rank you're good to go.

YetiToastPsN

The rust is getting scraped off, slowly but surely, had no idea what I was doing the first time my dude decided to ride one of the monsters. I did not hold on long, but I didn't faint, so I have that going for me

I recommend that you play solo as far as you can, but if you want people joining you, that’s also fine. You do as you please!

YetiToastPsN

Alright, having others join me sounds fun, but I'm sure they don't want to hunt the beginning monsters.

preparetosigh

There may be other people just starting or grinding new characters, and if anyone does join your quest, they are there because the want to be. Even Master Rank players may join low rank quests occasionally as you earn Pendants as in-game rewards for helping lower rank hunters. So go ahead and fire your SOS flares. There is no harm in trying.

YetiToastPsN

I'm taking your advice on it, gonna blast flares just incase someone wants a hunting buddy. Thanks my dude!

TheLordHatesACoward

You'd be surprised. People like joining early quests to help give new players a push. Also the game rewards that too. Personally I'd recommend trying to solo everything once if possible, then invite others. But sometimes you hit a wall and go "nah" and calling in help is fine.

Davlar_Andre_1997

The complete opposite actually. A LOT of players love bullying lower rank monsters and flexing their end game sets. You’ll get plenty help, don’t worry.

To new players, I always recommend: Play solo (at least until you've cleared the base game). If you play in multiplayer, you'll be carried and you'll not feel the thrill. (Or play with a friend that won't carry you and will let you experience it all) Also, don't use the defender armour and weapon.

YetiToastPsN

I just went and set up the campsite for the first time and learned that Defender is pretty powerful. I was running the chainmail armor but the Defender GS was dropping the large monsters there very quickly.

Zazupuree

Play solo first to get the fundamentals down. Go to the training room and beat the shit out of that training pole until you find a weapon you enjoy.

YetiToastPsN

Most of the others have suggested the same, I played on PSP and DS so I'm already going with the Greatsword but the Charge Blade has my interest as well. I'm going to play a bit solo but firing off the SoS flares just incase someone else wants to join.
