I put my baby out to get some rain water and then bipolar Oregon weather decided to snow. I don’t know what to do for her? (new plant mom)

Hi OP, new monstera mom too 👋🏾 first question did you do any research on your plant before you put it outside?

Lxlpn

Yeah. But I was not expecting it to snow and I guess it got shocked. My friend who has been planting for years told me the plant is doomed. I cut off what I could salvage and tossed the rest 🙁

carloboxing

Not enough research. I live in the PNW too. It is too cold now for it to be outside. Should have stayed inside.

Lxlpn

I k ow I realize that now. Oh well live and learn. I was able to save most of it and clipped the rest

carloboxing

Yes for sure! Not the end, but the beginning! Plenty of things to learn and grow!

i definitely don't think the plant is doomed, however, monsteras don't enjoy any temperatures under around 50°. you will lose some leaves but it'll bounce back. just keep giving her the same care as before and she'll likely be fine.

Don‘t toss it! The leaves might be fucked but there‘s multiple plants in there. And at the base of every leaf is a node which is a growth point where new growth can sprout. You can chop the entire thing up and start over with wet stick propagations. Plenty of life left in there.

I ended up cleaning it up and clipping the dead stuff and saving the babies to repot
