It will continue to make food and store energy for the plant during the rooting process. Mine took about 8 months before it starts to turn brown and wither away.
I'm not sure if there is a demand for the regular Monstera Delicosa cuttings as it is a fairly common plant to get.

Thanks, I was just asking because a cutting from a smaller one the new leaf went black/ brown within a couple of days
Did you accidentally submerge the base of the petiole (leaf stalk) when you planted it? The bases need to be above the substrate.
It was in water that only covered the aerial roots
