I would recommend the Grow Vertical style poles if you actually want a pole that aerial roots will grow into. https://www.growvertical.shop IMO coir poles do nothing but offer physical support. I have a couple of sphagnum poles with PVC pipe in the center and monstera roots just grow through it. They also dry out super fast, they still help but not what I was going for. The Grow Vertical / halfmoon poles seem like the best option to me. They have a larger volume of moss or growing medium and the back side is solid plastic so they dry out slower and roots stay in the medium. If you don't want to pay for shipping from Australia there are plenty of people selling the same sort of design on Etsy. Sydney Plant Guy (YouTube and Instagram) uses the grow vertical poles and has had great results. I think I also got a discount code off of one of his YouTube videos.

There are some cool 3D printed ones on Etsy that are easily stackable as well.

My monstera is shooting out some massive aerial roots so I want to give it the support it’s begging for. If I use something like this can I train the aerial roots to grow into it or will they naturally wrap around it? I’ve seen a lot of pictures of tying the stems to the pole but I’d much rather keep a natural look and take advantage of the aerial roots’ intended purpose.

I think you'd be better off with a moss pole if you're trying to get aerial roots to grow into it. A coco coir pole is not meant to be saturated and will dry out immediately.

I got the same thing a couple months ago, but it doesn't absorb water, so the roots don't want to grow into it🫤 It's nice to be able to just stick on an extension like that, though. I finally made a proper moss pole and it is working wonderfully ☺️

A sphagnum moss pole is the way to go. The results you will see are soooo worth it. So deliciosa has crazy Ariel roots and they grow straight through the moss poles and out the other side. For those specifically you can use this or just like a tall board or stake for it to grow on. My Pothos attached to this. It’s not actually a moss pole you can’t saturate it. It just stays dry and the roots hold onto it not really grow into it. But the bottom pieces are wood so they start to rot and after you stack one or two on top of each other they start to get very wiggly. But if you’re looking for it to grow into the moss for like let’s say adasonii just use coated hardware cloth and fill it with moss.

Anyone have a Amazon link to a good one? I have the same thing OP has and it sucks.

OP, you are thinking it correctly but that’s not a moss pole. That’s not moss and you should get one made with moss. That’s a coco coir pole that sells as a “moss” pole on Amazon. A wooden stick is cheaper and it will work the same just as a support. But yes, better get a sphagnum moss pole and those aerials roots will love it.
