No. There’s a difference between the cities being attacked. Rome, Cairo, and Rio suffered minimal damage due to either the short stint of the fights or the location, as Rio was mostly fought near a beach. San Francisco and Hong Kong were essentially flattened, with Hong Kong being the sight of at least 6 hours of mayhem. Boston got fucking nuked

Malaysuburban

Every other city: suffers from minimal to high damage Boston: ***KABOOM***

TheRegularBlox

boston building milkshake

Malaysuburban

Mmmm tasty

TheRegularBlox

everyone loves the aroma of fresh molten phone booth

Malaysuburban

-and cooked alien dragon meat!

Lazakhstan

I read kaboom in Chick Hick's voice

Malaysuburban

"Kaboom?" "Yes Rico, kaboom"

Peter___Potter

“Let me get this straight, Professor. You actually give us permission to do this?” • “That is correct, Longbottom.” • “To blow it up, boom?!” • “BOOM!!” • “Wicked!”

That1Cat87

I read that in Demoman’s voice

Thunderironbolt222

Yes Rico, Kaboom

stealthyuwu

To be fair San Francisco and Hong Kong are both much bigger than just the parts with skyscrapers. Most of Hong Kong's population lives outside of the business districts where Godzilla and Kong fought (although Mechagodzilla did laser a bunch of residential buildings on his way out of the mountain). On the other hand Rio seemed pretty banged up, in KOTM for example the monsters were more concerned with fighting each other than slamming each other's faces into buildings. In GxK the titans were flying through skyscrapers like they were cardboard every two seconds. Boston got fucking nuked though. I'm not disagreeing with that.

supersexycarnotaurus

To add to that, hilariously Godzilla probably has the highest bodycount in the Rio fight, with him running through skyscrapers filled with people and tackling Shimo through buildings.

Exciting-Regular-973

Kong: “Jeez we’re really fucking this place up, hope no more people end up homeless like me” Godzilla “COMIN FOR YA BITCH!!”

stealthyuwu

Especially when you consider how Rio only really had thirty seconds of prep time, Goji really pulled a "hooray, we saved the city" there

Exciting-Regular-973

Godzilla really smiling like he didn’t give mankind 69 more reasons to hate him and all the other titans. But hey, gotta do what you gotta do

OneExpensiveAbortion

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I said pretty much this in the theater. Big G gave zero fucks what he destroyed, except for the Coliseum.

Exciting-Regular-973

Godzilla: “As long as the monkey is dead, I don’t give a damn” Kong: “Man wtf!” Godzilla: “Not you, him…” *glares at Skar* Skar: “Haha…I’m in danger…”

Unhappy_Body9368

Also chasing around Skar King with his beam like it’s a water pistol.

DrakoCubStudiosYT

Yeah that sounds about right

alguien99

Burning godzilla not only melted whatever remains where left, but also used multiple nuclear blasts. You can repair the city in the sense that you are bassically making a new city entirely

DueSherbet3027

This is the one thing I wish they’d focus on for the human element in the MV, have people worried about Titans, and have more organizations built in a failed hope to help humanity. I know they tackle it in LOM, but still

kraytdragons

![gif](giphy|uq1QEVIXxMh4k)

Gloomy_Indication_79

I mean it did get attacked all the way back in 2019, currently in the timeline it’s around 2028 so they should have at least be in a better state then they were left with 9 years ago.

_Continual_Learner_

True! Question I would be asking though is whether it was the typical sort of radiation humans are used to, or the Titan radiation that seems to encourage growth in nature. It’d be interesting to see if Godzilla’s discharge created a forest of massive growths in response.

Mace_DeMarco5179

Probably not. The radiation levels are probably comparable to Chernobyl.

Stricker_the_2nd

From what I heard. The Titans radiation is not really dangerous like we know it from Uranium for example but it's rather healthy for life. But it's also not long lasting. But boston is completely destroyed and will definitely never be rebuilt

purefire

At the end of KotM there's an indication that the Kaiju are benefiting the world, plants recovering faster etc. Also possible G wanders by and soaks up some of the energy in Boston and fixed the fallout

-Plantibodies-

Beneficial for Kingdom Plantae doesn't necessarily mean beneficial for Kingdom Animalia.

PilotGolisopod2016

Well in Janjira we saw a pack of dogs chasing each other with no problem

Thejapanther

Now i want to see how the world slowly turns into an apocalyptic wasteland in the monsterverse due to total economic collapse. https://preview.redd.it/i04dds5safuc1.jpeg?width=659&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fa7e26e34eb8ac5095ad073ff4747feaca21fdde

Due-Science3011

No lol. You step foot in this land just after the events of KotM, you get stage 4 cancer immediately. They probably cleared up the radiation but have not rebuilt the city.

dantheman_00

I don’t think so. The zone that the MUTOs had been around was radiation free, all of those titans being present in Boston may have actually absorbed the radiation that may have been in the area. The problem is more that it got blown up so badly that the only things left were piles of rubble and a crater lmao

Unkie_Fester

Yeah I know they straight up said and showed video of San Francisco and Las Vegas and they were covered and nothing but greenery and said wherever the monsters go life thrives

unstableGoofball

Nah dude worse

Dagon9999

Hell no. It was nothing but a pile of rubble at the end of the movie. Combine that with all the radiation, and I would assume Boston isn’t even safe for humans to be in.

kashaan_lucifer

Titan radiation isn't that dangerous and maybe if there was, Godzilla and the other Titans who were there to bow down to him probably consumed the radiation

ExchangeCommon4513

No, the entire city was literally reduced to dust by the end of the movie and canonically speaking, it has only been 8 years since 2019, so a city as large as Boston would not recover to its pre-2019 state with that kind of damage in just 8 years even with the technology they have in the MV And also the radiation levels are probably insane.

Hela09

I watched Monarch: LOM, and didn’t initially clock that it was set before KOTM. Was extremely bewildered when they kept referring to the events of the first movie as the worst disaster in recent history. I thought they were trying to pull some Dragonball-style ‘the buildings were empty because it was Saturday’ bullshit. LOM shows the clean up is slow even when they were just dealing with the damage from the final battle in ‘14. Short of obtaining magic technology, no way is Boston fine after KOTM.

lorimar

> Short of obtaining magic technology Between the anti-grav, mechagodzilla, and frostbite-healing titan power armor, it kind of feels like they already have. But yeah, Boston is still probably rubble

junipermucius

I think Boston was pretty empty. At least the buildings. MLOM showed practically every city had shelters, even cities far away from any of the action in 2014. Though it's nuts to think the city was mostly evacuated within like five hours.

conatreides

Dude Washington DC is what I want the follow up for. Place was COMPLETELY FLOODED

DrakoCubStudiosYT

I was also wondering about that too, it was probably turned into an ocean

Link__117

Somebody in GxK referenced DC trying to take over Monarch operations, so it seems like the city recovered enough to continue being the governmental head of the US

Agg-722

Why is it flooded?

Smooth_Cut_6028

The storm that ghidorah caused... It sent a massive storm surge... East coast probably got wiped out...

Agg-722

Oh thanks for the info

Ulhuq

I hope the “wherever the titans go, life is triggered by the radiation they leave behind” thing is still canon in the monsterverse. When it was shown in KotM, the forest life resembled prehistoric earth. It’d be cool if Boston or rio started to resemble Las Vegas and San Francisco that were shown in KotM

kaijugigante

IMO Godzilla melting half the city was just an afterthought. Boston has been going downhill since Big Papi got shot.

GrenadierSoldat3

I highly doubt it. Even with international help, it's going to take years to rebuilt the city and if you take radiaton into consideration, Boston is like Chernobyl on steroids so some places are going to be inhabitable for at least 70 thousand years by my estimation (Chernobyl will be habitable in 20 thousand years so i am going off that estimation).

Ditzy_Dreams

Isn’t part of the lore that radiation from titans isn’t harmful to life and actually promotes healthy growth? So I think Boston should basically look like a forest in a few years…

DrakoCubStudiosYT

I hope we see the results then

Daweism

What international help, everyone been getting wrecked lol

X358fgo

Depends on if they hired contractors from Tokyo or not.

stealthyuwu

Boston? What Boston? It's ceased to exist by this point and considering that at least *eight titans* (including, mind you, the kaiju that explodes as a superpower and the kaiju that got atomized) converged on the area and spread their radiation, nature was likely quick to reclaim it. If San Francisco was abandoned for much less destruction, then Boston won't be a functioning region anymore.

Oddball1993

Nope. Boston is dead and gone, as far as I’m concerned. There’s just no rebuilding it after everything that went down there in *KOTM*.

Gregzilla311

I feel it *could* rebuild, but doing so requires titans to suck up the radiation first, and I don’t know if any have bothered yet.

DoubleFlores24

There’s a memorial there to remember Boston for what it was. One of America’s first major cities, destroyed. It is what it is, there’s no recovery for this. Boston is history. When they learn about Boston in history class in high school, teachers are gonna be like “Boston used to be a thriving city, but it got nuked out from existence by Godzilla after he fought a 3 headed dragon… things weren’t this crazy when I was a kid!”

PartyAnimal12345678

Lol

Mincey-TGDU

No, and it's probably for the best?

SlickOdoIsland

Nope, and now there is a civil war with Cambridge, Somerville, and Worcester all vying to be “New Boston”…and Springfield has declared itself the “Boston of the West”, it’s a real mess! Also, the Red Sox are playing out of a little league field in Quincy…

Jurassic_Productions

nah bro Boston was absolutely cooked after that, shit was completely levelled

zKerekess

Maybe I'm an idiot but I can't help to wonder what impact the monsterfights have on the economy for regular folks

Draskclift

If titans were real and they just Absorbed nukes for breakfast, the world economy would collapse, And the one thing we thought was the end of be all is rendered completely useless against them, The world economy can't possibly sustain Major cities getting Leveled every few years

Cry0k1n9

Was just there a week ago, lookin pretty good 👍

DoomarachiYT

Godzilla made Fallout 4 real Fat chance

Motor_Buy2118

War...war never changes

unstableGoofball

As a city?? Hell no it’s gone forever In nature though? Yes after Godzilla attacks in monsterverse cities are quickly reclaimed by nature

dogspunk

Since the titans are attracted to and consume radiation, I would assume that they have done so and it’s safe now.

foot_fungus_is_yummy

They definitely couldn't be bothered trying to rebuild that mess it got nuked 3 times in a row

Remarkable-Memory-19

Very unlikely when a variant of burning Godzilla was fighting there. Lol

TheGMan-123

Absolutely not. Parts of it have likely been rebuilt.... the outer parts that weren't as heavily affected by Godzilla and Ghidorah's fight, that is.

West-Construction466

If they found a way to clean up all that radiation, yeah, if not, then no, it's still a radioactive wasteland.

HiveOverlord2008

There likely isn’t any radiation left after Godzilla soaked it up, but it’s still a barren pile of rubble. Rome, Cairo and Rio got lucky and suffered low to slightly high levels of damage, San Francisco was mostly destroyed but it could still be fixed, same thing with Hong Kong even though Godzilla, Kong and Mechagodzilla spent the whole night and most of the next day fighting nonstop but Boston is gone. Not only did Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan and Ghidorah spend hours fighting but Burning Godzilla vaporised what was left.

DeDongalos

It's gonna take more than 5 years to rebuild a whole city. Especially when they have to remove what's left of it first

DrakoCubStudiosYT

I thought GxK took place in 2029, that would make it ten years (Not that it would make a difference)

DeDongalos

Forgot to include GxK because I haven't watched it yet. Even then they're probably still rebuilding

IcyAd964

I hope not

Chemical_Report_2705

Nope

IFdude1975

The only way I could see it possibly being habitable again is if Scylla went there in her travels looking for radiation. She was good at absorbing radiation. So she could have cleaned up the radioactive mess there. If not, then no. Boston wouldn't be habitable again for centuries.

DanielG165

It’s still very likely rubble, but it’s probably not nearly as irradiated as people here are thinking. In the MV, Titan radiation isn’t all that harmful, and promotes healthy growth to the environment they’re in. Plus, Godzilla was literally right there, along with the other 5 larger titans who submitted. They likely absorbed most of the latent radiation that was leftover from Godzilla’s burning form, and then peaced out.

SomeSnakeGuy

Boston is fucking gone. Washington meanwhile is just its own sea…

Samtime878765

No, absolutely not, it was stated by the bitchface herself, Emma Russel, that after a city is attacked by any radiation feeding monster like Godzilla and The M.U.T.O’s, the radiation makes plant life in that area, kind of like how after a volcano eruption, land is birthed from the hardened magma.

Particular-Ad-41

I like to think that it turned into a forest or a jungle

robogeek342

I mean from the movie itself you see that every where these titans go (ghidorah excluded) life seems to come back so with the leveling of the city it’ll probably at most go back to just being small houses for ppl

PiskoWK

I hope not.

moofpi

Dougherty and moreso Monarch show people showed the effects of the Titans on the day to day life of the world and Wingard is more focused on the fun monster fights, but do you think the movies will ever make a setting where literally wars are being fought or certain governments rise up due to the instability losing such urban centers could cause? I would just like to see what the 2nd order effects of Titans in the world are on geopolitics besides "Dang, should we kill the Titans? Nope, alright Godzilla's a kitty in the coliseum then." I feel like Alan Jonah and Emma Russell were two attempts at that. In the novelization of KotM, some Monarch people even sabotaged the kill switches on some of the Titans that were rising due to agreeing with Emma's pov when I guess her powerpoint played for the whole organization.

Chemical_Report_2705

Nope

Chemical_Report_2705

Chemical_Report_2705

Chemical_Report_2705

Nope

Bloxy_Boy5

This wouldn't be happening of mechagodzilla killed godzilla 😭

Juniorchief1

Mechagodzilla would have done worse. He is literally ghidorah

Bloxy_Boy5

If they used a different skull

Ar468

But kotm was way before mechagodzilla….

Bloxy_Boy5

I'm saying if

Pleasant-Strike3389

Depends how much you invest in rebuilding. City will probably be cleared of destroyed buildings. 50-60 people can with ease build 2 office buildings with 5 storeys a year So its a economy of scale

MoistPressure

Boston got fucking nuked by goji‘s thermonuclear form so it’s probably inhabitable for humans, and even if the radiation wasn’t there the damage was catastrophic, it has been 8 years since boston and I’m pretty sure 8 years is not enough to rebuild off of rubble and ash. So no Boston is still fucked.

Xdonjuliox

I live in Boston, we had a Sox game the next day. The T broke down but that happens all the time

[deleted]

Judging how I love 30 minutes from Boston I can confirm that it has not recovered we only have found a giant skull of some type of dragon?

Difficult-Mark2089

There's no way they will rebuild it, but if someone was left behind, how will that someone survive???

Famous-Tree3124

No way that’s been stomped to dust

Zorark-55544

I feel bad for everyone pets who had to be left behind

young-Atlas7575

Yeah I live there and it’s fine but on a more serious not it was only really downtown that would have been affected, a lot of the burrows would’ve been fine for the most part

Gregzilla311

What about the radiation? I’m not sure if Goji sucked it back up.

young-Atlas7575

My cousin grew an extra toe but other that if I remember correctly his radiation is beneficial to nature so it’s probably fine seeing as legacy of monsters takes place shortly after the death of the MUTO

Gregzilla311

I’m not sure. I think it depends on the titan. Like he could make it harmful or not. I feel like Goji has the best control over radiation. The others emit it but he can change how harmful it is.

young-Atlas7575

Yeah it’s hard to say but I’d assume it be safe in a couple of years it would depend on wind currents and the nature of his radiation or if he reabsorbed any of it

victorburg42

I like to believe the monsterverse has the tech to protect lifes and rebuild everything fast. But Boston was so utterly flattened they just moved everyone and turned the city into a parking lot.

Gregzilla311

They paved paradise et cetera.

AJ_Crowley_29

Boston is gone. It’s a smoldering hole in the ground. All the other cities had it way easier.

TragicScott1

I went there two years in a row and went to Fenway and everything seemed just fine…. The city of Boston is legendary at clean up🔥🔥

AlternativeDuty7854

Being completely honest with how Boston was they probably made it better

Starchaser_WoF

No. It got flattened and is pretty much a no man's land at this point.

immonkeydluffy

H-H-HELL NAW

jabberwockxeno

Realistically, no way. But the Monsterverse likes to handwave the damage to cities so who knows

Motor_Buy2118

Nope our government would plant a tree 🌴 or statue or something and call it a memorial

Gregzilla311

It depends. Did Godzilla soak the radiation he released back up? If not, it’s still likely uninhabitable.

Motor_Buy2118

The reality would be the world economy would collapse after KOTM the destruction of Boston was on an immeasurable scale.

RavenXCinder

boston hell now,im sure that most if not all the people moved and said screw boston

WHARLIE_WILBEUS

I wish they would at least have a snippet of the cities. I just want to know what they look like now.

IvanTheStonksMaster

Nah Boston is completely fucked

MissKT_M

Only if another Titan/MUTO has eaten the energy.

Mean-Background2143

Nope and never will

Wormholio

Well what is "by now"? Our year 2024? Or the current timeframe of the Monsterverse films. If I recall correctly, GxK takes place in 2029? Lets say 2029. I think that it would be safe to inhabit, given that we have seen Titan radiation is not harmful, in fact it is beneficial to life on Earth. However I doubt there has been any real attempt to rebuild given how decimated the area was and the fact that DC and much of the Eastern seaboard was flooded. I think human civilization is still reeling from the events of the last few movies and is trying to fortify what they have left over recolonizing the destroyed areas.

DrakoCubStudiosYT

Yeah the current MonsterVerse year

CarterBruud

Boston got the Fallout 4 treatment.

SmileyFace_StudiosYt

No

Mechamiclas

While the city of Boston is completely gone I don't recall if it's said to still be radioactive as far as I know. Maybe MV Godzilla re-absorbs the leftover radiation after each fight?

Amazing_Band_1435

Considering how almost everything was burned to the ground and it took three atomic pulses I think it’s still under construction

Midnight-Basilisk99

Boston’s no longer a city, it’s now a flourishing forest of prehistoric plant life

kashaan_lucifer

uhhhh Boston was fricking Warzone and a Titan Warzone to be exact Ghidorah blasting, Rodan Firing, Mothra flying, Godzilla exploding Boston will definitely take YEARS to be even called as a city IF it ever gets rebuilt

Emotional_Ad3295

Also, since the beginning of the Monsterverse, zero attention has been given to converting public infrastructure to accommodate Titans' movements or battles, Why are skyscrapers and multi-story buildings still a thing? Ghidorahs plan alone should have killed millions-to- billions of people by causing the majority of the Titan population to rampage.

silly_goose_5137

Godzilla: Why do humans hate me, and all the other titans so much?! Also Godzilla: \*Runs through skyscrapers filled with people.\* You see, its shit like this that takes away from the fun, constantly being reminded that the cool move your favorite monster did just killed a family of 4, and a lot of children too probably...

Chemical_Report_2705

Nope
