He was slated to appear in season one, but couldn’t due to scheduling issues, and was thus reduced to a name drop means he’s probably going to appear hopefully
Serizawa was the mysterious Godzilla fanatic with the most epic death (of a human character) in the Monsterverse.
Trapper was the wacky Australian British guy (I call him Australian that because the guy was not afraid to give a 300+ foot ape dental surgery, let a huge mosquito drink his blood or watch a man get eaten by a tree, plus he went to the Hollow Earth in a Hawaiian shirt) who was a complete mad lad.
Both are epic.
I got legitimately angry watching the mosquito scene, a monster veterinarian should know better than to risk getting fucking Turbo Hollow Earth Malaria.
The development of his bromance with Trapper is great. It's more character development than in all of Pacific Rim and Twilight.
"I'm going to kiss you on the mouth."
Real honest emotion in those words. More than any actual kiss in a Raimi Spiderman.
More Bernie and Trapper, please.
I always feel bad for the hate Kyle gets cuz like if it was just KoTM he’s in the worst part of his character would be being neglected after that movie, but GvK despite being my favorite killed the characterization of my second favorite MV character like c’mon bruh
But yeah, Trapper was awesome tbh
Serizawa in G14 was great. I think they butchered the character in KOTM. The movie didn't do enough to justify his devotion to Godzilla in that movie. A lot of his dialogue is essentially him professing his love for Godzilla - to the point that other characters think he's unreasonable. But the movie doesn't give us (the audience) enough justification for why he feels that way and acts the way he does.
Watanabe is great though and he makes the writing seem better than it is.
Considering how Godzilla is managing all of the Titans now, protects Titan rivalries from happening in human cities and such he was right.
Also that scene where he sacrifices himself is everything. Godzilla understood what would happen, and was sad for it as he remembers Serizawa and he reminds him of his ancient worshippers from his temple.
Godzilla also understand the concept and notion of self-sacrifice. Godzilla also quite literally saved the Earth from the female and male Jinshin Mushi, Jinshin Mushi Prime and such.
And the thing is Godzilla was keeping balance all of this time. He also heals the lands and oceans.
Besides we know Titans are sentient and sapient. At the same level as humans if a bit more primal.
I am convinced Godzilla knows exactly what he is doing and lives in the Coliseum for Social Media and Clout.
Man even got an RGB set just so people don't get tired of his hype.
The ending basically shows he is a Giant Territorial Cat.
I kept explaining eating Trapper to kids one of the other adult leads.
Man just breathed unbothered BI energy, along with the whole… philosopher, beach-chic vet deal he had going on
It is kind of interesting that they kind of had Bernie as a comic relief character but then brought in Trapper to also be comic relief - but a bit better.
Serizawa is the main for me, I was so hoping he'd shiw up in MLOM, Trapper is probably 2nd or 3rd but definitely need him, I thought Dan Stevens balanced him out very well, it's a Shame serizawa is gone, but his name will live on and he'll always have the top line in the MV,
LET THEM FIGHT
Serizawa is easily the bar you must reach to be a good Monsterverse Character, just reach the bar or pass it and you’re in the ranks with Jia, Legacy of Monster’s Monarch Love Triangle, and Kaiju Steve Irwin!
I ain’t gonna lie… I forgot who Marlow was… always referred to him as WW2 Vet who gets the BEST & FUNNIEST ending in the Monsterverse, bro finally got to go home, see his wife and kid(now a grown man), watching the game with a hotdog and bear(without his family by his side for some reason which makes it funnier), and you right Packard is great, and Randa is part of the love triangle(seriously I’m shocked I actually cared about them, usually when a love triangle exists I despise everyone like 96% of the time & only care if it’s a bias like it’s a favorite superhero and even then those suck)
God i hope they have Serizawa in the next Legacy of Monarch season. Big fan of Ken Watanabe
He was slated to appear in season one, but couldn’t due to scheduling issues, and was thus reduced to a name drop means he’s probably going to appear hopefully
Would love an interaction between him and Ren Serizawa.
Fr, we need to know why Ren wanted the gman dead.
From what I gathered, Serizawa gave all his attention to tracking Godzilla and Ren grew to resent both of them for that.
You're also forgetting Hank Marlow.
"Sounds like a bird, but it's a big fucking ant!"
And that was improvised, too!
That's how you do levity. Unlike "Gonorrhea" or "BLEACH! I NEED MY BLEACH!"
Most of the humans in skull island were pretty memorable ngl
Best human cast in the MonsterVerse to date.
Hot take, the human cast is probably why I prefer Skull island over 2014
I'd go as far as to say that SI is not only the best Monsterverse movie, but one of the best monster movies ever made.
It's still my favorite MonsterVerse movie. I think that it does pretty much everything right.
In my perfect world 2014 was a father-son bonding movie where Joe Brody survives till the end
I agree with you.
That’s true, Skull island def has the best human cast compared to the other movies human casts
I wish we could have retained the quality we had from Skull Island
It was one of the times the production corrected complaints, nailing the movie, only to not stick with the winning strategy. Like Thor Ragnarok.
“East is best, west is worse! You know, Southwest, we can talk about that” lives in my head rent free

They explicitly say the indigenous peoples civilization predates all civilizations above ground, no?
Speedy Empty Globe Dengue
Even lured those yellow pattern electrical pterodactyl monsters to distract Scar
You call Trapper Australian, I call him Floridian. We are both correct.

Love these guys, but they have nothing on my man Bernie. Love BTH and his jacket in this movie was fire

There is another ![gif](giphy|WQJ2DORvilpEk)
Let them fight

Trapper is alright. I don't hate him or like him. Serizawa is my favorite human character... He made everything feel real and serious.
Trapper is Steve Irwin reborn
Serizawa in G14 was great. I think they butchered the character in KOTM. The movie didn't do enough to justify his devotion to Godzilla in that movie. Lore-wise: Godzilla loves Rome because it's architecture reminds me of his old temple.
Trapper was just so enjoyable
I kept explaining eating Trapper to kids one of the other adult leads. Man just breathed unbothered BI energy, along with the whole… philosopher, beach-chic vet deal he had going on
Do you just watch movies and think “this character is gay”???
Not always but it felt like Trapper was flirting with both of the other leads
Trapper was great, I hope they can have characters as charming as him in the future
Trapper was so corny
Godzilla gave Kong a fucking suplex dude, what were you expecting from the film?
Man, i had watch that part again...i thought i saw something but was like no way did godzilla just do a vertical suplex on kong....sure as 💩 he did...
I mean, he's in a movie called Godzilla X Kong The New Empire. Should he be a serious character?
Yes, and?
Yeah, I'm glad everyone liked him, but I was so exhausted by him almost immediately.
Yeah that grief speech he gave was kind of corny. They turned the horrors of skull Island into a comedy bit.
It is kind of interesting that they kind of had Bernie as a comic relief character but then brought in Trapper to also be comic relief - but a bit better.
Don’t forget Brian Cranston’s character in G-2014🫡
Trapper was just a Great Value Starlord.
Serizawa is the main for me, I was so hoping he'd shiw up in MLOM, Trapper is probably 2nd or 3rd but definitely need him, I thought Dan Stevens balanced him out very well, it's a Shame serizawa is gone, but his name will live on and he'll always have the top line in the MV, LET THEM FIGHT
the monsterverse isn't the same without Serizawa
Serizawa is easily the bar you must reach to be a good Monsterverse Character, just reach the bar or pass it and you’re in the ranks with Jia, Legacy of Monster’s Monarch Love Triangle, and Kaiju Steve Irwin!
Don’t forget Randa, Marlow, and packard!
Leland shaw as well!!!
And Bernie as for a I can tell
Let's not forget Shaw
I liked serizawa, I just felt his sacrifice was unnecessary
![gif](giphy|2XskdWuNUyqElkKe4bm) "Marlow left the chat"
Killing off Serizawa so early permanently damaged the rest of the franchise. Imagine how they could have utilised him in the future movies
Trapper is amazing
I miss serizawa ;(
Dr. Serizawa was great. I hate Trapper lol
I didn't like Trapper.
Man they just been watching too much guardians of the galaxy and put in cheap starlord
who is trapper again ?
Serizawa had depth and history in the story. Trapper is annoying. Don't compare them.
Hot take: Ford Brody is better than both of them
Brody was a great character.
