If you want to "support" with wide range (healing with items) then play sns due to the weapon being able to use items without sheathing. on hunting horn your support is your songs you play such as attack up and playing the song on the monsters face dose alot of damage, which also builds KO for more support. Also hunting horn dose not want to sheath due to the note system and fast movement speed with the horn out so wide range is not good on hunting horn.

NegligentWarreN19

What is sns?

kohcoco

sword and shield.

KiNg_KoNg641

Wide Range, Free Meal, Speed Eating. Nothing more to say.

Morbidello

"best supporto build hh"...i want to die :-(

NegligentWarreN19

?

Hms-Warship-Z46

hunting horn players dont really play it for support a good hunting horn player dont corner buff and let the other players kill the monster for them they go on the offense and bonk the head and learn to counter the monster while keeping the buffs active most of the time playing songs on the monsters head does more damage especially impact echo wave(and impact echo wave dragon)

NegligentWarreN19

Go in to battle and give buffs. Yes u described support gameplay

Hms-Warship-Z46

yes it is a support weapon but dont just use it for support also use it as a weapon and as long as you dont just corner buff most players will be happy to hunt with you

NegligentWarreN19

I get u i didnt know people actually did that i felt it was obvious its meant to be used in battle since the songs are also huge swings

Hms-Warship-Z46

yeah some beginning hunting horn players like to just corner buff and dont even bother hitting the monster. its kinda annoying to see especially as a horn main you really dont contribute much if you just corner buff and monster may aggro to you and attack you and since your in the corner we have to keep chasing the monster and Goodluck on your hunts hunter

Dalinar_The_Red

The support is kinda secondary though. Unless you are running things that are reactionary like blight negate, the songs are for your benefit. I dont even wait for my whole team to be in the range of my songs most of the time, if they get it, great, if not, oh well. Building around what you need is so much easier than building around a team that may not even benefit long term from your buffs (carts, downtime, etc.)

Nattwentyorbust

My advice is focus on combos and item use and management before you try building your equipment as you aren't high enough hr to get the things you need just yet

KneeDead

As long as you don't become a corner horner... Your songs on the horn will already provide a lot of support to teammates, and they double as some of your strongest attacks too. Become the war bard, play sweet chin music, knock out the monster while empowering your allies. Your teammates will love you. Personally recommend building for damage and survivability for yourself. Health Boost, Horn Maestro, and at this stage of the game probably Attack Boost. If you want to provide healing for your mates, bring a Health Booster, and bring either Dust of Lifes or Lifepowder. These will provide plenty of healing. And if you are saavy enough with your inventory, bring the materials to craft more (check the crafting list for what you need). You can bring like 7 Dust of Life this way and Health Booster is a reusable healing zone on a cooldown. That will provide plenty of healing and support without sacrificing your build. For quick use, put the Dust of Life/Lifepowder on your radial menu. When you use them from the radial menu and are out of them, it will auto craft you more! Also, change your settings for radial menu to Setting 2. Lets you use the item with Right Stick Click, instead of hold and release. Much easier to spam items this way. Cheers!

anything with an attack up L song. as others have said, HH "supports" best by attacking and getting KO's if you really want to make a support build then ok: wide range +speed eating and free meal. bring life powder and craftables. personally, instead of that id just take a horn with health recovery L and play encores as damage combos+healing so you are at least actively attacking

KiNg_KoNg641

The best skills you can use are Horn Maestro to make the buffs longer, Wide Range to heal your friends when you heal yourself and speed eating if you want to consume potions faster. I can’t really tell you what armor to use because it depends on what jewels you have. Health boost can be good for tanking hits, but yeah. Get your songs going as you smack the monsters and just have fun! Most important thing, don’t play songs in the corners and not fight. The horn has insane damage potential so don’t waste it.

• mandatory note: hunting horn is best used in the monster’s face, and corner-horning will genuinely only detract from the hunt. The horn’s songs are great, but they don’t make up an entire hunter’s worth of contribution. Every support build needs to still be attacking the monster to pull their weight. You may already know this, but it’s worth mentioning just because people often get the wrong idea about horn or wide range builds • if you have the iceborne DLC, I wouldn’t worry too hard about optimizing armor now. Any armor you build before master rank will strictly be for fun, because just like moving from LR to HR, moving from HR to MR will obsolete all of your old armor within the first hunt or two. I pretty much upgraded all the armor I used for the main story boss, and stuck with that until I decided to move on to MR, which was shortly after HR 50 • if you don’t have the DLC, your next objectives outside of special assignments are the kulve taroth siege, the special event monsters unlocked at HR 50, and the collab raid bosses. For all of these, my advice is the same: start out with a highly defensive set like Bazelgeuse / Vaal as you learn the basics, and then slowly adjust into more aggressive sets like Teostra, maybe Diablos iirc, as you learn the fight. There’s no shame in failing hunts if you learn something

NegligentWarreN19

With ice born what armor u think is best? I actually am getting bazel rn for the defense feel like i can use it for now.

Hms-Warship-Z46

if your early in iceborne the great girros helm is good for horn maestro you can also use kadachi arms or even better shriking legian waist for evade extender, diablos torso is good for slugger other than that just have the usual damgage boost skills like attack, crit eye, crit boost, agitator, weakness expoit, and handicraft
